Game 1: Heat v. Cavaliers
Wade’s Double-Double Lifts Heat Past Cavs
Image
LeBron James led the Heat to a 15 point lead in the second quarter, and Dwyane Wade put the game away with an amazing second half. Wade did a fantastic job starting at the point with Ty Lawson out, posting a double-double in the Heat’s 113-103 win over the Cavaliers. Serge Ibaka got into early foul trouble, but Joel Przybilla put up an admirable performance off of the bench, tallying 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks. The Cavaliers struggled without Dion Waiters, but he is expected to be back by game 3 at the latest.

Lebron James hit a clutch three, and Dwyane Wade made a clutch free throw to put the Heat up by four with nine seconds left. That free throw turned out to be the last point scored, as the Heat held on to win 88-84. The defensive contributions of Serge Ibaka and Udonis Haslem had a huge impact, as they came up with 5 and 3 blocks, respectively. The series will move to Cleveland for game 3.

Game 3: Heat @ Cavaliers
Heat Blast Cavs in Cleveland

The Heat picked up a great team win in Game 3, using solid defense and efficient offense to rout the Cavaliers 99-82. The Cavs now have their backs against the wall, and will try to overcome the 0-3 deficit tomorrow night at home.

Round 2 Predictions

Postby Sasaki17 on Sat Mar 23, 2013 9:17 am

Playoff Predictions - Eastern Conference:
(1) Miami Heat v. (4) Toronto Raptors
These two teams do not like each other. This series will be a fight to the death, but the Heat have the edge as Ty Lawson will be returning from injury, and Norris Cole should be back by Game 3.
Matchup to Watch: LeBron James v. Andrea Bargnani
Prediction: Heat in 6

(2) Orlando Magic v. (6) Indiana Pacers
The team that destroyed the Heat in the ECF last year is up against the team that got blown out of the playoffs by the Heat last year. The Magic are upset after being taken to 7 games by the Pistons, and they will take it out on the Pacers. They scored 144 points against the Pistons in game 7, showing that they are unstoppable when they want to be. The Pacers might not even get a lead in this series.
Matchup to Watch: Luol Deng v. Danny Granger
Prediction: Magic in 4

Playoff Predictions - Western Conference:
(1) Sacramento Kings v. (5) Golden StateWarriors
The Kings rolled past the Rockets, while the Warriors were taken to 7 games by the Spurs, a team who seemed like they were trying to tank after the trade deadline. The Warriors will need a miracle to win this series.
Matchup to Watch: Tyreke Evans v. Eric Gordon
Prediction: Kings in 5

(6) Los Angeles Clippers v. (7) Denver Nuggets
This matchup between two offensive juggernauts will likely be decided by whoever has the ball in their hands last. The Clippers have a better starting rotation, but their bench has been mediocre at best. The Nuggets have arguably the best bench in the Western Conference, but their starting lineup is inconsistent at best, save for Tony Parker. This should be a close series.
Matchup to Watch: Chris Bosh v. JaVale McGee
Prediction: Clippers in 7

Heat v. Raptors Games 1 & 2

Postby Sasaki17 on Wed Mar 27, 2013 10:25 am

Game 1: Heat v. Raptors
Heat Attempt to Lose, Fail
Image
With 5 minutes left, up by 15 points, the Raptors had seemingly won Game 1 of the Semifinals. Somebody forgot to tell Ty Lawson, who had entered the 4th quarter 1-5 behind the arc with 17 points. He left the game 6-10 behind the arc with 43 points. Lawson scored 25 fourth quarter points to lift the Heat past the Raptors 119-110. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James apparently decided not to show up, scoring 12 and 15 points respectively. The Heat will host Game 2 in Miami tomorrow night, and they are in trouble if they continue to play how they did for 3.5 quarters last night.
Top Performers (MIA):
T. Lawson: 42 PTS, 2 REB, 10 AST, 6 STL, 17-23 FG, 6-10 3PT, 2-2 FT
A. Afflalo: 23 PTS, 6 REB, 3 AST, 5 STL, 9-23 FG, 5-12 3PT

Top Performers (TOR):
J.R. Smith: 33 PTS, 8 REB, 2 AST, STL, 14-19 FG, 3-6 3PT, 2-3 FT
D. DeRozan: 18 PTS, 7 REB, 3 AST, BLK, 7-11 FG, 2-3 3PT, 2-2 FT

Game 2: Heat v. Raptors
Team Basketball Lifts Heat over Raptors
Image
Myck Kabongo stepped up big after Ty Lawson fouled out, hitting the game-winning three with .03 left to lift the Heat over the Raptors 104-102. The Heat used team basketball to defeat the Raptors, with six players in double digit scoring and only 5 turnovers. The series will head to Toronto for Game 3, where Norris Cole will be returning for the Heat.
Top Performers (MIA):
L. James: 25 PTS, 4 REB, 4 AST, 3 STL, 11-20 FG, 1-4 3PT, 2-5 FT
S. Ibaka: 17 PTS, 8 REB, 2 AST, STL, 2 BLK, 8-10 FG, 1-1 3PT
T. Lawson: 17 PTS, 5 AST, STL, BLK, 7-12 FG, 3-4 3PT

Top Performers (TOR):
J.R. Smith: 21 PTS, 6 REB, 3 AST, 10-14 FG, 0-3 3PT, 1-4 FT
D. DeRozan: 19 PTS, 6 REB, BLK, 9-16 FG, 0-3 3PT, 1-1 FT

Heat v. Raptors Games 3 & 4

Postby Sasaki17 on Mon Apr 01, 2013 8:53 am

Game 3: Heat @ Raptors
Cole and Lawson Lift Heat in Ugly Game
Image
With both LeBron and D-Wade struggling, the Heat relied on the tandem of Norris Cole and Ty Lawson to lift them over the Raptors 111-108. Cole, back from injury, came off the bench and fueled the Heat’s comeback in the third quarter. Down 71-60 in the third, Cole rallied the Heat to take a 82-81 lead heading into the 4th, a lead that they never gave up. The Heat moved the ball best when both Cole and Shane Battier were on the court, especially with LeBron in foul trouble for most of the game. The Heat now hold a 3-0 series lead, and they hope to wrap it up in Toronto tomorrow night.
Top Performers (MIA):
T. Lawson: 28 PTS, 3 REB, 8 AST, BLK, 11-17 FG, 6-10 3PT
N. Cole: 24 PTS, 2 REB, 9 AST, 2 BLK, 9-17 FG, 4-8 3PT, 2-2 FT

Top Performers (TOR):
A. Bargnani: 24 PTS, 6 REB, 9-14 FG, 1-3 3PT, 5-6 FT
D. DeRozan: 23 PTS, 4 REB, AST, 2 STL, 11-17 FG, 0-3 3PT, 1-2 FT

Game 4: Heat @ Raptors
Heat Sweep Raptors in OT Thriller
Image
When DeMar DeRozan drilled a contested three over Ty Lawson at the buzzer, it seemed that the momentum swung in the Raptors’ favor. However, the Heat’s smart team basketball in OT led them to a 123-119 win over the Raptors and a berth for the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat will play the winner of the Magic-Pacers series in the ECF.
Top Performers (MIA):
L. James: 36 PTS, 8 REB, 4 AST, 3 STL, BLK, 15-24 FG, 6-9 FT
S. Ibaka: 29 PTS, 12 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL, 5 BLK, 13-20 FG, 3-4 FT

Top Performers (TOR):
J.R. Smith: 23 PTS, 5 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL, 10-19 FG, 3-3 FT
J. Valanciunas: 22 PTS, 16 REB, 4 AST, BLK, 9-17 FG

Conference Finals Predictions

Postby Sasaki17 on Sat Apr 06, 2013 7:57 am

Playoff Predictions - Eastern Conference:
Eastern Conference Finals: (1) Miami Heat v. (2) Orlando Magic
This ECF rematch should be a good one. The Heat are bitter after dropping the ECF to the Magic last year, and with Norris Cole back their bench has a great boost. CP3 has killed the Heat since joining the Magic, and he wants to get that ring after coming so close last year.
Prediction: Magic in 7

Playoff Predictions - Western Conference:
Western Conference Finals: (1) Sacramento Kings v. (7) Denver Nuggets
With Nuggets PG Tony Parker out for the next week or two, the Kings should wrap this series up quickly. The Nuggets might be able to put up a fight, but they don’t have a realistic shot to win this series with Markel Starks as their starting PG.
Prediction: Kings in 4

Y3 Eastern Conference Finals - Heat v. Magic

Postby Sasaki17 on Sun Apr 21, 2013 11:43 am

Game 1: Heat v. Magic
Heat Rout Magic in Game 1
Image
Ty Lawson’s double-double led the Heat to a 101-85 rout of the Orlando Magic in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. This was a blowout from the start, as the Heat opened the game with a 10-0 run. Game 2 of the ECF will be tomorrow night in Miami.
Player or the Game:
Ty Lawson (MIA): 17 PTS, 3 REB, 17 AST, 7-12 FG, 2-5 3PT, 1-2 FT

Game 2: Heat v. Magic
Ibaka Leads Beatdown over Magic
Image
The Miami Heat powered their way past the Orlando Magic in Game 2, winning 105-96. Serge Ibaka dominated the glass, and Ty Lawson dished out 20 dimes as the Heat rolled for the second straight game. The series heads to Orlando next for Game 3, where the Magic will hope to avoid falling into a 0-3 hole.
Player of the Game:
Serge Ibaka (MIA): 28 PTS, 14 REB, AST, 4 BLK, 11-14 FG, 6-6 FT

Game 3: Heat @ Magic
Heat Blaze Back to Take 3-0 Lead
Image
Down 15 at the end of the third quarter, Dwyane Wade led a furious comeback to lead the Heat to a 110-109 victory over the Orlando Magic. The Heat’s hopes seemed shot when LeBron James fouled out in the middle of the fourth, but Wade and Ibaka were able to get to the line a combined 10 times in the fourth quarter, hitting all of their free throws. This was a devastating loss for the Magic, as the Heat seemed extremely vulnerable for three and a half quarters. The series will remain in Orlando for Game 4, where the Magic will hope to recover from this loss and stop the series sweep.
Player of the Game:
Dwyane Wade (MIA): 34 PTS, 4 REB, 7 AST, 3 STL, 12-17 FG, 2-4 3PT, 8-8 FT

Game 4: Heat @ Magic
Heat Pull Away in 4th to Complete the Sweep
Image
With the score tied at 67 at the end of the third quarter, the Heat opened the fourth with a 14-2 run to put the Magic away for good. Bench player Arron Afflalo was the key in the second half, as he hit six threes off of the bench to help the Heat pull away to their 105-93 victory. The Magic simply did not show up for the series, and as a result the Heat will be fresh when they play the winner of the Kings-Nuggets series, which is tied at two games apiece.
Player of the Game:
LeBron James (MIA): 45 PTS, 6 REB, 5 AST, 3 STL, 3 BLK, 17-28 FG, 2-3 3PT, 9-9 FT

BREAKING NEWS: NUGGETS WIN DRAFT LOTTERY

The Denver Nuggets, who will be representing the Western Conference in the NBA Finals, have also been awarded the #1 pick in the draft, and presumably the top prospect, UCLA C Lou Reynolds. Y3 - Finals Prediction

Postby Sasaki17 on Thu Apr 25, 2013 10:49 am

Image Image
NBA Finals Preview: (1) Miami Heat v. (7) Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets managed to pull the upset over the Kings, but the Heat just swept the reigning Eastern Conference Champions. Tony Parker is still injured, but the Nuggets have been able to cope with it so far. If they can hang around until Parker comes back, this could be an interesting series, but Nuggets fans probably shouldn’t get their hopes up.
Prediction: Heat in 5

Norris Cole on the Outs?

Postby Sasaki17 on Thu May 09, 2013 9:40 am

Norris Cole Playing His Way out of Miami?
Heat Sixth Man Norris Cole has been abysmal over the last 5 games, going 6-33 (1-15 3PT). Cole will be a restricted free agent after the season, and he would likely be moved in a sign-and-trade after the season if the Heat do not want him back.

NBA Finals Game 2

Postby Sasaki17 on Sat May 11, 2013 6:43 pm

Game 2: Heat v. Nuggets
Parker’s Return Sparks Nuggets Beatemdown
Image
Tony Parker returned to the Nuggets with a bang as he lead them to a 112-80 beatdown of the Miami Heat. The Nuggets led by 5 at the half, but terrible shooting in the second half doomed the Heat, who were only able to come up with 33 points after halftime. Norris Cole, who has been the subject of some doubt lately, led the Heat with 24 points as Dwyane Wade was in foul trouble early. The series moves to Denver for Game 3, where both teams will attempt to take a 2-1 series lead.

I can't remember their starting SG (Kevin Martin?) But they had Tony Parker, Gallo, Faried, and McGee starting with Wilson Chandler as their sixth man.

I could definitely start doing full box scores for the games I play, but it would have to start after Year 4, because I just finished that offseason. I'm playing on Pro with custom sliders because I like how the AI plays.
