I'm facing a little bit of a dilemma. Rudy Gay is my best scorer, but his contract is just too big. It really makes things hard for me in the future.
For example, I've got John Wall, Derrick Favors and Patrick Patterson all due for new contracts next season. I can imagine those three would cost me at least $30-$40 million per season combined. Then there's Noel and Beal in the years after that.
So what I'm wondering is should I:
a) trade Rudy for some more manageable contracts (likely at the deadline or even on draft day)
b) keep Rudy, end up over the cap and risk losing one of the three I mentioned above
c) trade every good player on my team to the Thunder for Kendrick Perkins and a 2066 second round pick
I really don't want to lose him, but if keeping him ruins the future flexibility of my team I may have no choice. Any feedback is appreciated.
