Two tough losses, albeit against strong teams. I take it these games were played before the trade?

Yeah, these games were before the trade. Right after the Memphis game I traded Gordon. Miami recap up next earliest by Friday!

I'm guessing you need a CP3-like PG?

That would be quite cool to bring CP3 back, move him to allow tanking, then bring him back when the new pieces are ready!

Re: (17-13) The Big Easy | Hornets survive Heat in OT

Postby mrmoves20 on Wed Jan 23, 2013 10:30 am

Short-handed Heat lose in OT against the Hornets

With the recent moves the Hornets have made, piece by piece they are starting to look a playoff contender. They beat the short-handed Heat in OT 112-108, who were without two members of the Big 3, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, both who were injured 3 weeks ago and are now nearing their return. The game remained close all night, only Hornets had a double figure lead of 12, but immediately the Champs started to rally in the third.
The Hornets were leading by at least 6 points in the final minute when Battier hit two consecutive three-pointers, the second one coming off LeBron's steal, tying the game 93 apiece.
In overtime, the Heat never led thanks to the defense of the newly-acquired George and Granger from Indiana. Granger pulled the Hornets away in the closing minutes to seal the game hitting 4 free throws.

Hornets 24 27 22 20 *19 | 112
Heat 23 22 25 23 *15 | 108

Nice win! Glad the ex Pacer wings are playing well for you. Can't get over how good I think that trade was for you. You are set for the next few years now.

Lebron was uncharacteristically inefficient.

George and Granger alternately defended him. I guess they did a pretty nice job.

Yeah they both have the tools to do a decent job on him, especially George. If he is going to shoot those % then let him take 30+ shots i say!!

Heat looking for a Center to pair with Bosh

The Heat, who have played great despite missing Wade and Bosh most of the season are now looking for a Center to play with Bosh in the First 5. The Heat have been in the low-20s this year in rebounding and missing some inside presence. Bosh has had back-to-back injuries in his knees and back which has been the primary concern for the Champs. The Heat are reportedly interested in Wolves C Pekovic.

Gordon face former team in loss

Gordon played like the Gordon the Hornets traded, only scoring 16 points and struggling from the floor. Gerald Green led the Pacers in scoring with 24 points. For the Hornets, 4 players scored in double figures led by Granger who had 21 points, followed by George with 19. Davis added 18 points and Flynn had 14 points and 9 dimes.

Hornets topple Bobcats to end the year; 105-76

Paul George has been playing like an all-star lately, today, he led the Hornets with 25 points to destroy the Bobcats. He had a monster game with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. The Hornets led early in the game and they never looked back. Especially in the fourth where they sealed the game. Granger and Davis played big as well, both scoring at least 17 points and grabbing 7 boards. The Hornets finish December, and the month on a two-game winning streak.

Celtics part ways with Jason Terry

The Boston Celtics have traded G Jason Terry also known as "The Jet" to the Indiana Pacers for F Gerald Green and F Miles Plumlee. Terry has grown upset with the the way the Ainge and Rivers have managed the team, who are currently 16-20 and are sitting just 9th place in the East. Terry was supposed to be a replacement for Heat G Ray Allen but those plans seemed to be broken now. The Celtics are looking to rebuild following the end of the season, or probably slowly starting right now.

Celtics get:
Gerald Green
Miles Plumlee

Pacers get:
Jason Terry
'13 2nd round pick

Conclusion: Right now, the Pacers have a very slight edge over the Celtics with this trade, but for the long-term, the Celtics might have gotten away with it but only time could tell. They have lost a reliable clutch shooter in Terry but acquired a highly-athletic player in Green. Both Greens, Jeff and Gerald look to provide energy off the bench.

Hawks skid extend to 4 following blowout loss to the Hornets

The Hawks, who are the top-seeded team in the East, have lost all of their last 4 games. Only Lou Williams seemed to be on the groove tonight leading all scorers with 31 points and 11-17 shooting from the field. The Hawks started out slow shooting only 4-18 (22%) from the field in the first quarter to the Hornets 12-18 (75%).
The Hornets have opened up 2013 with a win, who have really improved defensively in their current 4-game winning streak, led by Davis in the paint and George in the perimeter. George had another All-Star like performance tonight as he scored 30 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.
Danny Granger have also been playing well since he was traded to the Hornets, as he scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Clearly, the ex-Pacers have been a big addition to this young, uprising team.

ATL 9 24 27 28 | 88
NOH 31 21 25 29 | 106

Top Performers

Hawks
Williams 31 points 4 rebounds 6 assists
Evans 13 points 5 assists 3 steals
Smith 12 points 2 steals 5-16 FG

Hornets
George 30 points 9 rebounds 2 assists
Granger 21 points 6 rebounds
Davis 12 points 8 rebounds

Warrick out for 6-8 weeks with Broken Hand

The 30-year old veteran Hakim Warrick is out for 6-8 weeks with a broken hand he sustained last Dec. 30 during practice. He fell awkwardly after jumping for a rebound a landed on his hand. He will need surgery to fix his hand. This is a pretty huge blow for the Hornets as Warrick has been a solid backup for both Davis and Thompson. Warrick is averaging 5.4 points and 4.7 rebounds for the Hornets.

Paul George is a beast in this game! He's like a younger LBJ for me. I sure hope he could turn into that kind of player.

Oh wonder who it was, McGee then, would be insane if it was Chandler, unless it was for Bosh or something.
