Damn, pushed down to the 8th seed. Drawing OKC in the first round would not be ideal.

This being a video game, I'm equally concerned about the lakers. March recap up next with a contest, followed by more scouting reports once I finish cropping those damn 65x90's

March 2013 In Review
Team Record: 39-34 (10-6) | 4th in division, 8th in conference, 12th in Power Rankings

Image

A 10-6 March puts the Blazers' playoff destiny in their own hands. Currently sitting in 8th with a two game edge over 9th and with chances to move up further, things are looking up for player of the month Damian Lillard and the Portland Blazers.

Damian Lillard Wins Western Conference Player Of The Month

Image Portland Trail Blazers rookie Damian Lillard has won the Western Conference Player of the Month award for March 2013. Lillard led the Blazers to a 9-6 record, and made history by scoring the most points by a rookie in an NBA game with 68 points against the Pistons. Lillard averaged 27.5 points, 6.9 assists and 5.9 rebounds during the month, and won the Rookie of the Month honors as well.

Nuggets' Gallinari Out For Season With Sprained Knee

Image The Denver Nuggets' title hopes took a big hit as Danilo Gallinari suffered a severe knee sprain, and is not expected to play again this season. Gallinari had lost his starting spot to Wilson Chandler already but was still a key contributor to the team.

Kobe To Miss 4-6 weeks With Ankle Sprain

Image The Lakers are among the hottest teams in the league, gunning for the West's top seed. However, they face serious adversity as Kobe Bryant goes down with a severe ankle sprain. Bryant is expected to miss the rest of the regular season and is questionable for the first round of the playoffs.

Jack, Smith, Dragic.

Great job breaking away from .500. You're on a hot run, and April is tough and you have no easy game with OKC, both LA teams, Denver, Utah, Memphis, and Golden State.

Week 23: Mar. 31 - Apr. 6, 2013
Record: 41-35 (2-1) | 4th in conference, 8th in conference, 12th in Power Rankings

Image

A disappointing loss in Utah opened the week for Portland, but they were able to rebound with a win over the Grizzlies before blowing out the Rockets to solidify their spot in the playoffs. A 2-1 week was not bad as Portland is completely healthy (knock on wood), and will hope to win as many of their final six games as they can.

Mo Williams, Jazz Shock Blazers
4/1/2013 - Blazers 96 @ Jazz 99

The Blazers expected to finish off the season series against the lottery-bound Jazz with an easy win, but it was not the case. The Blazers were competitive thanks to a big effort from Aldridge but nonetheless lost their second straight to fall to 39-35 on the year. Utah meanwhile plays spoiler against their division rival.

POR 25 23 25 23 | 96 [39-35] - Aldridge: 27/12/3; Lillard: 18/2/6; Matthews: 16/2/0
UTA 34 18 28 19 | 99 [31-44] - Mo Williams: 22/1/4, 8-11 FG, 4-5 3pt; Millsap: 9/15/1; Foye: 13/1/4

Blazers Sweep Grizzlies Thanks To Huge Bench Play
4/3/2013 - Grizzlies 95 @ Blazers 104

Jason Terry had 20, Meyers Leonard had 11 and Chris Wilcox chipped in eight as the Blazers cruised to an easy home win against the Memphis Grizzlies, to sweep the season series and improve to 40-35. The game was never close as Aldridge and Lillard paced the team with solid performances.

MEM 15 18 26 36 | 95 [28-47] - D. Arthur: 19/11/0; M. Gasol: 12/6/0; Bayless: 12/2/3
POR 23 20 31 30 | 104 [40-35] - Terry: 20/5/3; Lillard: 18/3/7; Aldridge: 20/5/2

Blazers Rout Rockets In Second Half; Playoff Ticket All But Punched
4/5/2013 - Rockets 93 @ Blazers 126

Image Image

The Houston Rockets are the only thing standing in the way of a playoff berth for the Portland Trail Blazers. Entering this game with three games up and the tiebreaker up for grabs, it was all pretty much there for the taking for the Blazers at the Rose Garden. James Harden was going to have his say first.

Harden scored 13 of his 22 in the first quarter as a 13-0 run silenced the Rose Garden. Jason Terry was able to rally the home side with a pair of huge triples to give Portland a small lead heading into the second. Houston played valiently, but Batum and Matthews shut down Harden and the triples kept falling for Portland, who entered the half up eight.

The second half saw Portland blow the game open with some fastbreak alley-oops off steals. The Blazer bench ran up the score in the fourth quarter as Portland cruised to it's 41st win. They are now just two wins or Rockets losses away from clinching a playoff spot, and trail the Clippers by just a game for 6th place. Houston meanwhile faces its fourth straight ninth place finish.

HOU 27 24 20 22 | 93 [37-39] - Harden: 22/4/5; Lin: 15/1/6; Patterson: 16/7/0
POR 29 30 31 36 | 126 [41-35] - Aldridge: 23/12/1; LIllard: 22/4/7; Matthews: 20/6/3

Playoff Picture:

x-1 Oklahoma City 49-27
x-2 LA Lakers 48-28
x-3 Denver 45-32
4 San Antonio 43-34
x-5 Minnesota 44-32
6 LA Clippers 42-34
7 Golden State 41-35
8 Portland 41-35
Houston 38-39
Phoenix 35-41

"Record: 41-35 (2-1) | 4th in conference, 8th in conference, 12th in Power Rankings" - You mean 4th in Division I think.

Good wins there, bit unlucky with that loss though, that would have tied you for 6th. Do you own the tie breaker vs the Clippers? That 6th seed is a must!

I wouldn't want to touch a 2K Lakers or Thunder team especially in the Playoffs. Sixth seed's the only way to go.
