Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Totally agree here. Let's see how those two go together when they actually wrestle.

How's the recent Raw? Is it worth watching? I haven't seen any of WWE's programming since SummerSlam of last year.

That's what I figured they'd do the second they announced he'd be at the Rumble. My guess would be Cena going over in a rematch from last year, rather than Punk. Taking the belt off Punk and then putting it back on him makes no sense.

If nothing else, the final segment with Rock and Punk is worth checking out. Strong mike work from both of them, very good way to kick the feud into gear and more or less start the official "Road to Wrestlemania".

I saw the ending, but was the TLC match any good?

Recorded yesterday's Raw, but haven't watched it yet. I always get back into WWE in late December/early January, hate the way they're doing business, boycott Mania, and stop watching until late December/early January. Though with the Australian Tour in July I'll probably hang in until then.

Apparently WWE have signed El Generico. This is either brilliant or awful.

not really. outside of a couple table spots, there was the expected shield run-in, pretty much how theyve been booking ryback so he won't lose clean in any of his matches

Don't see why he couldn't keep the mask--the first site I read the news on was citing the mask as a good thing given WWE's current direction--and really, the name isn't that important. It's the in-ring limitations, or the possibility he gets stuck in developmental, that are more concerning. The Brainbustaaaaaaaaah, for example, is likely dead.

A possible name change aside, I also expect he'll keep the mask and essentially the same gimmick. With Rey nearing the end of his career and Sin Cara not panning out quite as well as they'd hoped, I imagine he'll have an opportunity to step into that role. Masked wrestlers have a lot of potential when it comes to merchandise aimed at younger fans, so they'll likely try to cash in on that rather than have him lose it.

TNA shook up their PPV model

Going forward, the company will produce only four live PPVs in 2013:

Genesis in January, airing this Saturday 1/13
Lockdown on 3/10
Slammiversary on 6/9
Bound for Glory in October on 10/13

As noted earlier on PWInsider.com, TNA will be doing a series of taped "One Night Only" PPV events airing the first Friday night of months they are not broadcasting live PPV events.
PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources the themes for the taped PPVs will be....

TNA X-Travaganza, featuring the stars of the X-Division (airing in April, taping 1/13).

TNA Joker's Wild Tag Team Special, featuring enemies teaming and a Battle Royal final (airing in May, taping 1/13)

TNA Hardcore Justice 2 - ECW reunion style "hardcore" show featuring hardcore stipulation matches bringing in ECW talents.

TNA "10 Reunion" - Stars from the early days of TNA battling inside a Six-Sided ring.

TNA Knockouts Knockdown - One night Knockout tournament with the first round being all stipulation matches and the final four in a "test of their stamina" to see who the final victor is.

TNA International Incident - One night tournament featuring talent from " United States, India, Mexico, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Japan & the UK" with the winner earning a TNA title shot.

TNA X-Division World Cup Tournament - four teams of X-Division wrestlers in a one night tournament featuring singles, tag, six man and eight man tag bouts.

TNA World Cup of Wrestling - Four teams, each captained by a TNA wrestler featuring a Heavyweight wrestler, a tag team and an X-Division wrestler battling in singles, tag and stipulation bouts. The finale will be a "two ring, triple chance Battle Royal."

The newly announced TNA Friday night PPVs will be priced at $14.95.
TNA Genesis and TNA Lockdown will still be priced at $34.95.

TNA Slammiversary and all live PPVs that follow will now be priced at $39.95.

TNA Bound for Glory will be the exception to that rule, since it always had a higher price point, and will now be priced at $44.95.

The taped PPVs at least sound a bit interesting, extras on top of the product which can have good slow/long builds to bigger events.

....as for TNA itself, yay, more relationship stuff........
Opinions are my own.

Great move for them from a financial standpoint given the low buyrates. It'll allow them to build the remaining Sunday shows as a Big 4 similar to WWE's major PPVs while giving fans some more affordable specials throughout the year, honouring their PPV deal and still making a little money out of it.

TNA has dropped the lawsuit against WWE, so expect Ric Flair to get a contract in the not too distant future.

I feel like Ric Flair might collapse due to a heart attack in the ring sometime (for real this time). He shouldnt raise his blood pressure so much now. Probably took a lot of supplements and painkillers back in the day that have made his heart weak enough already.

He'd be wrestling the occasional match in WWE, if at all. More likely he'll have some kind of backstage role (one of his daughters is currently in developmental) and if he does have an on-screen presence, it'll probably be something like a GM role.

He flips his shit even during promos though. You see all those veins popping on his face when he gets all into it? I get really worried this man might collapse any moment.

Supposedly he's in pretty decent health despite his profession and the abuse he's put his body through.

Cardiovascular problems arent very predictable though unless you are specifically screened for them. Should take it easy from now on. Like when he played the part-owner of the WWE gig. He was pretty mellow then.

A good example

phpBB [video]

A mediocre RAW after a good one before that. CM Punk not being a cowardly heel and being the one to attack The Rock was cool. Still have to watch the Ziggler/Cena cage match.
