Calderon signs 3 year extension with Raptors

Image

Toronto general manager Bryan Colangelo today announced that veteran guard Jose Calderon signed a contract extension with the Raptors.
The deal is for another three years, totalling nearly $16m. The 31 year old Spaniard is currently averaging 7 points and 4 assists off the bench.
Calderon happily took a 50% pay cut per season to remain in Toronto. He has fulfilled his reserve role behind Kyle Lowry this season nicely.
It had been rumoured that he would get traded this season, with many teams interested, but he has committed his future to the Raptors.

[Patterson] will compete with French forward Kevin Seraphin for a starting role with the Wizards.

I almost lol with that, Patterson is a great player and should start for D.C.

It's definitely a change from your Thunder Dynasty in NBA Live 10, but I think you'll find yourself getting better and stringing together some wins after a while. Of course, it's all about the future right now.

It certainly is a change. I have to try really hard not to throw my controller at the TV when I miss open dunks and the opposition continue to hit every contested shot they take. :facepalm2: It's so much more complicated than Live 10 with all the extra animations and controls. The lack of the free throw bar for example is really annoying for me. On Live 10 I went entire games without missing any, now I can barely make any with my best FT shooter.

I'm a bit behind on posting games, but I will say that I'm halfway to breaking an unwanted record. So far I'm resisting the urge to sim the whole season and get on with the rebuild quicker. Not to mention the urge to trade draft picks for an established star. I just keep reminding myself about my end game and try again in the next game.

Got my new sig done too.

Some tough losses, but it does add some realism at least. ;)

I know what you mean about free throws, I too would prefer some kind of on-screen meter. Watching for the flash in the player indicator is the best way to get the timing down for a good release; it is possible to familiarise yourself with the shooting form and focus on that, but the flash is much easier and more reliable in my opinion.

I think the Wizards started this season 0-12 or something in real life and have only won 4 of their 30 games. So I guess it's unintentionally realistic.

I have to beat Portland in game 13 to copy real life and end the streak at 12. I'm slightly worried about the Nets' 18 loss record getting closer though. :?

Wizards sign two veterans, release Livingston & Dunleavy

Image

Washington made some more roster changes today, signing up veterans Michael Redd and Kenyon Martin both for the rest of the season.
Recently acquired forward Mike Dunleavy and reserve point guard Shaun Livingston were both waived. They hadn't been seeing many minutes.
Redd and Martin will cost the Wizards less than $5m in wages combined. GM Steve Kerr hopes that they can add some scoring to the team.
"Michael averages 19 points per game for his career. We're hoping he can continue that here and take some pressure off of John [Wall]."
"As for Kenyon, well he can be a great mentor for Kevin [Seraphin] and Patrick [Patterson]. He can help them improve their inside work."
The Wizards are in near full rebuild mode at the moment having traded away Nene and Emeka Okafor. They've gone 0-5 to start the season.
Next they head to Charlotte to take on the Bobcats who also have a 0-5 record. Despite their poor form the Wizards will think they can win.

The freethrow shooting is really not that difficult. The thing is that it is different for every player-animation. I have Shawn Marion on my team I know what I am talking about. But you will get used to it no doubt about that.

Apart from that, this will be a lottery year for the Wizs anyway IRL so it would not be realistic to see you streaking like with OKC.

That's why I feel it's easier to watch for the flash in the player indicator.

Solid veteran signings there, hopefully they help you to be a little more competitive in the near future.

Jefferson signs 4 year extension with Jazz

Image

Utah announced today that star big man Al Jefferson had committed his future to the franchise by signing a four year contract extension.
The extension will earn him nearly $53m over the four years. It's an interesting move considering they've got Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter.
Some people had suggested that Jefferson and his $15m expiring contract would have been traded at the deadline for a quality point guard.
Jazz management however decided to secure him long-term after not yet reaching an agreement to re-sign his frontcourt partner Paul Millsap.
It's not certain what this news means for the future of Millsap. He may yet re-sign, but could decide to test the waters of free agency as well.

Rumour: Wizards are exploring a trade with Jazz for Favors

Image

According to multiple sources around the league, the Wizards have recently contacted the Jazz about a possible trade for Derrick Favors.
The 21 year old is currently stuck behind Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap in the Utah rotation and Washington feel he could be open to a move.
Washington have plenty of trade assets to offer, including three first round picks in 2013. It's unlikely that they will trade their own pick though.
After starting the season with 8 straight losses, it's looking likely that they could have a great chance of getting top pick in the draft lottery.
Utah apparently want the Wizards 2013 or 2014 picks, but general manager Steve Kerr is very hesitant to trade what could be high lottery picks.
The Jazz do like the idea of drafting a prospect like Nerlens Noel or Shabazz Muhammad in 2013 or Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker in 2014.

Al Jefferson recently signed a four year extension and Paul Millsap is supposedly ready to follow. Favors could be looking for a starting role.
If he were to move to Washington, he would switch from his sixth man role to that of star player alongside John Wall and rookie Bradley Beal.
It's all just speculation at this point though. If Millsap hasn't re-signed by the trade deadline, he may well be traded for a quality point guard.
Which of course would mean that Favors is very much required by the Jazz. This could drag out until deadline day depending on what happens.

Nice one. It's a bit late now though and I probably wouldn't have done that deal in my game for two reasons:
1.) LMA is 27 already and probably wouldn't be around long enough to help me challenge for a championship.
2.) I'm not sure I want to trade my 2014 pick as I suck at this game currently and it could be a very good pick to have in my rebuild.

More losses. But it's getting closer. Nice games by Wall. Favors is great. I also would love to get him for my Mavs, but it's quite unrealistic since the Jazz rather would give away Kanter or Jefferson IRL, but they always resign Big Al in the game ...
