Re: (5-2)The Big Easy| Harden traded

BREAKING: Thunder, Rockets, reach agreement on Harden deal

Image

Just a game after their heart-breaking loss to the Hornets, who are now 5-3. The Thunder have traded a big part of their roster and their bench, James Harden. Sources say the Thunder traded Harden because they couldn't reach an agreement on a contract extension worth $50M in 4 years. Sources also say Harden wanted a max contract, which is too deep for the small-market team Thunder. GM Sam Presti has a say about this, "We loved James. It was hard to let him go, but for the good of the team, we had to trade him. We couldn't complete an agreement, and we couldn't lose him in free agency without getting nothing. So we had to do this."

Thunder receive:
    Kevin Martin
    Terrence Jones
    Donatas Motiejunas
    '14 2nd round pick

Rockets receive:
    James Harden
    Daequan Cook
    Cole Aldrich
    '13 1st round pick

Also, James Harden tweeted after the news:
OKC could have given me more time to think about it. I'm gonna miss my brothers back there, but I'm ready to meet my new brothers in Houston! #RocketNation!!!

Teammate Kevin Durant tweeted after hearing the news on ESPN:
Didn't want Harden go, but I will continue to support him and this organization.

Many superstars around the league were also shocked to hear this news including 2012 USA Olympic Basketball teammates Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Love. Westbrook is unheard of, though.

Metta World Peace also gave a feedback on Twitter with this tweet:
Harden to Rockets?! I better send my vicious elbow to Texas then. JK lol #viciouselbow!

Gosh, 75 points! It's not even unrealistic I think, I mean after four OTs it's possible. Could you maybe post KDs full numbers. Shooting, +/- etc ? Nice game.

Re: (6-4) The Big Easy | Pacers late comeback falls short

Postby mrmoves20 on Fri Dec 14, 2012 11:00 am

Hornets hold off Pacers' late rally lead by George; 96-94

Image

Coming off a loss last night against the Knicks, 108-96, and Carmelo's 35 point performance, the Hornets are looking to bounce back against the Pacers who are currently 7-5. The Hornets have struggled their last two games since the 4OT thriller against the Thunder. The Hornets have lost by an average of 12 points their last two games against Milwaukee and New York, who are surprisingly having only 5 wins and 6 losses despite their roster.

The Big Easy came off an early start leading the Pacers by 9 after 1, 27-18 lead by Thompson's 10 first quarter points. On the second quarter, the Pacers scored a bit more with 25 but still trailed big at halftime down 12, 55-43. Coming off of halftime, the Hornets seemed relaxed and can't find the bottom of the net shooting just 30% from the field in the quarter. And George and Augustin took advantage as George scored 8 points and Augustin with 7 leading the Pacers with a 16-2 run to end the quarter but still trailed by ten, 75-65.

On to the closing period, George went off hitting two treys and a monster slam tying the game at 92. But once again, Eric Gordon came the Hornets' aid and gave them the lead. After that, George once again delivered for two, tying the game 94 apiece. It looked like another overtime game but Gordon drove past his defender and laid the ball which gave the Hornets a 2 point advantage with 1.5 seconds left. West inbounded the ball and gave it to George who has been hot, he pulled up for a three and he made it! The Pacers celebrated all the way but the referees reviewed it first to confirm, and to relieve the Pacers, the referees says it counts. But at the end of the night, the NBA announced it wasn't a basket despite being shown in the replay that the ball left George's hands with 0.2 seconds left. Paul George left a tweet about it on Twitter:

F*** the NBA for not counting my 3ptr, it was definitely a basket. No wonder the C's and OKC lost to Miami.

Fans around the league said it was immature of George, but what if it was the truth. The NBA later announced that they fined George $75K for his comment which also includes MWP for his tweet the other night regarding the Harden trade for $35K.

Re: (6-4)The Big Easy | Davis Out

Postby mrmoves20 on Sat Dec 15, 2012 12:11 pm

Davis to be sidelined 1-2 weeks due to Bruised Heel

Hornets C Davis is to be sidelined for approximately 1 to 2 weeks due to a bruised heel he acquired last Saturday during their practice in Denver following their next game against the Nuggets. Davis was going up for a rebound when he stepped on Lopez's foot; heel first and down he went. He laid down the floor for at least 5 minutes before getting up. According to the Hornets, the injury is not too severe and they are targeting a return next week against Milwaukee.

The next couple of weeks will be tough for New Orleans as they will face the Nuggets on Sunday, the Clippers the next day then the Jazz. After the Jazz will be the Thunder followed by the Bucks, then the Lakers, the top Western team Grizzlies and the NBA Champions, the Miami Heat.

There have been huge surprises so far early in the young 2012-13 season. Especially out East, who appears to be stronger than the Western Conference this year. The biggest surprise so far have been the Hawks and the Wizards, who are the two best teams in the NBA so far with the Hawks notching a strong 12-2 start and the surprise of the month, Washington Wizards, who are currently sitting at 2nd seed in the East with a 11-3 record. For the West, all teams have at least 5 losses already. With the Grizzlies being the best with a 10-5 record. And the Lakers, Durant was right when he said they were only looking good in paper. James, Durant, highlight the month of November

Image

NBA MVP LeBron James and Kevin Durant has been named the KIA Players of the Month for November. James has lead the Heat to an impressive 11-4 start to the season and is currently averaging 2nd best 29.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.7 steals a game. And out West, Durant has been named its Player of the Month. Durant once again looks to run away again with the scoring title averaging 30.5 points. He also scored a historic 75 points in an upset 4OT loss against the Hornets earlier in the season, grabbing 19 boards in the same game. Durant has been having another great season with 30.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in an average of 38.4 minutes. The Thunder, however, hasn't been the team fans have expected them to be as they started the year with a 10-8 record which is probably caused by Westbrook's injuries and the loss of Harden and the injury of Martin.

STATS LEADERS

Thanks, dude. And, yeah, Davis is a beast here on 2K13. Gordon is great on slashing to the hoop, though. I don't use him much on jumpshots too.

Re: (8-7) The Big Easy | NOVEMBER RECAP + Prospect Report

Postby mrmoves20 on Tue Dec 25, 2012 4:15 am

PROSPECTS BIG BOARD: Antonio Smith

Image

Basic Information
Name: Antonio Smith #10
College: University of Florida
Birth: 3/12/92
Dominant Hand: Right
Height and Weight: 6'5", 196 lbs
Position: SG/PG

Review
Smith of University of Florida is arguably the best player in the upcoming Draft. He is very talented and very athletic. One of the most versatile and explosive guards in the Draft. Last year, he averaged 21.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists. He attained this numbers because of his great length for his position and he is not that heavy which makes him real catchy for the defenders. His only downside is his rebounding and jumpshot. Despite his tremendous leaping ability, he is not that confident in grabbing rebounds. And his jumpshot is not polished well enough and he has to improve that and once he does, he would really unstoppable in this league. Definitely an upcoming star one day.

Strengths: Gets to the rim at will with his speed and footwork. Has tight ball handling skills that helps him get to the basket easy. Awesome court-vision. He can make contact lay-ups and change shots in mid-air. Draws foul well.

Weaknesses: Limited range, he can shoot from mid-range, although not consistently. He can't shoot threes. Decision making - he can't shoot, and when he realizes he's open form downtown, he'll take it. Average defender, he must improve this. Durability must also be worked on, had two back injuries last year. Only an average rebounder.

PROSPECTS BIG BOARD: Warren Macy

Image

Basic Information
Name: Warren Macy #1
College/From: Florida State
Birth: 12/3/92
Dominant Hand: Right
Height and Weight: 6'8", 207 lbs
Position: SF/SG

Review

Warren Macy of Florida State is the most complete offensive player in the upcoming Draft. He's got every tool up his sleeve and once he gets it going, he's unstoppable. Macy has NBA range and he can shoot almost anywhere on the court and he will make the shot and no matter how you guard him, he will either make the shot or find an open teammate on the spot or on cut. Like any other elite wingmen in the league, Macy can create shots for himself and others easily. He runs the pick and roll well and he also has a nice low post game. His downside, however, is his lack of strength and defense. Just post him up and you will score. But overall, he will be a franchise cornerstone in the future.

Strengths: Has great size and length for his position and play style. Also has tremendous range, can shoot almost anywhere on the court. Raises game under pressure, arguably the best clutch player in the Draft Class. Scrapes for loose balls, and wins rebounding battles. Has a winning attitude. Rarely gets hurt, or plays through pain to help team win. Great shot creator.

Weaknesses: Not enough strength when on the low post, offense and defense. Poor post defender. Not a good shot blocker. Low vertical leap.

NBA Comparison: Kevin Durant
