5 Game Summary

The Nuggets didn't have a great start to their tour of the West Coast, as they lost their initial game to the Warriors. But after that, they managed to take down both teams from Los Angeles and the Phoenix Suns, before returning home to win against the Cavs.

The feature game is against the Phoenix Suns

The Nuggets held off a lottery bound Suns, winning by 85-77. Mario Carlos was the standout of the night, registering a double-double, leading in both points (21) and rebounds (11) for the Nuggets. Julian Chandler added 16, while Vince MacMahon (14), James Palmer (11) and Taylor MacKenzie (10) all had minor contributions.

For Phoenix, Brice Alan led the way with 18 points and 4 assists. All-Star Justin Wallace scored 16, while the other Carlos (Sergio), scored 12.

Stepping Up

As Taylor MacKenzie was struggling, the Nuggets began to give Stan more touches on offense. Against the Lakers he had 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Stan might have to take a bigger role towards the end of the season if T-Mac's troubles continue.

What else can be said about another triple-double (12 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists) performance from Borislav Perko?

Despite some of his offensive limitations, Julian Chandler manages to have the odd flurry of points. He scored 18 against the Cavs. He's probably a consistent jumpshot away from being a regular contributor for the Nuggets.

Mario Carlos was Denver's best player in their loss to the Warriors. He had 17 points and 5 rebounds. He's been arguably the most consistent player all season for the Nuggets.

February 2026 Summary

It was a memorable month for the Nuggets. Both Mario Carlos and Borislav Perko picked up accolades in their All-Star Weekend appearances, with Perko being the third player to earn the All-Star MVP trophy four times. Mario Carlos also claimed the West Rookie of the Month award once again, further strengthening his case for Rookie of the Year honours. Stan Griffiths is also in form at the moment. With Taylor MacKenzie having shooting woes, Griffiths could become an important cog in the Nuggets offense.

We're only into March and the Nuggets are four games away from 50 wins. Here's hoping they can further solidify their top playoff seed in the upcoming month.

5 Game Summary

Denver were solid at home, picking up wins against the Pacers and the Heat; the road was a different story though. After getting run down in Houston, the Nuggets were completely blown out in New Orleans.

The slide almost spanned over three games:

Palmer Hits Winner in Memphis

The Nuggets won a 92-91 thriller against the Grizzlies in Memphis. After a night of surrendering offensive boards, the Nuggets gave up a crucial one down the stretch, as a Tangeni Chiwira put-back put the Grizzlies up by 1. With less than two seconds on the clock, the Nuggets had the timeout play to win the game:

James Palmer ended up with 13 points and 7 assists for the night.

The Nuggets were led by Taylor MacKenzie, who came back into form with 22 points. Stan Griffiths had another solid night with 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Mario Carlos (13) and Borislav Perko (10) were the other contributors for the Nuggets.

The Grizzlies had five players in double-digits, led by Tangeni Chiwira (21) and Ambrose Schwarz (18 points, 11 assists). Kitt Vine (17 points, 9 rebounds) was one rebound shy of a double-double, while Emmanuel Carlos and Daniel O'Reilly scored 16 and 11 respectively.

Revisiting MVP Mode
Image
Stan's rookie season was something else, but since then he's rarely replicated the form that almost saw him become a rookie MVP. But he thrived after he was given more responsibility. Against the Pacers, he had 27 points and 7 rebounds. He also had nice numbers against Houston (26/5) and New Orleans (18/8).

Heating Up
Image
The first time Durant left Denver, it was for a massive contract with the Miami Heat. But he had no mercy against his former team, registering 20 points and 6 rebounds as he provided a boost off the bench.

59/60
Image
Win or lose, Mario Carlos always offers something from the bench. He had 12 points against the Rockets.

Crisitunity!
Image
The New Orleans game wasn't pretty, but John Rice made the most of some garbage time, scoring 11 points.

At this point, I'd say Carlos is a lock, but I've seen some strange things happen.

I think it's because I'm using Stan more as a post up centre now, as opposed to a pick-n-roll one. Shaq would probably be jumping on his bandwagon now because of it :P

I always think I'm going to hit the shot when I take it with Palmer. So far, he's probably hit more than he's missed.

The young brigade is definitely stepping up. I'm thinking of promoting Carlos to the starting lineup next season and have T-Mac as a 6-man again.

I guess that's one of the comparisons you can draw between my team and the Lakers... I like to think that my team is more likeable though

He'd probably be a contender for the dunk contest if Live 10 had the feature. I'm kinda glad it doesn't though. The All-Star Weekend tends to drag on for me as it is. I much prefer regular season and playoff games.

5 Game Summary

Since the massive loss against the Hornets in the previous 5 game round, the Nuggets haven't been beaten. They beat the West's second seed (Portland) twice in a home double-header, and registered a couple of easy wins over Charlotte and Detroit.

The feature is against Orlando:

Nuggets Extend Streak to Six

The Denver Nuggets won 79-70 against the Magic, off the back of another big night from Stan Griffiths. Stan had 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Julian Chandler (12), Taylor MacKenzie (11), Dwight Howard (10) and Mario Carlos (10) all had minor contributions.

For the Magic, Rudolf Molony (18 points, 5 assists) and Harry Byrne (14 points, 9 rebounds) were their best performers. Alex Popescu also added 14 points, while Quint Myers contributed 10.

It's nice having an even contribution across the board with my players. I find it far more enjoyable getting everyone involved.

This season has felt like a long one. Can't wait to get into the playoffs.

Lamrock wrote:Though you're unlikely to post your best record to date, this might be the best squad you've put together so far.

I think the most exciting thing about this team is that it's relatively young. Stan, Palmer, Chandler and Mario Carlos are all under 25, which means they should be around until the last year of the dynasty. Perko might be as well.

But yeah, team-wise, I'd probably rate this my best team as well. Star-wise, the 73-9 team probably has the edge.

March 2026 Review

March saw a change in the guard for the Denver Nuggets. While Borislav Perko and Taylor MacKenzie were working as complementary players, Stan Griffiths and James Palmer received the headlines for their dynamic play.

In the past, the Nuggets have been labeled as an old team, with core players like Chauncey Billups and Chris Andersen playing into their 40s. Now, Denver have a variety of impact players under the age of 25. They will be looking to push Denver to the franchise's second 70 win season. In order to do this, the Nuggets need to stay undefeated in the month of April.

Will the Nuggets make it to 70?

5 Game Summary

After going on a six game winning streak, the Nuggets were taken down by Hobbes MacDonald and the Timberwolves. After another struggle on offense, it looked like Denver were going to lose their second straight against the Blazers, but luck was on their side, as you'll read in the feature game. The Nuggets then had a triumphant return home, winning their last three with relative ease.

The feature is the West's first seed versus the second seed:

Palmer Blazes Portland

Image

The Denver Nuggets came away with a 73-70 win in Portland. Things looked grim for the Nuggets, as Dilbert Roy drew a foul with the score tied at 70. Roy however missed both of his free throws, which led to this play from a timeout:

phpBB [video]

The Blazers had another possession to send it to OT, but were unable to level the game up.

James Palmer led the way for the Nuggets with 15 points. Taylor MacKenzie (12), Julian Chandler (11) and Mario Carlos (10) all managed to get into double-figures, despite a poor offensive night for both teams.

Portland also had four double-digit scorers, led by Wyatt Walsh, who had 14 points and 6 assists. Fred Gibson was the Performer of the Game, registering the only double-double of the night (12 point, 10 rebounds), while Liam Koch (12) and Charles Thompson (10) also contributed.

The battle between the West's first and second seed didn't disappoint, as the game was only decided by a late James Palmer dagger.

70 may now be out of the question, but you're still going to finish with a very impressive record, the top seed in the West with homecourt advantage throughout the postseason and I have to believe another Larry O'Brien trophy.

In the end, the top seed is all that really matters. I think in the last two games of the season, I'm going to rest some guys and give my deep bench players a go... even if I have a shot at 70.

I actually like most of the Warriors jerseys. My favourite was probably the Hardaway-Sprewell era ones that often come out during my retro months.

5 Game Summary

A perfect five-from-five this round for the Denver Nuggets, as they extended their latest winning streak to 9. They had easy wins against the Thunder and the Mavericks. The first game against Houston followed that trend as well, but the Rockets were able to get within single figures in the second game.

But the marquee matchup of the round was always going to be the New Orleans matchup. Here it is:

Nuggets Hold off Hornets

Image

Despite a spirited comeback by the Hornets, the Nuggets came away with a 92-90 victory in Denver. New Orleans were down by 9 at the start of the 4th, but they were led by former Nuggets guard Steven Hunt. He had a game high 34 points and 8 assists. But the Nuggets were able to hold on, thanks to another big performance off the bench by Vince MacMahon. He had 26 points and 5 assists.

Stan Griffiths was the only Nuggets player in double figures, with 16 points, while Mario Carlos (15) and Dwight Howard (14) gave Denver a much needed boost off the bench. For the Hornets, Luis Carlos had a double-double, with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Caleb Vick and Bradley Boctor both scored 12, while Rasheed Meyer contributed 10.

Four More Rebounds!
Image
Just when you thought he was being quiet, Borislav Perko was close to another career double-triple-double. He had 20 points, 16 rebounds, 25 assists and 6 blocks against the Mavericks.

The Wildcard
Image
Julian Chandler has been rather unpredictable this season. He was the surprise top scorer in the first game against the Rockets, with 24 points. He could slip under the radar in the playoffs, making him a dangerous prospect.

The Hot Hand

Vince MacMahon continued his sublime shooting form into this five game summary, picking up 23 points against Houston.

Increasing His Numbers

Image
He may not be putting up Perko numbers, but against the Thunder, Stan was solid with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Insane triple double from Perko there. Shame he couldn't get the 20-20-20, that would've been awesome to see.

It's becoming a rarity to see Perko score 20+ points, so I kind of went after that DTD. I'm not bothered by missing it though; I've already checked it off the list :)
