Re: Dirk's Final Chapter - Season Opener vs Lakers

Postby hova- on Sun Nov 25, 2012 7:36 pm

Sit, well, looking at tonight's game it is. No Dirk is very tough.

dare, not hoping for that kind of Dallas season ;) Thanks for dropping by, homz.

Thierry •, Kaman is a very good player in the game. He's the first option because his inside game is really effective. Lakers are a video game team.

Axel., as you see in the Jazz game, I still have to adjust the sliders. A lot of shots I took were simply bad shots, so it was good the did not fall, but sometimes I think the players aren't good enough at hitting shots that arent really contested and I am also missing and1s right now.

Thanks for your comments guys.

Vintage hova- realism with the Lakers loss. In all seriousness though, great start. Looking forward to see how this goes.

MKG hits game-winning shot as Bobcats claw past Mavericks

DALLAS, NOVEMBER 3rd (AP) - Michael Kidd-Gilchrist scores 20 points and hits the go-ahead bucket with 5.2 seconds left in the game to lead Charlotte past Dallas.

The Charlotte Bobcats for their first time in team history were able to win the first two games of a season thanks to their young rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who scored 20 points, added 16 rebounds and showed leadership ability in the fourth.

The Dallas Mavericks were slumping in the first quarter but managed to get back on track as they took the lead with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. Vince Carter, who hit three of his four attempts from down-town gave the Mavericks the lead on a mid-range jumper.

Charlotte, who only shot 36% from the field for the ball game but grabbed 15 offensive rebounds looked like they would break apart in the fourth when the Mavs went on a 6-0 run late in the game. But the Cats clawed back as Ramon Sessions, who had 11 points in the game hit a pull-up jumper with 32 seconds left in the game to give Charlotte a one point lead.

The Mavericks, coming off a close clutch at Utah gave the ball to Vince Carter who took a quick shot but could not hit. On the other end, with 14 secons left Ramon Sessions had a costly turnover as Shawn Marion played the passing lane and went coast to coast for a lay-up that could have decided the game.

This was when Michael Kidd-Gilchrist stepped in. Having hit five of his ten shots, the rookie made a drive with eight seconds left to go and the Bobcats down by one. MKG stopped at the high post shaking off Shawn Marion and popped the 12 footer. The Mavericks weren't able to get off a shot with no timeout left as O.J. Mayo lost the ball with a second left. The Mavs guard only shot 5-16 from the field in Dallas' second loss of the season.

Player Stats
Image (21|24|25|13|83)

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: 20 points - 16 rebounds - 4 steals - 6/11 FG - 8/8 FT
Ramon Sessions: 11 points - 6 assists - 4/12 FG
Bismack Biyombo: 8 points - 6 rebounds - 4/7 FG
Kemba Walker: 11 points - 3 rebounds - 3/8 FG

Image (15|25|21|21|82)
Chris Kaman: 22 points - 8 rebounds - 1 block - 9/16 FG
O.J. Mayo: 16 points - 6 rebounds - 3 assists - 5/16 FG
Vince Carter: 15 points - 4 rebounds - 6/12 FG - 3/4 3PT
Shawn Marion: 6 points - 8 rebounds - 2 steals - 1 block - 3/9 FG

Quotable: "This young kid has got a lot of talent. He's a fierce defender and his shot selection is great. Our late game execution was bad tonight" (Dallas Mavericks forward Shawn Marion on Michael Kidd-Gilchrist)
Game Notes: The Bobcats only shot 36% from the floor but had 15 offensive rebounds ... for the second time in a row the Mavericks only 42% of their shot attempts ... Charlotte went to the line 31 times hitting 77% ... this is the first season the Bobcats win their first two games ... Dallas had 9 blocks in the game with 7 players recording at least a blocked shot ...
Looking forward: CHA @ PHX (11/07) - POR @ DAL (11/05)

RapboY, megarover, mpac, jyap18, really appreciating your participation guys, thanks.

Lamrock, the Lakers are sick in the game. Somehow even Devin Ebanks and Steve Blake started hitting their shots. I'm still working on the sliders, I have to try to make it easier for the offense as my (and the CPUs) shooting numbers are too low. Apart from that I think the stats are realistic so far. Portland will be next ;)

We will see what happens, as long as I can play, there will be updates.

Mavericks guard Collison out with shoulder injury

DALLAS (AP) Dallas Mavericks guard Darren Collison has injured his right shoulder and will be out for at least two weeks.

Bad news for the Dallas Mavericks. After losing their first home game of the season against Charlotte, the Mavericks will not be able to take services of guard Darren Collison against the Portland Trail Blazers. Collison has injured his shoulder in Monday's practice.
"Right now it looks like there is no structural damage, but he had some swelling on his shoulder and was in great pain yesterday", Mavericks assistant Coach Chris Hova told media on Tuesday.
Collison, who is averaging 11 points and 4.5 assists per game for the Mavericks, will most likely be out for two weeks. Collison is the second starter out with an injury as German star player Dirk Nowitzki is still not able to play after knee surgery and is likely to return in December. The Mavericks will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. Dallas is 1-2 this season so far.

Dallas Mavericks sign veteran point guard Derek Fisher

DALLAS (AP) The Dallas Mavericks have announced that they have signed veteran guard Derek Fisher to a one-year contract.

The Dallas Mavericks have signed free agent guard Derek Fisher (38) the team announced on Thursday morning. Fisher will be available for tonight's game against the New York Knicks @Madison Square Garden.

According to Mavericks Coach Rick Carisle signing Fisher was a necessary move after three straight losses against the Bobcats, Blazers and Raptors. "Our chemistry isn't the best right now and Derek's experience will help us to bring back some spirit to the locker room. 1-4 wasn't what we were thinking of at the beginning of the season", Carisle told media on Thursday.

Mavs' offensive struggles continue

The Mavs had problems on their guard positions with Darren Collison not being able to play in the last two games with a shoulder injury. He will be out for at least another two weeks. The Mavericks allowed Portland guard Damian Lillard to score 23 points and saw Raptors guard Kyle Lowry putting up 14 points and 10 assists in a 98-96 home loss. On the offensive end, guard reserve Rodrigue Beaubois is only shooting 28% from the floor and O.J. Mayo is lacking any consistency at 35%FG.

At 1-4, the Mavericks want to find a way out of their struggles to stay into the Playoff race until December, when superstar Dirk Nowitzki is most likely to return. The close loss against the Raptors (98-96) was the first time the Mavs' offense cracked the 90 point mark this season after being limited to 81 points in the Blazers game (91-81).

"Our offense is definitely a problem right now. Without a guy like Dirk, everybody has to work more for his shot. It's not easy, but we will work on that", Dallas forward Shawn Marion said before the team left to New York.

Dominique Jones likely to be waived

In order to sign Fisher, the Mavericks will have to waive a player. General Manager Donnie Nelson did not want to express any details right now, but it seems that guard Dominique Jones is most likely to be waived by the Mavs.

Dallas will go on a two-game roadtrip as the team will play against New York and Charlotte in back-to-back games. For Fisher, a five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, it will be the fifth team in his 17 years in the league. The Arkansas native will wear number 37.

Justine., ye the cats loss was tough. Should have won that game.

Sit, I guess you like it because you usually praise Fisher. He would not be too shabby on the RL Lakers right now I guess.

mrmoves20, that is why I did that move. The RL Mavs will wave Murphy though I read, I think he is valuable that is why I chose to waive Dominique Jones. Let's see what fisher can bring to the table for me.

mrmoves20, as Sit said, the first two with are real, the New York game is an update by me.

Sit, ye I like him, too. Good stroke, leader and will see more playing time with Collison AND Beaubois out.

Guys, funny thing: I actually found a reason for my low scoring in the game. I was playing with user timing on jump shots and did not know. I always play with true FG% so I did not care about the timing (even did not have the shot indicator ON). Changed it to real player FG% and it's easier to scorer now. Still - the injuries are really tough to overcome.

Things seem easier with real FG% now and I also adjusted some other sliders to get the offense more going. More fun, easier to play - but still no too easy.
