Problems getting the official patch...

Fri Dec 27, 2002 2:45 am

first of all, the "check for update" shortcut doesn't work (it can't detect the patch), then when i clicked on the "check for update" link on the site itself, i got an "error on page" message along the bottom of internet explorer. any workaround here?

You'll have to install the Active X component that you are prompted to download and install. You will have to wait until the page is fully loaded (and perhaps a few seconds after that) for the prompt to be displayed, at least in my experience.

well, that's the problem... i can't download the dang activex component... it absolutely doesn't do anything after i clicked the link, no prompts showing... is this a problem with my browser? are there any sites besides the official one where i can download the patch?

Ensure that Active X is enabled in your browser. Don't click the "Check for Update" button until you are prompted to install the component, else the prompt will not be displayed.

You can't download the patch from anywhere but the official site, as it is an automatic installation procedure.

You're welcome. :) It took me a few tries to get it to download properly.

hmm... i think it's ok now... the link changed to a "patch installed" with two thumbs up... guess i'll try it now...

Yeah, that should have installed correctly. You won't notice any difference unless you were having one of the problems the update fixes.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools->Internet Options, go to the Advanced tab and check both "Enable Install on Demand" items.

i was hoping the patch would at least streamline the interface (much like that of nba live 2001), but it seems they ignored it :x
let's see if it will be addressed in a future (hopefully) patch.

All this patch did was fix major problems people were having with WindowsME/USB/Gamepads/etc. If you weren't having major problems before, this patch doesn't help you one bit. That's what makes it so stupid that you are REQUIRED to update it to play online.
