Considering this was likely an E3 build and released without their permission, they feasibly could if what's in the studio at the moment is better. Of course, if that's the case, now would be a great time to do so.

That's exactly my point. After their strict no video policy at E3 and this getting somehow leaked, they need to get back and soon, to show the people that the product IS in a better state than what we saw and what was described in the negative previews.

The "insidegamer" who uploaded the video to youtube has a lot of gamescom footage before the Live video, which is a direct capture, not camera footage, so I wonder where this build came from and who captured it. That game that was downloading called castle something was released back in June.

Leak from inside EA? But why now, and why something so old? What are the chances that EA allowed some outlets to capture directly but then changed their mind and said "don't release the footage"?

I'd say it's very likely they've allowed some capturing at E3 but placed an embargo on the footage, which "insidegamer" has gone ahead and broken.

From Kotaku:
EA Sports responds: "The video appears to be captured from a pre-alpha build months ago and is not an official EA Sports release. It does not represent a final build or feature set for NBA Live."

Sounds like the E3 demonstration to me.

The intro looks great, even the glitch at the end before the starting lineup.
pdub, what glitch? I didnt notice anything strange, could you point it out to me?
It was at the bottom of the screen. A piece of the panel was stuck there for a second.

Knowing that this was an earlier build is a welcome relief. I still kinda wished they would of just continued to build from Live 10. I liked that game. I think a year of just working on the gameplay and getting it to a very good point then next year working on presentation and such would of done them wonders. Still hoping they come with a good product this year. Hopefully this early build leak will force their hand a bit to at least show us something to ensure they've improved greatly since this video was made.

As much as I love Live but that was just terrible even for an alpha build or even for an Ipad game. What the heck is going on EA? I like to be optimistic that even thought that Live 13 is not going to be on the PC, it's going to sell well in the console that they have to release one on the PC.

I WAS like NBA live so much especially NBA live 06 but after this game, NBA live's dead...

And when I saw this 10 minute video, I really been sad and disapointed... R.I.P. NBA Live...

Well...
Guess I'll be waiting for something more official.

How about we wait for officially released footage that isn't pre-alpha?

Interesting post by sma11zz99 over at OS:
No way. E3 Build i saw (June) didn't have "Exit Game" and the teams logos weren't all bolded and weird looking in the selection menu. When they went by Nets at E3 it was shadowed out as in they didn't have a logo yet for Brooklyn. This is a later build

Good to see a Live dev around in all this hoopla.

It may be a later build, but how much later? Possibly not much.

The shadow man at the title screen looks like LeBron. In game though players still move like they did back in past live games, and it doesn't look like real basketball. The only thing saving it is the decent presentation and that we don't know what build it is.

Why players such skinny? Why writing on such thin jerseys?

NBA Live 13 Gameplay designer Scott O'Gallagher told me on facebook the footage is from a old build.

22cedric, we also got that info straight from EA in the Kotaku article.

Few things I've noticed.
The Good:
- Presentation
- Faces
- Spacing
- Models
- Commentary
- Shooting
The Bad:
- Animations
- Mechanics
- Dribbling was sub-par
- No 5 Second Post Violation
