Re: No PC Version

Ofcourse OnLive wouldn't be a solution. But, I am saying that even if it did come at least PC Gamers like myself would be given the possibility to at least play the game. The whole idea about the piracy thing would completely vanish. It's better than us permanently being without any of those sports games on PC.
We can at least then download & install the OnLive application to our PC and use our Xbox 360 Controllers as usual to play those games. But currently we aren't even given that opportunity!

I also wouldn't buy an Xbox 360 or a PS3 at this point because these consoles are now outdated. Considering that I have a GTX 560 Ti and a Quad Core, play at 1920x1200 resolution with all the settings maxed out. For me getting a console simply to play one of the few console exclusive titles would be irrational, certainly considering the consoles are over 5 years old. Plus I would also consider it a downgrade.

The general tendency is that old games, particularly PS2 ports don't have much demand anymore. The only reason why PC Gamers are still playing some of the old PS2 ports on PC is because we don't have any new NBA Live games on the PC since 08 (and even that was a PS2 port)!
If I for example now start playing NHL 09 on PC, it's not because I have any particular interest in it, it's because I have no other choice! This would be the only up to date NHL game on the PC. Same goes for the rest of the NBA Live, Madden NFL, Tiger Woods, etc titles on the PC.

Then you'd consider OnLive a downgrade as well.

That is certainly true! :)
But as I said, it would be better to be able to play the game, then not being able to at all. In a basketball game I always take the gameplay as a first and top priority before graphics.
Even for some console exclusive games like Uncharted, if it comes to OnLive, I might still consider buying it, even if the graphics quality is poor due to the poor streaming system, just so that I could experience the gameplay.

The same goes with NBA. It's more about the gameplay than it is for the graphics.
But at this stage I wouldn't spend £200 for an Xbox 360 Console or a PS3. That would be irrational when there are only a few console exclusive games that I am really interested in. But I may be more encouraged to spend the money for that one game, if it at least came on OnLive. I would sacrifice the graphics, just to experience the gameplay.

The problem is we ain't even given that opportunity. EA Sports and Peter Moore are simply trying to persuade PC Gamers to buy a Console to be able to play most of their sports games because that's where they get most of their profits from. This might have worked 5 years ago. But most PC Gamers aren't naive that they'll buy a 5 year old console when the next-gen consoles will come out soon!

I think there's far less of a chance of the game showing up on OnLive than there is being a standard PC version. EA would have to partner with OnLive which is a non-starter, and even on Gaikai they'd have to expend resources on a PC port just to sell like 30 copies.

I'm oldschool in a sense, I never got into modding 2K/Live on PC, so this'll be cool.

Then I'm oldschool too. Never modding.

There isn't PC version. There isn't EA Sports for me, and tens of thousands of people. End of story. Oh.. I forgot: 2K FOREVER.

Patching is pretty old school, it's what this site was founded upon. ;)

2K just unveiled that announcement which felt kind of underwhelming, so Live has a chance to pounce on that and release some information.

I'm not sure if you are referring to the team up community announcement as the "big one" but in case you were, it was a separate announcement to the big one that they are still waiting on announcing the date that it will be announced. Announcement.

That said, the big announcement could turn out to be underwhelming too. EA should still come out with guns blazing as we enter August, though.

EA has missed the ball on no PC version of NBA and Madden for years now and they do not care. Compared to 4 years ago we have more PC gamers. They're worried about piracy well its just as easy to pirate the console versions if you know what google is. How EA is going though we won't be seeing any PC versions if we ever do again. It's sad really because we know if 2k could make an NFL game they would of been releasing it on the PC.

What's sad is how Peter Moore said that the PC platform provides challenges for sports games but 2K has shown that by making a good game you can actually turn a profit, even with the piracy.

I think they should just make an EASBA(EA Sports Basketball Association) non-licensed free to play online basketball game for the PC if they are not planning on releasing Live on it anytime soon.

Re: No PC Version

For whatever it's worth, the official EA Sports Facebook page posted the question: What is your favorite gaming platform?

The consoles are out in front with the PS3 leading the way, but the PC is getting a decent amount of love.

Re: No PC Version

Sun Aug 05, 2012 7:33 am

EA is just cheap you can slow down and protect your game from piracy, but it isn't cheap. If the games weren't so overpriced. Look at 2k if they can do MLB and NBA and make a profit EA can also the problem is EA would port the game over using the same method and do the same amount of work 2k does and would try and charge 60$ for the PC version instead of 19.99 or something. Honestly though I'd pay $100 for a PC version of madden :)

The store zavvi.com disappeared from all versions of pre-orders NBA Live 13 PS3 and Xbox 360. NBA Live 13 will not release?

On the other hand remained in the pre-order version for the PC. Release Date: 12 October 2012
