Editing uniforms

Postby zubinho on Mon Jul 16, 2012 1:01 am

Hi!

I'm new at NBA 2K editing. I'm interested in editing Jerseys.
I feel that I started to understand how does it all works. Now..
Question no.1:
Is it possible to edit number position on jerseys?
Question no.2:
Is it possible to edit namber font?
Question no.3:
I found that number positions cannot be changed so if this i correct I'm
interested in making a list of default NBA 2K12 jerseys with preview of
their number location and collar type. Any help would be appreciated!
(maybe this list is also available but i couldn't find it)

I'm interested in editing jerseys for European teams that plays in
Euroleague,Eurocup, etc.
This is my first try of Cedevita(from Croatia) jersey:

Thabks in advance!

1. No, you need to find a uniform with the number in the proper position and use that iff file as a base
2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTArMhj5Tuk
3. there is no such resource, but collar types are controlled by the roster, not by the iff file
Opinions are my own.

ESPN did most of the work already. Fonts, numbers and collar styles.

For uniform pictures I have JPGs from 2010-11 for all teams. You can see the number locations. If you want them send a PM with your email address. I don't know where I got these so I can't provide a link.

For creating numbers. You can position and re-size a little. Within the original numbers location. Obviously you can export a number (or letters) from one team and import to another but the numbers (or letters) must be in the same location in the PNG file. For example the '2' must be in the same location or within the boundaries of the original number 2.
To create a new number set: (I use PSP X2)
1) export the original number as a PNG using the 3DM tool.
2) open the new image and save the image in your graphics program in a layered format. PSD for Photoshop. PSP for Paint Shop Pro. You can't use this method if you don't use layers.
3) create a new zero (0) on a layer above the original layer. Size and position it within the imaginary boundaries of the original zero. I use guidelines. You can create a stroke (or outline) if you want.
4) do the same for each number. You will have 10 layers. I make a group in PSP to organize and make it easier.
5) sometimes I duplicate the original group. Duplicating in PSP keeps the copy in the same physical location. Edit the second layer which is below the first. I then add a second or possibly third stroke or outline by modifying each numbers stroke.
6) To keep the numbers in the game looking good I add an additional 1 or 2 pixel stroke the same color as the uniform base color. This will be the lowest layer. For example, if you are using the Celtics away uniform, make a green stroke on another duplicated layer.
7) save the image (in the layered format so you can edit if necessary or modify to make the home/away uniform), Save a copy as a PNG.
8) import the PNG and save the IFF file with the 3DM tool. See JaoSmings tutorial above.

Using REDitor II you can change collar styles. It's the JModel in the Jerseys tab.
0 = crew or U shape ex celtics uh005
1 = v neck ex knicks uh014
2 = v tri ex all star uh007/uh030
3 = wishbone/bracketed ex lakers uh015
4 = tri ex grizzlies uh008 rockets alt ux023

Hi i have a good go at editing uniforms but it ends in disaster every time. Was wondering if anyone could have a go at making my fantasy new orleans uniforms. they are the cavs lebron era unis, but with the cavs wordmark swapped out for the new orleans wordmark from their unis. if anyone could try or direct as to whats the easiest method to do this i would be grateful. as soon as i heard tom bensons wife annonuce the new color scheme i thought of these unis.
