So how about matching Asik's offer and then see what we can get for Noah?

But yeah, I'm a little more optimistic than I should ,that he's going to work out well. I would say the same if he was drafted by the heat(though I would probably don't really care on getting into a conversation), as I'm talking about what I've seen.

and what is your scouting report on meyer leonard

A better haircut, that's for sure...

I'm not an NBA scout in order to know everything about the draft ag! Only thing I know for him is that he's really big, with tremendous athletic abilities. Let's hope Portland's curse with injuries isn't going to affect him.

I'm just trying to elicit an unbiased opinion from you. It's obvious you think highly of teague because he was drafted by the bulls. But hey I hope you are right

I do think Leonard will be a bust. I saw a few illini games this year. How is someone that big and mobile not kill his competition? Or at the least have a go to move?

As I said before, my opinion about Teague and his game is not biased, my hopes about his contribution to the team is the one that is ;) I'm always hoping that what Bulls' management chooses is the right option, and of course many of those are not going to work that well. But watching Teague play brings to my mind a mini version of Rose, with less talent of course but with the same characteristics. He's not that talented finisher, or with that control while on air, but he is an explosive player, with good physical skills and a better inside than outside game, just like rose had when he entered the league. Entering the league ,I think he is a little better than his brother was that time, because he has better physical abilities and about the same level of talent. And you can't be biased when mentioning the characteristics of a player, which was what I did. You just say what you see.

I don't know about Leonard's college career, as I was only watching games of bigger universities, but he has the assets to dominate. If you say he doesn't , then it's a shame for him. But the reports are telling that the scouts were impressed in the draft combine by him.

You know, it's tempting, but I say they should take the risk and let Asik go while keeping Noah. It's crazy, but fingers crossed it just might work. ;)

Seriously though, that offer is insane. I know there's a tendency to overpay for bigs, but that much for someone who's been a backup his entire career and still has a ways to go to be a dependable starter? With a third year supposedly in the $12-15 million range? Just...wow. As I said before, I like Asik and the idea of the Bulls retaining him for something in the $5-6 million range to continue being Noah's backup, that would've been reasonable. For that money though? Definitely pass.

Good luck to him though, and congratulations on landing that kind of payday. Can't fault anyone for taking that kind of money when it's on the table.

I don't see it, George. exactly what does he do that is similar rose?? he can't finish above the rim. he doesn't have the explosivenesss to blow by defenders. that pretty much eliminates him from the comparison. i like to drive to the basket. i have long arms. i can run the pick and roll. i guess that makes me a mini rose too lol

If Leonard has the potential to dominate he should have went in the top 3 lol

maybe in a different salary cap situation it would make sense to match Houstons offer.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

He probably plays close to Jeff Teague, I've noticed during games against the Hawks Teague usually runs around kinda like Nash does. If he isn't like Rose then that's probably the only other PG that moves to the basket.

I always seem to come in here once a year & say what I think of rookie. Whilst I've liked past picks at the time like Gibson & Butler, I'm not as sold on Teague as others. To me he's not going to play as a rookie, which isn't unusual for somebody pick at bottom of first round. He'll be 3rd string PG & won't see court time for Thibs. At this stage his jumpshot just isn't good enough, nor his decision making abilities at the point. That doesn't mean he won't be a solid NBA player down the line, since he's got the speed & athleticism to succeed, but for now I can't see him helping the Bulls as a rook. I hope Bulls have good shooting coach, they need to work with this kid's mechanics. It's fixable though, so he could turn into a solid shooter in a few years with adjustments to his mechanics & a lot of time in the gym.

Don't know where any of the mini-Rose comparisons are coming from. Rose was great as a freshman & imposed his will on the game, had a good feel for the game & already made good decisions as a frosh.

Appreciate the insight. (Y) Sounds like about the most you can expect out of your average #29 pick; if he does develop he could prove to be a solid selection as his brother did for the Hawks, though perhaps not to the same extent. Again, that sounds fine to me, he's not a pick with a lot of expectations.

visit more often please

i don't think anyone here has been talking it up much about Asik's final year in houston's offer being a positive (an expiring contract as a bargaining chip)... but i'll say something about it anyway- they'll have ~$31mil in expiring contracts in Deng and Boozer already in the next few years. unless they are trying to get Joe johnson, having another big expiring contract is not a big deal lol

also Houston rescinded their offer to Courtney Lee, making him an unrestricted FA. I think it's a no brainer to go after him. Now if he would just sign for the MMLE...

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Jul 06, 2012 5:40 pm

Courtney Lee would be a great option. His name was concerning the Bulls for a year or so,and it's about time Bulls get active on trying to sign him.Now that the other SG options ,like Allen and Roy, are probably lost,he's a no brainer for sure. By the way,has Rip another year in his contract?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Jul 06, 2012 11:29 pm

Lee sounds good to me, too.

Are they still looking to cut Brewer and Korver?

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Fri Jul 06, 2012 11:58 pm

Rip is under contract until 2013. No recent developments on korver or brewer yet says my "inside sources" lol.

Fair enough. I hadn't read anything about them recently, thought you might've come across something.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Jul 07, 2012 2:42 am

I have read somewhere, I think bleacher report ,so it might not be that legit, something about Korver. That the Bulls' management said to him that he is going to be informed as soon as the off-season talks period officialy begins, meaning July 10, if they are not going to pick his option. So,if he has no news by then, that means he is probably going to stay. But again,it's bleacher report, not the most trustworthy source.

That's because if the Bulls don't waive him, Watson and Brewer by the 10th their contracts automatically become guaranteed.

And the offseason "talks" period started on July 1st.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sat Jul 07, 2012 10:34 pm

there are reports of the bulls being intersted in gerald green and michael redd. an offer to either over the veteran's minimum would be a shocker.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Sun Jul 08, 2012 11:11 am

I wouldn't mind them bringing in either. Their three point shooting at a bargain price would sure beat paying Korver $5 million.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Mon Jul 09, 2012 1:42 am

Hinrich has verbally agreed to sign with the bulls reports Chicago media outlets. No details of the contract though if he got more then the mmle then asik's fate is sealed.

Re: Chicago Bulls Thread

Mon Jul 09, 2012 2:21 am

Welcome back, Captain Kirk. Solid move, though if possible I still wouldn't mind seeing them bring in someone like Green or Redd to replace Korver's shooting at a cheaper price and giving Butler a chance if they want to save some money by cutting Brewer loose.
