NLSC Challenge

Twelve NLSC'ers who were promised draftees in past stories still have draftees made and will be rewarded with a spot in this association. It will be starting in the 2012-13 season, and most of you are projected to go in the first round. Like most of my other stories, there will be contests that will award points that can be used towards your players' abilities and/or situation. Challenge #1 is as follows:

GUESS THE TEAM (50 pts.)

The team I will be using in this association has not been revealed yet. First person to guess the team will be awarded 50 points. Best of luck.

LEADERBOARD:

1T. Valor 0 pts
1T. Justine. 0 pts
1T. Dare 0 pts
1T. Sit 0 pts
1T. Axel. 0 pts
1T. Martti. 0 pts

Miami Heat Win 2012 NBA Championship

Image

The Miami Heat have defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in six games to win the 2012 NBA Championship. After an up-and-down playoff run that saw Chris Bosh miss nine games with a strained abdomen and the Heat face a 3-2 deficit to the Celtics in the conference finals, LeBron James and the Heat bounced back to win their second title in franchise history.

Three-time MVP LeBron James averaged 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the finals, and was named Finals MVP. James was under perhaps more scrutiny than any NBA player in the league's history, but got the last laugh this season, shedding the "choker" and delivering the first title of the "big 3" era.

Iconic Point Guards Nash, Kidd Headline 2012 Retirees

Image

Future hall-of-fame point guards Steve Nash and Jason Kidd surprisingly decided to call it quits, headlining a class of former all-stars ending their NBA careers. Nash, 38, was coming off an all-star season and was expected to be a top free agent, but decided his body "just wasn't what it used to be". Kidd meanwhile won a title in 2010-11 with Dallas and decided at the ripe old age of 39 that he'd had enough.

Former all-stars Ben Wallace, Antawn Jamison and Grant Hill also announced their retirements. Jamison was the biggest surprise of the bunch, being a 13 year pro who had just concluded an unsuccessful stint with the rebuilding Cleveland Cavaliers. Nuggets coach George Karl also opted to call it quits due to persistent health problems.

Below is the full list of retirees:

Steve Nash (PHX) | 16 years pro, age 38 (proj. Hall of Fame)
Jason Kidd (DAL) | 18 years pro, age 39 (proj. Hall of Fame)
Ben Wallace (DET) | 16 years pro, age 37
Grant Hill (PHX) | 18 years pro, age 39
Antawn Jamison (CLE) | 14 years pro, age 36
Marcus Camby (HOU) | 16 years pro, age 38
Jerry Stackhouse (ATL) | 17 years pro, age 37
Juwan Howard (MIA) | 18 years pro, age 38
Jeff Foster (IND) | 13 years pro, age 35

Both kid and Nash retired in my season too.

Any of the top 7 teams would be a good choice of teams to use imo.

Thanks for the shoutout, your stories have inspired me, so I'm glad I'm able to return the favour. :)

I'm hoping you're going to return to the roots of your most successful story, so I'm going to say Golden State. Bring back that drunk Nellie!

BEHIND THE SCENES

Somewhere in Atlanta...

"I'm tellin' you Mike, that's a turrible idea", said an inebriated Charles Barkley who took a puff of his cigar.

"I don't know, man. They let Shaq on Inside the NBA, and everybody hates him," replied Michael Jordan. "How about this Chuck, this hand, I win, and you try to get me a shot on Inside next season."

"And what if one of us wins?", inquired Don Nelson, who was also there.

Jordan scratched his Hitler mustache, then offered, "well the Bobcats do need a coach..."

"Now let me tell you something, I need to use the bathroom", said Barkley, whose seat was quickly taken by a young man in a suit.

"Who are you?", asked Michael.

"Who am I? Don't you remember? Liam? I work for the uh, Blazers, but my contract's up."

Jordan didn't recognize him but shrugged and took a drink. "Alright then. If Eli here wins, he becomes my new assistant GM. If I win, I go on Inside the NBA. Don wins, he's the new coach."

Liam looked at the cards he had. Two aces.
