Can someone tell me what values to put in
MAIN_LOGICAL_THREAD = 1
GPU_LOGICAL_THREAD = 0

CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = -1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = -1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = -1

I really don't understand what's what

My specs:

cpu: Intel core 2 duo e8400 @3.0 GHz
memory: 4gb
gpu:GTX560 Ti 1gb

That looks about right. When I had a core 2 duo my config looked just like that and it ran fine.

yeah but I sometimes get stutters,it comes at random slows the game down like hell (haven't measured the fps) and than after some alt+tabbing, going to pause and resume it goes back to normal so I thought I should tweak the config

With that setup I doubt you will get anything extra in terms of performance by changing it since it should be running flawlessly. That is a six core, correct? I have a six core and the game set mine to 5 and 4 for the main and gpu, then 3, 2, 1, 0 for the cloth in that order.

I'm still having pretty bad performance issues. I don't get it. I have a 8 core intel xeon 2.8 ghz along with 12 gb of ram and an ati radeon HD 6800 with 1 gb of ram. I run about 52 to 53 fps all game but feel like I should be going full 60. Any thoughts?

So here are my new recommended fixes for all of your NBA 2K12 problems. This is what I have after over one month of fiddling with files and settings.

In my case I use D3Doverrider every year to fix VSync issues and to add triple buffering, I find that it works better than the Nvidia Control panel which I set to "Let application decide". MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

First: Your config.cfg (just copy this if you have a dual core and get around 6000 in 3Dmark06)

VIDEOSETTING_ADAPTERINDEX = 0
VIDEOSETTING_WIDTH = 1920
VIDEOSETTING_HEIGHT = 1080
VIDEOSETTING_COLORDEPTH = 32
VIDEOSETTING_VSYNC = 0
VIDEOSETTING_REFRESHRATE = 60
VIDEOSETTING_WINDOWMODE = 0
VIDEOSETTING_MSAA = 2
VIDEOSETTING_MSAAQUALITY = 0
VIDEOSETTING_MAXTEXTURESIZE = 4096
VIDEOSETTING_DEPTHOFFIELD = 1
VIDEOSETTING_FLOORREFLECTION = 1
VIDEOSETTING_PLAYERLOD = 0
VIDEOSETTING_STADIUMLOD = 1
VIDEOSETTING_CROWDDETAIL = 2
VIDEOSETTING_SHADERDETAIL = 1
VIDEOSETTING_SIDELINECHARACTER = 0
VIDEOSETTING_ANISOTROPICQUALITY = 2
VIDEOSETTING_PARTICLEFFECT = 2
VIDEOSETTING_FORCE_HDR_ON_INTEL_GPU = 0
MAIN_LOGICAL_THREAD = 3
GPU_LOGICAL_THREAD = 2
STALL_CPU_ON_END_FRAME = 0
LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH = 2
LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH_SLEEP = 0
STICKYKEY = 498
TOGGLEKEY = 50
FILTERKEY = 114
ACCESSIBILITYKEY_SAVED = 0
LANGUAGE = -482460772
WINDOW_X = 0
WINDOW_Y = 0
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 2
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = 1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = -1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = -1

If you have a quad core or triple core adjust the "CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD" accordingly, if you have a more powerful GPU raise the "VIDEOSETTING_MSAA" and "VIDEOSETTING_MSAAQUALITY" values.

Mods: I take no credit for these but I know they work very well and might have actually increased performance while making the game look better.

Sir, Will these settings give me more fps at gameplay?
my specs are:
Sony Vaio intel i3(sandy bridge) processor
Intel HD3000 integrated graphic card
2gig RAM

I have a question. As I have a low spec laptop can I have moving shorts if player detail is set to medium? If so, do I need to change numbers in cloth logical thread?

You need a dedicated video card. That is an intel integrated chip and won't run games well.

No. You could always try to sell your current computer and get another one with a better graphics card.

No. You need raw performance. You can only get that with a new videocard. I'm assuming you have a laptop. You probably need to get a desktop to run the game well. Getting a new laptop would be more expensive.

There is always onlive. Since it only streams video and audio of the game, it would run with higher quality but still look like a youtube video.

This is how i used to run nba 2k11 with integrated vga laptop(would've work with 2k12 too):
*All settings to low/off and 1280x720 res.
*delete crowd.iff file, biggest fps boost because crowd removed completely, as in training mode.
*Install intel gma modded drivers (google may help to find them). Some performance boost, but laptop will drain battery faster with them.
*Turn off windows aero and run gamebooster to close as many background services.

And under this i could run game at 30-40 fps. Good luck.

He stated that he didn't want to run the game on low settings. If he wants to play high quality with more, he is going to have to pay for it.

i probably got them from here. DL links in describtion
Don't expect a miracle with them. Your game will still be unplayable with high/medium player detail. Only some boost with lowest setting.
As pdub mentioned, your laptop is simply too weak.

Don't know then. But you are able to get external vga for your pc card and play the game at max/high settings.
