Question about Moving CAPs using REDitor

Tue Apr 10, 2012 12:33 am

So with a little time a help from Jao and the tutorial provided with Reditor 2, i've been able to do some cool things with my CAPs that i couldn't do before.

Now i'm trying to infuse roughly 30 fantasy CAPs from one roster to another.

It took me a whole day to find that you can copy a line and paste it into another roster, easy enough(I'm ignorant to hex editing and spreadsheet interface n all that). But a few problems surfaced when I moved my first CAP.

1st thing i noticed : His face was all messed up, which led me to believe that the headscans tab(i know thats not the exact name but I think you get my point) had the CAPs information for facial appearance. I couldn't make heads or tales of the numbers present there.
So, is copying head data similar to copy and pasting base data? Are the ID numbers present in the head tab identical with the base tab(or default tab. maybe its called players tab?)

2nd thing, he had a hairstyle I had never seen before. This could've resulted from not copying proper head data and i noticed that it could be changed in-game without a problem.

3rdly, despite the fact that the CAP was a free agent he was wearing a classic Golden State jersey. I have absolutely no idea on this one.

Anyways as you could imagine when I loaded him up in 2k12, as is, and the game CTDs.

Can you help me realize my latest 2k12 dream roster?

1, the headshapes number coorelate to the headshapeID for the player

2, hair is controlled in the players tab, no idea why that changed

3. check the teamID, I don't think you properly copied all of the information in the players tab

no idea about the CTD

I guess, the source player was free agent, but the destination player was a Warrior. As free agency is controlled by Players tab, but teams' rosters are controlled by Teams tab, this led to the collision.
You are suggested to either paste your player to a slot, which is already FA; or change it's IsFA field value to "0" after pasting, then manually move him to Free Agents via the game.

No idea about hair though... Again, it depends on the slot, you pasted him to.

Thanks you two, I've mucked around with a few things and seem to have 5 or so working already.

Things seem a bit clearer to me now.

thanks again

EDIT:

While Copy and pasting information between rosters i noticed something that is preventing me from doing this fully.

The Roster with my CAPS on it has some 1500+ slots under the headshapes tab.
The Roster Im trying to move them to(Hawk's UBR v11), only has 108 slots under the headshapes tab.

Is this a limitation imposed by the free version of reditor?

Also, I tired using 2k share to move my players, but there seems to be a limit on how many UBR v10 & 11 will accept (9).
After 9 have been downloaded, downloading additional players happens without the prompt "would you like to assign this player to a team". So they don't appear on the roster.

Is this a common problem? Or is it unique because of the way Hawk has structured his roster?

it is unique to Hawk's roster. Advanced versions of the REDitor allow for the deletion and addition of fields. Remember, for generic faces, you only need to copy over the fields that are used by players, so maybe you could sneek them into the 108 rows available. If not, I would recommend using a different roster, since his roster is heavily customized for the 200+ teams he added.

Im trying to my 97-98 Lakers team with the missing players like Van Exel, Fox Sean Rooks ect. I recently bought REDitor and saw here you can copy a player from REDitor in one roster (example Nick Van Exel from Hawk's Roster) and load my roster and paste him on one of the generic players lines in my roster. I did this then went to edit the player, once it crashed as soon as I scrolled to his name on the roster the other time it let me edit player but had some weird things:

1. Van Exel had no jersey on, he was topless with his abdomen section missing
2. He had white shorts
3. His shoes were all weird color's
4. When I clicked the next button to save changes the game crashed.

Am I doing this right or is there another way (a better way) to take a player from one roster to another. I was just highlighting the entire row, selecting "Copy" and then pasting it over one of the generic players on the Lakers 97-98 roster.

Any help would be much appreciated.

that probably happened since the game was trying to have him on a team that didnt exist. Double check his TeamID values in the players tab and try again.
