I'm leading towards Johnny Moore and Alvin Robertson personally. Moore is automatic. I can throw Larry Kenon in the FA Legends list and Bowen would still be available to use because he's on the late 90's Spurs teams.

bruce bowen is a spur legend, his stats may not show it but he was one of the key players on three spurs championship teams and a fan favorite. imo he should be in but it's your decision.

#4 - At some point I want to do a fresh roster swap to a new .ROS file. If I'm bored I may look at doing that this weekend. Everytime I do a roster swap new "issues" (some good some bad) seem to turn up. For example, I know when I do the roster swap some players are going to mysteriously have their "Play Type 1" messed up, which will cause crashes unless I go through and edit each bugged player individually. Typically, it also seems to be that new bugged centers appear. I've asked Vlad to see if he could look into the bugged centers thing, but he is extremely busy. This is why I've been reluctant to swap to a fresh roster file (which may help with your specific issues). I hypothesize the reason you're having the scoring not showing up issues, is because I had to delete historical statistics to make room for more teams in the roster. What I don't understand is why this would be affecting current game stats appearing, but I imagine that is the reason. I may have also deleted a couple of MP fields to help make more room within the roster. There are some things that happen in NBA2K that make no sense when I edit the roster, that's why there are always going to be little bugs. The most important thing is that ALL teams work in quick play, and ALL current teams are updated and work in association.

since timberwolves has only one slot left, i would think of placing doug west in it because, he is one of the original timberwolves players ever since this team was founded or formed. well like i said, i was just suggesting for who is gonna make the cut. but whoever is going to make the final cut for the timberwolves team, im ok with whatever you're place in there. just tried v10 and its awesome! the thing that surprises me is that you can choose the old sonics jersey when you are using okc but when i looked at it, it seems that they were wearing short shorts. well who cares, as long as you get to choose which favorite jersey to want to choose that's all that matters. well i just wanna know if u can make those old school jerseys and change them into the modern day looking outfit of today. but i think this would take up some space or might be time consuming or could make it hard for you though. anyways overall, its worth waiting and its worth downloading!

alright hawk here's my take on these particular teams:


1. heat - jamal mashburn replaces the old eddie jones in a heat uniform.

2. hornets - eddie jones in the prime of his career should be here instead of that heat team.

3. knicks - john starks should take 1 vacant slot. can't imagine the knicks without him.

4. nets - how about buck williams? he spent his best playing days with this team, right?

5. pistons - get the microwave in.

6. suns - tom chambers deserves a spot.

7. warriors - forget the choke incident with carlesimo. angry dunker latrell sprewell should be here.

and i also refuse to include pip on the trail blazers. i dont want to remember him playing with other teams lol

As most of you guys know, we have set a goal to include all the championship teams after 1970 before space runs out. These are the teams we are still missing:

1983-84 Boston Celtics
1975-76 Boston Celtics
1972-73 New York Knicks

Now that player cloning is enabled for V10, team making has become super easy - I updated the tutorial to reflect the changes and highly encourage you to take a shot at the above teams using this!

Tools you need to have at hand:
Basketball Reference | REDitor Free Version | NBA Rating Encyclopedia | 2K12 CF & Portrait List | 2K11 CF & Portrait List | Legends Showcase CF & Portrait List

1. Compiling the players
First of all, check which players are on the team you want to make by going to Basketball Reference to find that team. By default you'll want to make the 12 player playoffs roster (scroll down on the website and you'll see), but in some cases doing the year-starting roster or a mid-year roster may be more beneficial. In any case, check the transactions tab to be sure the roster you have is historically correct at a certain time (e.g. you shouldn't have Derek Fisher and Jordan Hill in the same Lakers 2012 team cause they were traded with each other. If you're doing the Derek Fisher version, you can't have Ramon Sessions either, cause they have never been in that roster together)

2. Creating missing players
After that, check if those players are already in the roster. As of now with more than 200 teams and two legend FA pools, there's a good chance 90% of the players you need are already in the roster. If you find some players absent from the roster, create them from the "Create Player" menu option with the correct name, position, weight, height. This sends your created player to the FA pool for you to sign them later. You might also want to fiddle a bit with signature shots if you have a significant created player so everyone doesn't have the same sigshot. Youtube is your friend.

Don't forget to check the 2K12-2K11-DLC portrait & CF lists to see if the player you're creating has a CF and/or a portrait. 2K12 has some hidden CF's/portraits for players that aren't in the game. There are also some leftover CFs from 2K11 (but not all). By default, all 2K11 portraits are still in game. If you find your player in one of those lists, change their PortraitID and CFID values in REDitor and change the IsGeneric value to 0 to see if he has his CF and/or portrait.

3. Getting them on the same team
Now it's time to get those players on the same team. Starting with V10, this step became as easy as it has never been. Open the create a team menu, you don't need to tinker with anything - Go straight through the second screen and clone the players to your team.

4. Editing ratings
Now that you have all the players you want, it's time to give players their corresponding attributes/abilities/tendencies. Open the Rating Encyclopedia and find your player and the correct year. This file has most attributes and tendencies. PLEASE make sure to change every field. This is the most important step in team making. Do not just copy over the player. Do not fiddle with only the shot ratings. These values affect how (tendencies) and how well (attributes) these players played during that season, so take your time and fill every field according to the Encyclopedia. You can also cross-check some values you may find wrong from Basketball Reference (e.g. if a player has %100 free throw rating, that probably means he only took a handful of FTs that year. Lower that value to be on par with the player's other seasons) and you may also want to change the Abilities tab to play a bit on the overall rating (e.g. a 39 year old Jordan cannot dunk as good as a 29 year old Jordan. Use this tab wisely, don't just pump up your player) You can do these things either in-game from the Edit Player menu or from REDitor. Doing it with REDitor is much more faster but may look complicated for beginners.

You may also want to change the positions of some players at this point (e.g. Tim Duncan was a PF/C on 1998 Spurs but is a C/PF now.) Try to determine where the player played at that year.

5. Pro years/ages/numbers
After you finish the work on player ratings, you need to correct ages/pro years/numbers from REDitor. Basketball Reference has all that info for you. The trick of doing the ages is you have to think like the player is playing today (e.g. Jordan on the 93 Bulls should be born in 2011-29=1982. Take 2011 as today's date for the correct result) Take note: You should add +1 to the pro years because the rookie year is R and the sophomore year is 1 on Basketball Reference while the rookie year is 1 and the sophomore year is 2 on 2K):

A tip for finding your team in the roster: Make reditor sort the players by the TeamID tab and scroll down to find TeamID 96 or 97 - there's your team all sorted.

6. Rotation
After this is done too, start a custom association with your team, go to the Rotations tab and give the players their minutes. Check the starting 5 from Basketball Reference by using the Starting Lineups tab. You can determine how much other players played by checking their minutes from the tables.

7. How to send it
You're done! Export the team as a TMM file again and upload it to a painless filesharing service (SendSpace is nice), then send the link to HAWK23 with a PM. Don't worry about the jerseys, if you're doing a team that played in or after the 80's, there's a high chance I already have that.

If you're having problems starting an association on Step 6, you can also make the rotations from the main menu and send the ROS file to HAWK23.

Hawk, I just wanted to say thanks again for all of your efforts and also thanks to everyone who has helped you make this magnificent mod. I know everyone has put in a lot of hard work and I just wanted you to know it's appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, do you plan to keep on putting out new versions for the forseeable future? I know you're already at v10 and there's still more to do with the championship teams and all-time legends teams, but I was just wondering if you have a plan to release one final version and be done with it or if you will just keep on making updates as time goes along.

hi, i dont know if you even still look at this forum, but ive recently downloaded this file and installed perfectly i believe but when i begin my game and go to quick game. after searching through a few teams it freezes. its not from the roster or settings because even if i remove them it continues do it, i think its from overwriting the files in main folder. it would be much apreciated if you had a fix

Thanks Hawk. i guess im blind. when i make edits to players on the ultimate base roster in terms of ratings, do i always have to re-due them when i get the latest update? or is there a way that i can keep the edits and just add the new content to it? or is there a way to save this content somewhere that no matter what new save i have, all these teams are there without me loading anything?

BTW- the lakers didn't win the championship in 05-06. That was the year of the Heat.

Alright - I'm officially doing it... expanding the All-Time Rosters to a possible 20 slots... this will also give you the ability to trade these players... just beware the Retro Team Rotation minutes will become a bit scrambled, but from what I can tell that won't matter UNLESS you go to the rotation menu to go to those teams and try to edit their minutes.

Regular NBA Teams and All-Time Franchise Team rotation menu/minutes will be fine.

Thanks MJ - alright it's officially done - I enabled the All-Time Franchise Teams to give them ability to hold 20 players on their team at once.

The only thing this negatively affects is scrolling through the rotation menu for the RETRO teams only... current nba teams and all-time franchise teams are fine in the minutes menu... I would not recommend scrolling into the retro teams in the rotations menu.

This is also going to render the Free Agent Legends List useless now that you will be able to pick from those players in the create-a-team menu using the franchise teams - so I think I'll be deleting it...


P.S. You can't trade players away on the All-Time Franchise Team, however now that there are 8 IR spots you can just bury players you don't want to use on the bench

Nah, I don't think so. They were a good team, but not necessary as adding to our running list of "the greatest teams of all time". I mean, if I had the choice, I'm not gonna choose to be the '94 squad over the '93 squad. Just doesn't make sense. For me, the priority is getting as many teams from Conference Finals and Championships as possible. To me those are the 4 best teams every year and the best way to represent this roster. Of course there are some exceptions, but I do feel that we have added some teams that could certainly be taken out. Like the 2003 Wizards for example. Like, really? That team was trash. How about the 2000 Raptors? Team barely went .500. We have teams like this and yet are missing some other great teams like the Dirk-led 2006/07 Mavs. I'm not trying to be critical, but this is just how I view NBA history and give my opinion.

Anyways, since nobody has claimed them yet, I will do the 2001 Lakers for the next update. Surprised nobody's made them yet, one of the best playoff teams EVER. Won't take me long either since it seems like every player is already in-game. Sorry for the rant. I LOVE THIS ROSTER!

Thanks MJ - alright it's officially done - I enabled the All-Time Franchise Teams to give them ability to hold 20 players on their team at once.

The only thing this negatively affects is scrolling through the rotation menu for the RETRO teams only... current nba teams and all-time franchise teams are fine in the minutes menu... I would not recommend scrolling into the retro teams in the rotations menu.

This is also going to render the Free Agent Legends List useless now that you will be able to pick from those players in the create-a-team menu using the franchise teams - so I think I'll be deleting it...


P.S. You can't trade players away on the All-Time Franchise Team, however now that there are 8 IR spots you can just bury players you don't want to use on the bench

So, because you added 20 slots per All-Time Franchise Teams, I can no longer edit the RETRO team rotation? What might happen if I do? Thanks.

I have had a hard time placing any of the players from the 50/60/70/80/90 legends and free agents teams from this download on the normal game rosters (Terrell Brandon, JR Rider, Bob Lanier, Dave Cowens, etc). Everytime I try to either try to trade one of these players to a regular roster, or assign them to to a regular roster, or release in to normal free agency the game (not the computer) crashes and simply "exits" out. Please help.

Ultimate Base Roster 10.1:

Ultimate Base Roster V10.1 *NEW* Ultimate Base Roster V10.1 [171 Retro/Legend Teams + 30 Updated Current Teams]


Major Updates in V10.1:

• All 30 All-Time Franchise Teams now have at least 15-20 players on their roster (extended player rosters)
• Enabled trading, releasing, and assigning for ALL 30 All-Time Franchise Teams
• Some other minor tweaks / player edits / and player adds

IMPORTANT NOTE #1: I highly recommend going to the rotations menu and reviewing the All-Time Franchise Team roations before playing. Since all teams have 15-20 players it's important that you go and select which players you want on your 12 man team that will be eligible to play in your game. Remember some teams have as many as 8 IR spots because I gave these teams extended rosters.

IMPORTANT NOTE #2: Since I was able to give these teams a higher number of roster slots, I was able to place all of those players that were currently in the Free Agent Legends list on their respective teams. This means I deleted the Free Agent Legends list. We can bring it back at some point if we need to, but right now it would hold no purpose.

IMPORTANT NOTE #3: Because I've mirrored some players onto the All-Franchise Teams there is one negative consequence. When you go into the Rotations Menu I HIGHLY recommend that you don't scroll through the Specific Year Retro Teams as you will be constantly asked to "update this team's rotation minutes". The game play still works perfectly and substitutions are made correctly, however because some players are mirrored onto the All-Franchise teams the game gets confused and will constantly ask you to change their minute rotations. So a word of advice: Only scroll through the Current NBA Teams and/or the All-Time Franchise Teams when entering the rotation menu.

As always Current NBA Teams were left untouched and unaffected - and rosters are updated as of 3/28/12.




Major Updates in V10.0:

• 11 new retro teams added (05 Suns, 05 Spurs, 04 Rockets, 01 Mavs, 97 Knicks, 80 Lakers, 77 Knicks, 76 Nets, 75 Braves, 55 Nationals, 55 Pistons)
• Enabled trading, releasing, and assigning for ALL Retro Teams (excluding All-Franchise Teams) – this gives you the ability to choose from ALL players in the roster when creating teams and swap players between all teams.
• “Free Agents Legend Pool” added (works similarly to the regular FA pool – doesn’t affect association mode).
• Each All-Time Franchise Legend Team now at least 9 players on their rosters, they also have a legendary head coach
• Added custom art/logos for 55 Pistons, 55 Nationals, 75 Braves, 76 Nets (and other surprise retro logos)
• Added 65+ new cyberfaces (courtesy rlambert, Jaelove Laker06)
• Added 40 new jerseys as alternate selections for current/all time teams (courtesy rj86 – converted by Nuhmete)
• Added 7 new retro arenas for teams (courtesy francis27nba and RETRO)
• Coaches added to reflect accuracy
• Tweaks/modifications/edits made to tendencies and abilities for some players for improved game play
