Of course 2004is the best, cuz it's the newest one, but there will always be a special place in my heart for live 98... The awesome official tnt/tbs prsentations (with Ernie Johnson & vern lundquist, who i don't remember ever being on TNT) and the first with the GM/Franchise/Dynasty mode and also the long forgotten 3 point shootout (which made a fun mini game when you got tired of playing real games).

and mp3, I'm gonna say it's Baron Davis on the cover of 2005.

Nice thread. I only started playing in 2003, so I can't say I've been a long time fan, but it was nice seeing all the older editions.

I've been playing NBA Live since it first came out on sega megadrive, I liked it when there was still the player of the week award as well as the player of the month, that made me play better because i wanted my player to get the award. I don't know what year that was but i wish they get that back on 2005. And they should give out the award accurately!!!

Has anybody won the player of the month or rookie of the month in 2004??? A triple double average couldnt even get me the award!

Live 2002 is the only one i havn't played before.

NBA Live is great.

But it's not as good as my expectation...

Although EA improved the game every year, they did took away many good things and replaced by some minor (or even bad) things year by year.

I do hope Live 2005 will not disappoint me...

The major change came with the new production team in Live 2001... Live 2000 was the last product of the good old production team and it was near flawless. Those guys knew what they were doing... 2001 was mostly created by the old team, but got replaced during it and it's been a roller coaster since then. They messed up the franchise mode in 2001. In 2003 they made every shot fall if it wasn't blocked and every shot get swatted into the 11th row of the arena. In 2004 they made the players bump and grind effect and the double team animation thing... They have created something new too, though... I'm just saying that the game would be pretty solid had the old team stuck around, but would we ever have seen freestyle and others if it weren't for the new team...

The new team is finding their niche in this game and are getting better every year... So I don't think they are quite finished with it yet... Hopefully they can iron out the flaws and implement their additions better this year... I'd like to see a product that does not have any apparent flaws.

The first NBA Live game i played was Live '96 and since then i had the obsession of following up the new Live games every year. I would say my favorite would be '97 coz i like the commentators and the game play, plus that was the first series that featured the franchise mode so i built up my team untill 2006-2007 season (9 seasons). The next best series would be 2004 coz it was a major improvement from 2003 (which really sucked at gameplay coz it was too unrealistic) but in fairness it had the most patches made for, and also many new patchers emerged during that time. I'm hoping 2005 could make adjustments, one that leaves out all the flaws and brings in a new generation of realistic basketball gaming experience. :)
