Talk about NBA 2K12 here.

hi guys
I'm playing My Player as a 6'11'' PF and got drafted by the 76'ers after a good rookie game. However after playing through half the season, we're 14-25 or something and my team mates seem to lack any sort of spark. I had a look at nba.com (real life ie) and I see that they're currently top of the with 17-7. What gives? Surely they should be better than this????

One's real life, one's a video game. While the latter attempts to emulate the former as closely as possible, the results aren't always going to spot on. There are also two important variables here: the Sixers are doing a little better than a lot of people expected, and sports video games naturally have (and rely on) user input/intervention which yields results that may or may not always reflect real life.

Yes I know that but in Fifa, Man United will almost ALWAYS win, same with Chelsea, Liverpool, etc etc. I assumed the 76'ers were like that. maybe its because I don't follow NBA very much (or haven't since Scottie Pippen was still playing) and therefore don't know the strengths of the teams.

Different sports, different games, different variables in the sim engine.

Your Sixers probably should be doing better than that but at 17-7 they are also doing a bit better this year in real life than was expected.

yeah fair enough....thanks mate.

Even if you sim a season with the same roster, you will always get different results. Some teams may be better than in RL others may be worse. Otherwise it would be quiet boring to me anyway.

i took a championship with THE BUCKS! does that feel heroic to you?
if i did that, you can do it too.
try to change the difficulty or upgrade yourself to the point you can do anything and you will carry the team to new heights.
Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:42 pm
yeah, my problem is that I'm doing a LOT of the scoring - wtf, c'mon guys...
Tue Feb 07, 2012 7:02 pm
ask for a trade or start a new career
Tue Feb 07, 2012 11:48 pm
If you started with default rosters, beginning a new career is probably the way to go.
Wed Feb 08, 2012 9:14 am
yeah default rosters - was about halfway through when I found this site. can you turn off the auto trades? We were on a good run at the beginning and both Iguodala and I were sharing the scoring when suddenly...no Iguodala!! yeah I think I'm going to request a trade.
As I'm new to NBA again...what are the best teams in each conference? All I know is:
1. Miami Heat
2. Chicago Bulls
3. Boston Celtics
4. NY Knicks
5. LA Lakers
what else? I'd love to win the NBA championship but want to do it in a good scoring team (even if I have to start on the bench).

Unfortunately you can't disable trades. The official patch does tweak the trading logic in My Player, but unfortunately it hasn't been released for the PC version as yet.
As of this post, the six division leaders are Chicago, Miami and Philadelphia (in the East) and San Antonio, Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder (in the West). They're all up there in terms of talent in addition to their current place in the standings, the Celtics and Lakers are looking weaker so far this year but still have pretty good rosters. The Knicks have some good players, but aren't performing all that well at the moment. The Blazers, Nuggets, Mavericks, Pacers, Hawks and Magic also have decent to good rosters, though some of them don't have outstanding records at the moment. That's kind of the way it's gone following the lockout.

If you're good youll win doesn't matter which team you play in since every team does good trades the moment you step on their uniform

In 2K12 DRose is an average to below average player, either sim or play (with CPU controlling him). In real life he's an MVP.
Thu Feb 09, 2012 12:05 pm
yeah I requested a trade in my first season with the 76ers - requested:
1. Heat
2. Bulls
3. Celtics
Got traded to the Heat but realised they traded LeBron James for me! doh!! he's the main reason I wanted to join the heat!

NBA 2k12 trade logic at your best!

One of the best reasons why I don't use autosave.
Thu Feb 09, 2012 2:12 pm
I do have autosave off and actually make multiple copies of each save (after each game) in case something happens to one or I want to change something (eg. like not requesting the trade, etc).
Thu Feb 09, 2012 11:18 pm
Definitely messed up, but certainly flattering.
Fri Feb 10, 2012 8:43 am
lol I hear ya
Fri Feb 10, 2012 8:46 am
actually, quick question - I normally play as a PF but sometimes I get shifted to SF or C or PG. I can play C but I'm unfamiliar with what SFs and PGs do - is that because I'm having a bad game that I get moved or the opposite?
Fri Feb 10, 2012 8:57 am
The opposite, it means you're wanted in the lineup and your skillset is versatile enough to allow you to play at a couple of different positions. Very versatile, if it's placing you at point guard some of the time, though that could be an error with the substitution AI as well.

ah ok thanks

James is always the first to go when asking for a trade with Miami...I've tried 3 times, always the same result. A 69 rating PG for a very skilled SF like Lebron? whats up with that!
I check the rumor mill from time to time, Lebron is asking for a trade!..What? Heat has the best record in the East, and Lebron wants a trade?

The Decision II? smh
