PC Performance issues solved

Postby 2Kstealscash on Fri Nov 11, 2011 3:31 am

My N51vn-A1 hooked up to a Vh222h gets around 52 FPS with this config file.
More specifically 50 while inbounding, 47 taking the ball cross court, 54 passing cross court, 60 during dribble penetration in a half court set.
-I play with the 2K camera set to 8 and 5 with zoom on.
-for some odd reason my frame rate gets into the single digits for a second during the flashy intro when the 2k logo fills the screen

VIDEOSETTING_ADAPTERINDEX = 0
VIDEOSETTING_WIDTH = 1920
VIDEOSETTING_HEIGHT = 1080
VIDEOSETTING_COLORDEPTH = 32
VIDEOSETTING_VSYNC = 0
VIDEOSETTING_REFRESHRATE = 60
VIDEOSETTING_WINDOWMODE = 0
VIDEOSETTING_MSAA = 2
VIDEOSETTING_MSAAQUALITY = 0
VIDEOSETTING_MAXTEXTURESIZE = 4096
VIDEOSETTING_DEPTHOFFIELD = 1
VIDEOSETTING_FLOORREFLECTION = 1
VIDEOSETTING_PLAYERLOD = 0
VIDEOSETTING_STADIUMLOD = 1
VIDEOSETTING_CROWDDETAIL = 2
VIDEOSETTING_SHADERDETAIL = 1
VIDEOSETTING_SIDELINECHARACTER = 0
VIDEOSETTING_ANISOTROPICQUALITY = 2
VIDEOSETTING_PARTICLEFFECT = 2
VIDEOSETTING_FORCE_HDR_ON_INTEL_GPU = 0
MAIN_LOGICAL_THREAD = 1
GPU_LOGICAL_THREAD = 0
STALL_CPU_ON_END_FRAME = 0
LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH = 2
LIMIT_FLIP_QUEUE_LENGTH_SLEEP = 0
STICKYKEY = 510
TOGGLEKEY = 62
FILTERKEY = 126
ACCESSIBILITYKEY_SAVED = 0
LANGUAGE = -482460772
WINDOW_X = 0
WINDOW_Y = 0
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_0 = 1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_1 = 2
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_2 = -1
CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD_3 = -1

Like every year change CLOTH_LOGICAL_THREAD to the amount of CPU cores you have, GPU_LOGICAL_THREAD to amount of GPU's, and MAIN_LOGICAL_THREAD to CPU threads.

If you are still playing very smoothly after this I recommend you bump up VIDEOSETTING_MSAA and VIDEOSETTING_MSAAQUALITY as needed, with of course the resolution.

I actually don't have stuttering but I use D3Doverrider (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4F41ORNN) for tearing. As you can see the game is maxxed out besides for AA.

-I have all the latest mods excluding the ENB mods.

My system is equivalent to a i5 520m and a Nvidia GT 330m. Basically anybody with a decent CPU who also gets 6000+ in 3dmark06 should be able to play with at least these settings. The desktop equivalence to my setup is a Intel i3-530 and Nvidia GT 220.

-In most cases don't have physx enabled. (turning on PhysX/Havok might help people having problems if they have a weak CPU and solid GPU.)
-I think fast hard drives help in this game.
-Its a straight up port so anybody with comparable hardware to a XBox is fine.
-With the photomod I had to bump the res down to 1440x900 to get smooth gameplay.
-YOU NEED A GAMEPAD
-Turn off antivirus, in my case bitdefender goes into automatic game mode.

currently I have a total of 2 or 3 one second stutters a game

This game doesn't even use the full power of my cpu and graphics card while playing the game. I have a core2 duo e6750 and an amd hd6850 radeon.

Cpu usage rarely gets above 90 and gpu usage is in the 40s during game play. It only jumps to 100 in the menus.

With the recent reveal of older 2ks using old dreamcast code for online play, I wouldn't be surprised if the game was j using just a heavily modified dreamcast engine.

Many of you guys with your modern processers, ram and video cards should be running this game at 200 fps.

I agree the game only uses 80-85% of my cpu and I have a 2 year old mid range laptop, I can easily get 75+ fps playing on the xbox resolution of 720p, but I have a weak laptop GPU so that gets used 100%

Well that's about right for your rig, seeing as your GPU is identical to mine you actually aren't having any problems. You can actually set the MSAA to 2X if you like too but, the ENB mods slowdown performance on weaker graphics cards up over 60% so you have no other option unless you want to tweak the mod and maybe get 45 FPS

That dip in your fps is due to the ambient occlusion in the enb series mod that gives you the shadow effect.

Basically all you need to do is use D3Doverrider instead of in game vsync and stop using ENB mods. Also copying my config file into yours would help too if you want he best quality too.
Also make sure the CPU settings are done right (number them for up to four cores since this game has 4 threads and you can correspond each thread to a core, also setting the logical thread to 2 for dual core and so on is helpful as is setting gpu thread to 1)

All in all this is an extremely well optimized game, as opposed to some of 2K's other franchises such as Mafia 2 which I on low settings jut to get 45 fps...

I actually hope that this engine is used in all future NBA 2K's because I'm not planning to spend money on new hardware anytime in the next three years, Although I would be fine with just bumping the res down to 720p since it looks awesome on my old plasma as well. I just don't understand why all console ports aren't well optimized for PC's like this game is.

it optimizes Directx and sets the vsync at any number under the refresh rate instead of 60 or 30, and also triple buffers

Lower the resolution.

That doesn't sound right at all. With an i3 processor you should be running the game on max settings, even with that graphics card. Do you play with your laptop unplugged? Maybe all your video card settings are maxed in the AMD control center.

maybe its the 3d that i should keep for optimun or performace setting?

I'm not sure if your i3 has a built in graphics processor, but if it does, I bet the game is using it instead of your dedicated card.

Hello, I was hoping someone could help me get my game running smoother.
Looking at this thread I think my game should run fine on max settings but it barely scrapes 30fps with everything on low.

Here are my specs:
Asus k42jv notebook running Windows 7
core i5 430m
nvidia GT335m
4GB RAM

I just reinstalled Windows so my computer is basically good as new, so I have no idea what else to do...

Any help would be appreciated!
