Need help editing portrait.iff with NBA2KX Mod Tool

I'm working on making a historic roster and to start off the project, I wanted to edit the portrait.iff to add the photoshopped portraits I just made. For some reason however, its acting buggy whenever I open either portrait.iff or portrait_hi.iff files. It doesn't show the actual portrait to the side and whenever I try to export it, it gives me some Java error. I don't think it's a problem with the program, as I tried the same process with the NBA 2k11 portrait.iff file and it worked perfectly.I did download the one under NBA 2k12 on the downloads tab of this site, so I should have the updated version of the tool. Is it a problem on my side or is the tool not yet compatible with all the files in this game? If it isn't compatible, what do I need to do to edit the portrait file?

the tool hasn't been updated (yet) for 2k12, but since it was mostly compatible with 2k12 files I moved it to the 2k12 downloads section

I was able to use the decompressor tool , and decompress the portrait.iff file then I loaded that one into the mod tool, but I can't figur out how to compress the file back down to go into the game

you dont have to compress it after, just move the files from the decompressor folder into the game directory

no, you can just give out the dds files and make the downloader import it though
