NBA 2K12 Patch 1.03 Out Now (PS3, 360)

A new official patch (v1.03) is out now for the PlayStation 3 version of NBA 2K12. The Xbox 360 version should also be receiving the update soon. Based on Ronnie's previous tweets about PC patches, the PC version will be receiving a combined update with the fixes from the console updates at some point; history suggests January or February at the earliest.

Release Notes:

GAMEPLAY

• On-dribbler steal success rates have been tuned down.
• Tuned accuracy of directional passing in order to more reliably pass to the intended target.
• Improved help defense, specifically for rotations on pick-and-roll situations.
• Defensive tuning on 3PT shots to reduce the success of contested threes.
• Addressed an issue on drives to the basket where the help defender wouldn’t fully engage in the double team.

ONLINE

• Several matchmaking optimizations have been made in order to help users get into games quicker. This will reduce the amount of time the “Searching For Opponent…” screen is displayed for.
• Addressed a number of network errors that would cause games to end prematurely.
• Addressed an issue in Team-Up where certain conditions would lead to a player standing idle for prolonged periods of time.
• Corrected a Win/Loss streak tracking issue such that the “Back to Back to Back” achievement/trophy will now unlock at the proper time.

Congratz on the PS3, XBox360 getting another patch. Although there's no fix as far as I can see for the bad trading or the terrible sim system...meh...

As I understand it, there is a larger patch coming that's likely to address gameplay modes and probably other gameplay issues as well. Seems they're just including a few quick gameplay fixes along with another patch for online issues.

I wonder if PC will ever get any patch lovin'

Improved directional passing sounds good, the occasional inaccuracies in that department are one of my pet peeves with the game.

no word on if we can edit players ages with this patch? ps3 users, i am lookin at you. i cant start my association til i can edit legends back into rookies, and sign them to the proper teams each year,.. instead of playing with cpu generated rooks. yeah, im treating it as if next year is the year Bill Russell entered the league. each year i will add whoever came in with the next draft. but i guess... i can only do that in 2k11 til this is patched. there i was gonna have 2012 = 1980 when magic and bird were rooks.... but i wanted to wait and do it with more legends featured in 2k12. so, being able to edit player ages is really important to me. otherwise... i guess i will just keep playing myplayer and watch the whole nba swap every player till its unrecognizable....

The only things this patch does are listed in the first post. As I said before, my guess is that it's basically another attempt at fixing some online issues and they've been able to make some quick gameplay fixes at the same time. My understanding is that there will be a larger update coming out with a laundry list of fixes/additions, though editing player ages may or may not be among them. That's something that's probably best tweeted to Ronnie or posted on the official 2K boards.

On ball stealing isn't the issue. The issue is the bump steal - bumping the ball away from the ball handler. That is not engaged with a steal attempt, but rather with simply running into the ball handler. Toning down on ball steal success does not fix the in game easy steal issue.

Perhaps that's intended as a bandaid fix or they misunderstood the feedback. Hopefully the larger update offers a better solution.

I love 2K for making great basketball games for PC, but cmmon make a F***** patch for PC once and a while!

2k copies most of the pc mods from last year and implements them this year and still no love returned from them, pc users still get patches so very late.

Yes, it's just a minor patch, supposedly a bigger one is yet to come. Probably end of this month or December at the earliest for consoles, January or February for PC.

Not yet but again it's a small update, most likely another attempt at fixing the online issues with a few small gameplay fixes thrown in.

Patch has been approved by Microsoft and as such should be available for Xbox 360 users soon. No word on the PC patch, though Ronnie's speculation is that it will likely have to wait until all the updates for the console versions are released, which would be in line with his previous suggestion of a combined update for the PC version.

You can't.

Patch for PC will come down the road middle/end February 2012 as it was in 2009,2010 and 2011. Same procedure as every year, nothing new.
