Talk about NBA 2K12 here.

2 Reasons 2k12 is Better then Ever - IGN
Gamers have come to expect that annual sports games will be marginally improved versions of the previous game. Last year we gave NBA 2K 11 an astonishing 9.5, the Sports Game of the Year title, and listed it as one of our Top 100 modern games (one of only two sports games on the list). That's quite an accomplishment, and it was well deserved. But get this: Everything I've seen of NBA 2K12, and I mean everything, is better than last year. All of it. But two things stand out as the coolest parts of the game for me thus far.

Game play is the #1 most important aspect of a game. This IGN article doesn't even mention it.
It covers MyPlayer without mentioning if teammate AI, or game play in general, is improved in that mode. It covers the all time great mode without mentioning game play. It describes presentation, the number of teams available, and that some old time games are in black and white.
How is game play not even mentioned? Imagine a car reviewer writing about a new model car, giving top two reasons it's improved as a built in MP3 player and an upgrade from a small spare to a full sized spare in the trunk. What's the engine like? What's the gas mileage? How does the car perform?
What good are all the MyPlayer improvements if the game play in that mode isn't improved. Do team mates play better. Will the 65 rated rookie oust a superstar? If the MyPlayer makes it into the Lakers starting lineup as a PG, will he be dishing the ball to an active Kobe, setting up for 3's, or taking over games because the rest of the team does little to win? Do the teams in the all time mode substitute tired players? In pre-3-point years do teams play differently because there's no 3 point line? Is Bill Russel a beast on the boards coming near his season 24.1 RPG when a human controlled team plays against those Celtics? Or, like in 2K11 and past versions is it tough for a computer controlled top rebounder to grab lots of rebounds?
It's concerning that it's getting close to release but the top most important game aspect has been mentioned very little.

I wouldn't pay articles like this too much mind, it's basically just hyping info that's already been revealed without adding anything new. The Developer Insights are likely to give us much more info and according to Ronnie 2K, there'll be more on gameplay this week including a word from Mike Wang. I dare say that'll be more interesting and worthwhile to read than a fluff piece from IGN.

Let's hope so, because with this NBA lockout this is a rough year for Bulls fans. Just when it looked like the Bulls were growing and poised for a true run to the title - lockout.

Let's also hope that there are no major technical problems, bugs, or glitches that can ruin the game

Absolutely. It was a great year all around last year, it's a shame to see the lockout stand in the way of that momentum.

My 2 reasons:
You can play it at PC with same console quality.
You can create your own shot. As I mentioned, Shaq release-Marion jump.

Oh pleasse! It would be better if you can actually foulout someone.

Where was this confirmed?

Who needs actual gameplay improvements when there can be more nostalgic stat-padding missions?

But they have made gameplay improvements.

+Perhaps my post was a little unfair. I meant it almost as more of a criticism of IGN and the priority placed on the stat padding missions than it is on the gameplay itself. As someone who primarily plays association mode and online, it's somewhat disappointing to me for the lion's share of the effort to be put towards presentation.
It is selfish of me though, as there may have been people who actually enjoyed playing the Jordan modes. Still, $60+tax for essentially 2K11 with a retro mod and My Player gimmicks is a hard pill to swallow. I'm sure 2K12 will be like the previous game in which it's true improvements were not advertised. (the fact that they added defense back into the game after the shockingly bad 2K10)
2K12 should be looking at another 9+ though. Based on that article, the reviewer would likely be Gerstmanned if he gives it anything lower (whether the game is good or not)

It's definitely a fluff piece with no new information, which is why I decided against posting it on the main page.
We have received some good news on gameplay and My Player in the last couple of weeks though. An Association Insight is bound to come in the near future, too.
