The Kings may have been better with Mike Bibby but I think Jason Williams made them more fun to watch.

Ok, but that's a matter of giving editable options not a problem of the mode itself. I mean: to play WITH Jordan is easy, but to play AS jordan is not. To play WITH Big O is easy, but to play AS himself is not. I want say that is easy to win with an excellent team but is hard to perform just like those guys did. If the mode is centered on players, you have to make the gamers struggle to perform like the classic guys. If you want to dominate with Pippen, that's why they gave you him. But the guys that want to exploit Jordan will exploit him even on Pippen mode.
C'mon man, if you just want to play the way you like, the teams will be available in exhibition, but I think the way you want we are losing a GIGANTIC part of recreating NBA moments, wich is recreating the great performances of great players. And when a team win something because of a great group like the pistons in their last title, you just give people team objectives, not individual ones.

I should really get a copy of the game. Looking forward to the black and white era!

I hope we can apply that short shorts thing to Ron Artest, Dennis Rodman and John Wall.

Wow, the 76er's thing just went from weid to utterly sureal.
Here's the roster:
1984-85 76ers: Maurice Cheeks, Clint Richardson, Julius Erving, Bobby Jones, Moses Malone, Clemon Johnson, George Johnson
Not only is Barkley missing, but so are Andrew Toney, Sedale Threat, Marc Iavaroni(who is in the game as a assistant coach) and Leon Wood.
Yet there is a second 76er's team that unlocks as you play, like jordan's shoes last year, that is:
1976-77 76ers: Henry Bibby, Doug Collins, Julius Erving, George McGinnis, Darryl Dawkins, World B. Free, Steve Mix, Harvey Catchings, Mike Dunleavy, Joe Bryant
Which begs the question, Who not just use that one for Dr. J.'s challenge?.
Oh well, at least that's not quite as messed up as Kareem's challenge being a year when he was 39 years old, and averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.6 steals.

I don't think this mode is a "challenge" anymore, it's all about winning, who the hell can't win a game??? I'm not amazed with this huge amount of players/teams, because the mode is just not a mode, is just exhibition to unlock exhibition. The only thing that makes me happy is the fact that with that number of classic players will be easier for the guys here that make classic mods.
I mean is not Julius Earving challenge, because you can use much more Moses Malone. And there will be a lot of people using Dr. J like Lebron.
EDIT: there's 30 teams out there, they could make so much more with these beautys...

OH we are gonna be on it quick to hmmmmm maybe 95-96 season next year

we will see but i think that would be a funner season for us plus we need a change

Don't care too much about the challenge, just the fact that the classic players are there, in the game. I too don't like the fact that there are so many Laker teams.

I agree that there should be a player lock option (don't they have that anyway?). I think 2k dropped the ball a little by not having at least one challenge for each player & some of the player choices (after they were past their prime). It's not even really a greatest challenge version, it's just the normal game with old NBA rosters and a bunch of classic teams. I'd like to see NBA 2k have all the great classic teams, like about 50-60 of them plus all-time rosters for each franchise. Now that would be impressive

I agree I may not be interested in playing all challenges but they should of had them added, and also yes there is a player lock option however I always turned it on by accident

not really sure how I did it but if anyone knows please enlighten me

There's supposed to be a code, so if someone gives u=it out, we could possibly use the teams.

Pretty pointless to make us use a code if we can just share it all over the internet

why even have a code if that's the case

yeah the sad irony of it is that us pc gamers have had access to most of those retro players for years but its still cool to have a lot of retro players for the mods

While I'm still enjoying the fact there will be so many classic teams in the game and that there are some good teams to choose from in that regard, the absence of any challenge beyond winning the game is a bit disappointing. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some achievements/trophies for recreating certain statistical feats but it does remove some, well, challenge from the mode when all you have to do is win the game.
Clearly they couldn't get absolutely everyone's likeness rights (and again I have to agree that the 1985 Sixers are an odd choice given they couldn't include Barkley) but good to see they have at least eight players for each team, which means there shouldn't be any issues with no CPU substitutions. At least three subs, no generics and only a few noteworthy names left out for legal reasons is a step up from last year. Not quite the full rosters that IGN alluded to, but better.
Shame the 1991 Warriors and 2002 Kings will be pre-order only. It would've been nice if they did what THQ does with the WWE games and make pre-order bonuses available later as DLC, but clearly they want that added incentive to pre-order. Oh well.

Maaaan, this lockout year is just the perfect time for you guys making classic mods. And now that 2ksports is introducing some good presentation changes to classic games, maybe you guys figure out a way to use with the mods. We have old school globals, ball, etc. It will be great!!!
Yeah, I know there are people who is not interested in challenges and stuff, but I think is like a downgrade to not even giving us the option. These guys from 2ksports know how to sell games every year, they just don't put all necessary foolish features, like giving an option to edit quarter time to Jordan mode. Not giving the option to turn play animations on my player. And we catch us thinking: "Wow, this year they fixed what I wanted!!"
I mean, this game is just awesome, but there's a few things that we just can't understand...

Yeah, can't say I'm as ecited about this now as I was a week ago. And what's with the 70-71 Lakers being in twice? And the 86-87 Lakers playing the 85-86 Celts, who are also in twice? Or is the latter a typo?

Which is silly, since they get the same money either way. Where's the best place to preorder and get the US version? Don't want to be stuck with a lack of various logos on the courts and whatnot this year.
Another thought: What happens if you play two teams from different eras against each other? Which rules/presentation are used?
