Injury

Postby Cruzerr on Mon May 30, 2011 12:21 am

Another training, another injury

Image

To be honest, if you consider Terrence Williams last season and this season, it is a vast improvement. Right now, the man is in the race of becoming the Most Improved Player of the season, as he is averaging 18.7 Points Per Game, 5.1 Rebounds Per Game and 2.7 Assists Per Game. Since he has been in Cleveland, his game has risen.

But another thing that really hurts this young 23 year old man out of Louisville, is the fact, that he has dealt with a lot of injuries in his season. As he strained his abdomen in the early part, he has been dealing with ankle sprains and knee strains.

But now, another injury has struck him, as he has Plantar Fasciitis : a heel bone injury. With that, he will miss another 2-4 weeks with recovery. T-Will does not seem happy, as his greatly improved season is mostly kept him dealing with injuries : " It is tough. I want to contribute to my team as much as I can, but the injuries keep me away."

Many players have played with this injury as Tyreke Evans, Rajon Rondo and Tim Duncan, but the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Byron Scott, does not want to play the man. " If he gets even more injured, it will be bad for our team. Better be safe and sorry."

As Cleveland take on a rough schedule, facing Miami and Orlando, Donte Greene will take his spot and hopefully he can contribute and take the roll of the great man.

Cavs @ Heat

Postby Cruzerr on Mon May 30, 2011 11:46 pm

Cleveland tops Miami as Griffin scores career high

Image

First Quarter

As this is the battle of the top seeds in the East, LeBron James must have felt the pressure, as he would face his old team in his new kingdom.

However, with the play of Donte Greene, James did not have a chance to shine on the spot light. The first quarter was really neck-and-neck as both teams scored pretty evenly.

Heat felt the loss of Wade as Miller could not step up his game. Miami did go on a small run in the end, but it did not make a difference, as it ended 31-26.

Cavaliers top scorer : D.Greene 8 PTS 2 REB 1 AST 1 STL 2 BLK
Heats top scorer : L.James 9 PTS 1 REB 3 AST 2 STL

Second Quarter

LeBron knew that they would need something to still keep the Cavaliers behind them, and so he started to take the game over. With the help of Bosh, "The Big Two" took on a huge roll and really wanted to take the game away.

But for their misery, Blake Griffin alone started to dominate, as he scored all of his points in the second quarter. His great play motivated the likes of Greene, DeRozan and Parker to step up, and so they did as they took the lead.

Heat still needed a bit help as both Miller and Chalmers also started to contribute, but with Eyenga hitting a three in the end, the half finished 61-59 for Clevelands advantage.

Cavaliers top scorer : B.Griffin 18 PTS 3 REB 1 AST 1 BLK
Heats top scorer : L.James 15 PTS 2 REB 3 AST 3 STL

Third Quarter

It started off really intense, as both teams changed a lot of points and none of them could control the other. LeBron and Bosh both stepped up at sometime, but with the huge play of Griffin, who was backed up by Parker, DeRozan and Greene, the Heat had no chance.

With two minutes left on the clock, Cleveland started to dominate even more, as they continued to build on their impressive lead. As DeRozan hit a buzzer-beater in the end, the third finished 99-87, with Heat needing a miracle.

Cavaliers top scorer : B.Griffin 27 PTS 7 REB 3 AST 2 STL 1 BLK
Heats top scorer : L.James 26 PTS 3 REB 3 AST 3 STL

Forth Quarter

Things started off pretty big, as both teams traded points really huge and intensely. Cleveland did not give up the lead while Miami did not give up being on their heels.

When DeMar DeRozan gave not one..but two alley-oops for Anthony Parker, the Heat fired up their cylinders and really looked to dominate Cleveland. They edged the game really close but with Parker being on fire and Blake still being unstoppable, Cleveland extended the lead once more.

LeBron stepped up again , and with 20 seconds on the clock, Mike Bibby hit a three to get the game to three. However, with Bosh camping on defense, Parker got to hit one free throw and extend the game to four. It was up to Blake to make the game even more further, but he missed both of his two free throws.

With 10 seconds on the clock, the ball was given to LeBron who tried to hit a three but missed. After that, Varejao rebounded the ball and passed it upfront to Griffin, who hit a whirlwind in the end, to finish the game in 131-125.

Press Conference :

"LeBron, how do you feel that a rookie went blow-for-blow with you in points ?"
"Well, if that rookie is Blake Griffin, it is no wonder. The guy is a menace."

"Blake, do you know that you dropped a career high 36 points?! How does that feel?"
"It feels like I am a beast. Dropping 36 is great every time, but dropping it while having to guard LeBron and being against Miami? Its crazy."

Conclusion :
After they win this game, Cleveland is just one game away from taking the number one seed away from Miami. Heat on the other hand have to step it up, and handle without Wade.

Orlando @ Cavs

Postby Cruzerr on Wed Jun 01, 2011 6:22 pm

Cleveland takes another one as they defeat Orlando

Image

First Quarter

With both teams coming off some really needed battles, as Cleveland got the win over Miami and Orlando burned Boston in OT, this matchup is a great one, as one team needs in to get the lower seed, while the other one needs wins to get the bottom seed.

It was pretty intense from the start. Both teams traded points and neither of them took a big lead. At some point, Cleveland got a bigger run with their great shooting from the field, but when Q-Rich came from the bench, he was on fire and scoring from everywhere. He hit the final shot of the quarter, finishing it 26-25 for Clevelands advantage.

Cavaliers top scorer : B.Griffin 8 PTS 4 REB 1 AST
Magics top scorer : Q.Richardson 7 PTS

Second Quarter

It started off dull as both teams did not want to score. After Cleveland dropped the first points, the game caught fire.

Both teams went back-and-forth, but with Cleveland holding a narrow lead, they did not want to let go of it. Seven minutes into the game and the Cavaliers got their first double-digit lead with 10 point differential.

Orlando somehow got it back to single, thanks to the help of Nelson, Bass and Arenas, but it was no use, as DeMar DeRozan started to control the court again. With Nelson hitting a late three, the half finished 59-50.

Cavaliers top scorer : D.DeRozan 14 PTS 3 AST
Magics top scorer : G.Arenas 14 PTS 2 AST 4 STL

Third Quarter

When it started, the Cavaliers got the game to double-digits and even built on it, as they got the game to 17. But with Orlando being down, somebody needed to step up.

It was Jameer Nelson, who started to kill it and was on fire. His help was the reason to get the game to single-digits, as nobody else helped him.

With Dwight Howard being in foul trouble, Cleveland took advantage of it and they got the game back. As everybody in the Cavaliers were killing it, five people had double-digits points for that time, as Blake lead the team. Baron and Parker were shooting 100% from the field.

As it ended 90-79, Orlando needed something big to turn it around.

Cavaliers top scorer : B.Griffin 19 PTS 7 REB 4 AST 1 STL
Magics top scorer : J.Nelson 27 PTS 1 REB 6 AST 3 STL

Forth Quarter

It started off again with the Cavaliers controlling it. As Nelson was subbed out, Cleveland had free will and nobody could stop the team.

But with both Howard and Nelson in, the team took their things together and started to come closer to Cleveland. It was about a six point game, when Orlando wanted even more. Cleveland however held them back, and never let them take the lead.

With 20 seconds on the clock, Arenas had a chance to make it a three point game, but even if he got blocked, Bass rebounded it, gave it back to him and as you know, Arenas does not miss twice. With Orlando fouling Baron, it was on him to make the game two-possession.

But unfortunately, he missed the free throws. Then, it was 4 seconds on the clock. The ball went to Hedo, who went for the three. But out of nowhere, Donte Greene came and blocked it.

As Orlando sent Baron again on the line, he hit the shots this time, and made the game 113-108.

Press Conference :

"Blake, again you lead the team and again you win. What is it that you can play solid with tougher teams, but crumble against weaker ones?"
"Well, I dont know. We just know when to take our act together and get the important wins. That might be a plus when we go to the playoffs."

"Jameer, another big game and another loss. How do you feel?"
"To be honest, I am sick and tired of this team. Some of you might already know, but I have been traded, as this is my last game here. Better off out this team."

Conclusion :
As Cleveland needs every win to get the first spot and Orlando needs every win to secure the eight spot, this game might have been a preview of the 1-8 seed matchup in the finals.

Trade, Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

Postby Cruzerr on Thu Jun 02, 2011 10:59 pm

Magic acquire Ariza, send Nelson to the Hornets

Image

With having some serious game and not getting any wins, Jameer Nelson stated last loss against the Cavaliers, that he wants out of the team. That he got, as Small Forward Trevor Ariza is going to take his spot. Orlando fans are happy to see a experienced player in their starting lineup, comparing him to Hedo, who has been dreadful this season. Ariza himself replied :"I dont think this is a bad team. We just need to work harder and get the wins."

However, when you look at this the other way, getting Nelson is kinda pointless for the Hornets, as their superstar Chris Paul is holding the Point Guard spot. That being said, it makes us wonder if the Hornets use Nelson in the Shooting Guard spot, as they lack players in there. CP3 however replied that he is happy with the outlook of this team. "Ariza was not a bad player, I think getting Nelson will only make us better."

As the Hornets are fighting to still be in the upper seed part of the West, Orlando needs to take their stuff together and get the lower seed.

Q-Rich takes Nelsons spot in the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

Image

Here is when the things get interesting. As Nelson leaves the team, the chance to be in the dunk contest goes to Q-Rich. The 3PT Shooting champion feels even better now, as he has a chance for the dunking. "It feels awesome! I was first thinking I will be in the 3PT shootout, but seems not."

However, when Ariza wins the competition, the rights of his participation still belong to him, that meaning, that Orlando might have 2 dunkers on their way. However, it is highly unlikely, as Rudy Gay needs one more vote, to get to the finals.

Stay tuned for more updates
