Reminder, that is NBA 2K11 footage.

Although it is 2k11 footage, it was still a very nicely put together video. Really like the spot. Looking pretty forward to seeing what we get at E3.

Could also be seen as them calling themselves "the greatest" coming back with a vengeance.

That's how I interpreted it as well. They might still have MJ/classic teams in the game but I'd say they are referring to the game itself with that tag line. I guess we'll find out in the next few weeks, though.

I'm guessing it was a reference to MJ. I haven't been sold on their recent games, as the main core gameplay has not changed much since 2k7.

I suppose it could be. It would make sense as a contingency plan if there is a lockout and they have to ship the game with final 2010/2011 season rosters, though it's an appealing feature whether there's a lockout or not. It wouldn't surprise me if they are just referring to the game itself though.

Maybe more challenges like the shot and etc.

It really depends on what "greatest" is referring to. If they're referring to the game itself, they're basically saying this year's installment will be better than ever. If they're referring to historical content, they're likely alluding to having even more historical content this year with all kinds of classic match-ups to re-live and the ability to take historical teams and square off against current players, as in NBA 2K11.

Derrick Rose
Dwyane Wade
Dirk Nowitzki
Kevin Durant
Dwight Howard

I'm leaning more towards Durant for some reason.

I'd say LeBron but he's the most disliked player in the NBA right now and I think 2K is aware of that.

On the other hand, his jersey was the top seller in the league this season, so he still moves merchandise.

I'm trying to find any links between those players that they choose for the video, I think that may have something to do with the cover, but idk...

2K = probably the greatest since there will be no Live-series this year.
But they will be back with a vengeance, saying they won't rest on their laurels with no real competition from EAsports this year.

But for the cover ... I would be surprised if they hadn't signed a multi-year deal with MJ's manager.

I'm waiting for the first insults on 2ksports if they'd do so. Could be tricky if you go out to buy the game when you are drunken and pick 2k11 again instead of 2k12.

To be honest... I don't know them too...
But I was kinda surprised about how often AI was on the cover.

PS: Last time I bought a basketball video game I was totally sober.
