The portraits are pictures. Don't know why he post that pack in this topic.

I'm uploading the version with some fixed players.

I have a question, why don't you use the portrait id that 2k has assigned them? Wouldn't that be completely compatible with the official roster?
For example, Mustafa Shakur has a PortrID of 1908 according to 2k, but you assigned him with 1669, why not use the same id as 2k?

because you cant assign portraits to player without them having a pre exostong portrait, so patchers often use celebrities of hidden players for portrait patches.

But somewhere in the files there has to be a reference to the portrait id.
I did some research and found this. Shakurs portrait is texture #694, address 87 C0 2C 9F (mod tool writes it backwards in pairs).
I assume potraits.cdf is the texture file and potraits.iff is the list file, so searching for that hex in the iff comes out with a single result.
Following the address comes a repetitive patter throughout the whole file which is 69 90 36 5C 02 00 00 00 so you can discard that as interesting.
Only this remains B0 7A 02 00 30 F1 86 03 until the next portrait starts.
I'm no expert in hex editing, but that somehow has to translate to 1669 that its the portrait id in the roster.

Thanks solovoy! Stupid question, but does the 2nd file 'Players with Portraits Fixed' also include the missing portraits from the first file? It's a little confusing cause both downloads are the portrait .iff & .cdf files.

Re: [Preview] Missing Portraits

Is not easy. You have to search manually PortrIDs that have a linked Portrait and doesn't assigned to any player in the Rosters. Then you have to search manually that Portrait, and then insert a DDS with ModTool.

ok, thanks for the answer

I search and I couln't find any connection between the texture number and the PortrID. The only way that I found to add new portraits is using unassigned Portraits ID.

Yes, the second file also include missing players. The first is for those who prefer the original portraits.

I've found a way. It's complicated but I've successfully changed portraits id without touching the roster. Will elaborate later when I can get things clearer.
I need help locating the edited files from this one and from Mr X's one, that is the major delay.

Ok, lets get this going.
First of all, I've used Mr X and subsequently solovoy's file for extracting what I needed. I suggest restoring the portrait.cdf/iff and portrait_hi.cdf/iff back to the originals. I've already exported the dds for missing portraits, plus 4 additional portraits for players yet missing from the official rosters. The rest of the modified portraits it was too much work, ask Mr X or solovoy for the dds.
The first thing to do is to open portrait and portrait_hi with the mod tool to decompress them. Then install the tool called "Total installer thingy for MLB 2K10" that a guy by the name of krawhitham created for MLB but it works with NBA with a minor thing to do. That minor thing is that MLB has no portrait_hi file, so the tool installs the dds only to portrait.cdf. We can fool that by taking portrait_hi and removing _hi.
Now it comes to you to decide which file to use, portrait_hi or portrait. If you're playing with high or medium settings you are using _hi, the other is not needed. If not, disregard the following. Delete portrait.cdf and rename portrait_hi.cdf to portrait.cdf and delete portrait_hi.iff.
Now launch TiT 2010 and select the NBA 2K11 installation folder. Now select the file portraits.7z and press "Start" and wait for the process to finish. Once finished go to your NBA 2K11 installation folder and you'll see a folder called portraits which is a left over of the process and is safe to delete, also you'll find some .bak in the portrait files that are safe to delete.
Now if you went for the _hi take portrait.iff duplicate it and rename it to portrait_hi.iff and that's it. If you went regular, then that's it, enjoy.

Download the pack here, it contains the tool, and the portraits plus the additional ones.

Could the official roster collaborate with your portraits?

Re: [Released] Missing Portraits and Fixed Players

Using my method the portraits are compatible with the official rosters, don't download from the first post though, as I said, I recommend using the original portrait files.

What do you mean? Original?

Re: [Released] Missing Portraits and Fixed Players

Meaning the files that come as a result of the game being installed, not the files that any mod you could have downloaded afterwards. If you haven't downloaded any portrait mod yet, you already have the original files.
Just get the disc in and open the .cab files with winrar or other, portrait.cdf and portrait.iff are in nba2k11_13.cab, portrait_hi.cdf and portrait_hi.iff are in nba2k11_14.cab. Extract them to the installation folder.

umm idk if someone already asked this but is this compatible with juza and kovas latest roster? thnx

Re: [Released] Missing Portraits and Fixed Players

Fri Apr 08, 2011 2:47 pm

No and yes, you just need to rename the dds to match the portrait id in the wanted roster.
Example: Asik, in 2k his portrait id is 1895, so my dds is named 1895.dds, juza and kova have his id at 1678, so renaming 1895.dds to 1678.dds in the 7z file to make it work.
To make it work with official and juza or kova roster you'll need to duplicate 1895.dds and rename the duplicate to 1678.dds and insert it into the 7z file. To do so use the portrait builder tool that comes with TiT.
