Like Father Like Son

The Idea - Like Father Like Son
Patrick Ewing and Bill Walton are both very known former NBA players. Both played at the center position and both were inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame. Both Ewing and Walton towered over the NBA in their time with Ewing being seven foot and Walton being six feet eleven inches. They both raised two boys into men. Both of their sons didn't get the fortune of being as tall as their dads. Ewing and Walton's kids are both six feet eight inches and both play at the small forward position.

Luke Walton has been in the league longer than Patrick Ewing Jr. Luke Walton has two championship rings, but has failed to be a big name in the league. Luke was the very last pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and is currently burried on the Lakers bench. Luke is thirty years old and currently holds a 66 point overall rating. Patrick Ewing Jr. was drafted by the Sacramento Kings with the 43rd overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. Patrick Ewing Jr has been shuffled around and ended up with the Knicks like his father. Ewing Jr. has been a staple in the NBADL though and is still trying to find his way into the NBA scene. Ewing Jr. is twenty-six years old and urrently holds a 56 point overall rating.

Now this is where things get a little more interesting. The NBA season is about to begin, but it's time to boost one last group of players. These players are Luke Walton and Patrick Ewing Jr. I hope that these two can someday live up to the hype that their fathers had back in their careers. Both players are going to be given a boost all the way up to a 75 point overall rating. They can thank their father's success for these ratings. From here on, it will be potential that will boost these men any more. This will be the last installment of players getting boosts. It's time to get buckled up for the 2010-2011 NBA Season

I'm getting ready to start the season up, but before I do I am giving the NLCSers a chance to get in the next draft. Put in your applications now! I'll decided how many of you will be in the next draft. Just basic stuff everyone always wants, Name, Age (19-42), College/Country, Height, Weight, Position, skin tone, specifics for hair and facial hair, 5 strengths, 5 weaknesses, give me a description of your playing style, and some background info so I can write up some stuff on your player. Also give me specifics if you want to on what type of gear you want to wear, shot types, dunk packages, anything you can think of. Yes Sit, I stole these details from you. PM with your application!

EDIT: Also give me your jersey numbers.

I love the Laker hate... LOVE IT. I think I should have the Lakers' plane crash on their way to an away game.

Looking forward to what he can do, he is currently a free agent so we will see who picks him up.

What do you guys think about the 'Player Roles' part of NBA 2K11s Association. With the being My NBA and I'm in control of all the teams and their fates I'm trying to decided if I should have this feature turned on or off. Should I control how these players feel or let the Player Roles effect all that?

Power Rankings and Week 1 Preview

Wed Jan 12, 2011 5:16 pm

Image Written By NBA Staff Writer Casey Lee

Pre Season Power Rankings
Image 1) Los Angeles Lakers - They are the defending champions, some one has to knock them off the top
Image 2) Boston Celtics - The addition of the O'neals is going to have a bigger impact than people think
Image 3) Miami Heat - Three of last year's Eastern Conference All Star Team starters now start for Miami
Image 4) Oklahoma City Thunder - This team is young and only getting better
Image 5) Orlando Magic - Off season deals shake up the roster, I expect a big comeback from Gilbert Arenas
Image 6) San Antonio Spurs - It's now or never, Duncan is getting close to retirement
Image 7) Chicago Bulls - There is finally some excitement in Chicago about basketball
Image 8) Dallas Mavericks - A full season with Butler, Chandler, and Marion makes this team scary
Image 9) Denver Nuggets - They stay up here if they can keep Carmelo Anthony
Image 10) Utah Jazz - They are always up here, but need that extra something to get them deep into the playoffs
Image 11) New York Knicks - It's time for Amar'e Stoudemire to be the man
Image 12) Atlanta Hawks - With the addition of Ewing Jr. I think this team has a legitimate starting five
Image 13) New Orleans Hornets - They made Chris Paul happy this off-season, now it's time for him to make the fans happy
Image 14) Houston Rockets - They are begging you to stay healthy Yao
Image 15) Portland Trailblazers - If this team can stay healthy than they could be the next big time team
Image 16) Charlotte Bobcats - People are buzzing about the improvement of Shaun Livingston and Kwame Brown
Image 17) Milwaukee Bucks - This team looks to be the next team to enter the top tier of the Eastern Conference Elite
Image 18) Phoenix Suns - Can Vince Carter really make that much of a difference
Image 19) Golden State Warriors - No Golden State fans, David Lee is not the answer to getting your team in the playoffs
Image 20) Philidelphia 76ers - This team has a shot of making the playoffs, only because they are in the Eastern Conference
Image 21) Memphis Grizzlies - It's very unlikely they repeat their surprise year from last year
Image 22) Los Angeles Clippers - A full season with Blake Griffin could be just what this organization needs to get the fans excited
Image 23) Washington Wizards - They have rid themselves of Gilbert Arenas, now it time for John Wall to take over
Image 24) Detroit Pistons - People are saying Tracy McGrady is officially back
Image 25) Indiana Pacers - At least they got Danny Granger
Image 26) New Jersey Nets - Getting rid of Terrence Williams was a mistake, they better be able to get Carmelo Anthony
Image 27) Sacramento Kings - Tyreke Evans and Demarcus Cousin are a good start to a successful future, but nothing is happening this year
Image 28) Cleveland Cavaliers - LeBron James left for Miami... Now What
Image 29) Minnesota Timberwolves - They got rid of the one dominant player they had
Image 30) Toronto Raptors - This team literally has no one

At the Last Second
These next four moves were made just before the start of the season.

The Atlanta Hawks released C Jason Collins in order to make room for SF Patrick Ewing Jr. The Hawks have signed Ewing Jr. for $8.05 million for four years, giving him a total salary of $32.2 million. Patrick Ewing Jr. has been a staple in the NBA-DL, but this raises a lot of eyebrows because Ewing Jr. has done nothing in the NBA. Maybe the Hawks see something we don't, but I don't understand how a player could improve this month in one off-season. Atlanta has already said that Ewing Jr. will be starting at the Small Forward position for them this season.

The Charlotte Bobcats released SF Dominic McGuire so that they could sign SF Adam Morrison. Morrison agreed to sign for the NBA's mid-level exception salary. He will be making $5.45 million in one year with the Bobcats. It is believed that Morrison's game improved a lot under Phil Jackson and he will get his chance to prove himself in Charlotte. Morrison only wanted to sign a one year deal so that he could show he can still play. Charlotte announced that Morrison will be coming off the bench in the sixth man role.

The Washington Wizards have signed SG Gerald Green for two years at a total salary of $14.10 million. Green is a walking highlight reel, but is his play really worth $7.05 million a season? The Wizards were hurting at the Shooting Guard position and had money to spend, but I think they dug a little deep with Green. This will be the first starting job Green has had and we will see how long he can manage to keep it.

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a three man trade just one day before the season started. The Lakers received C Samuel Dalembert and SF Donte Green in exchange for SF Luke Walton. Walton had previously requested a trade from the Lakers this past off-season saying, "I am grateful for everything the Laker's organization has done for me, but I am ready to get some playing time. I have the rings already, I just want to be the starter on an NBA team." This statement came just a week after the Lakers signed SF Matt Barnes basically knocking Walton out of any minutes. Walton is expected to start for the Kings whereas Dalembert and Green are expected to be burried at the bottom of the Lakers bench.

Rumors Around the League
Everyone knows Carmelo Anthony wants out of Denver. The two teams with the biggest shot at getting Anthony are the New Jersey Nets and the New York Knicks. Anthony has a player option after this year and it is obvious he will not be returning to Denver. It would be a smart move for Denver to try and get some picks or players for Anthony now instead of losing him for nothing. The Nets aren't willing to give up to much for Anthony because it wouldn't be a sure thing that he would stay there. The Knicks don't want to give up to much either because it seems as though Anthony will come to New York after this season anyways. What makes this even worse for Denver is that some players have said that if Anthony leaves they want to be out too. Kenyon Martin was the most open with this action saying, "I'm too old to not be competing for a championship. If he goes it's going to be hard for us to compete with teams like the Lakers and Spurs who have that go to guy. I'd rather test my luck somewhere else." The Anthony saga should be an entertaining one this season.

There are rumors coming out of Boston claiming that Kendrick Perkins has requested a trade. The Celtics added both Shaquille O'neal and Jermaine O'neal this last off-season. This move makes Perkins feel like he isn't an essential part of the team and will obviously take a big minute hit with both the O'neals on the team. The Celtics refused to comment on the situation and claim that everything is fine in Boston. Other executive around the league are saying that Boston is trying to shop Perkins out before there becomes tension in the locker room.

Ben Gordon wants to finally be a full time starter and not worry about anyone else. Rumors coming out of Detroit are saying Tracy McGrady is back at his best and will be starting for Detroit. Fan favorite and Detroit lifer Richard Hamilton has now become the sixth man making Gordon a simple role player. Gordon is very unhappy about this and forgot his professionalism at the door stating, "I'm sick of this. I thought I was being brought in to help build this team and be a star here. Send me somewhere else where a team is going to stick true to their word and I won't have to deal with this bull****." Well Mr. Gordon, maybe you should not have been such a bust.
