Sliders for Realistic Stats

Discussion about NBA Live 2004.

Two questions:
Which does the Double Team slider affect, the chance of taking the ball from the target, his shooting accuracy, or his passing?
If a player is fouled while shooting a jumpshot, is it Adjusted Shot that determines whether he makes the shot or Poor Release?

It determines the likelihood that the double team will cause the offensive player to lose the ball (and turn it over if he or one of his teammates isn't quick enough to recover).

I'm not sure which slider the game uses to determine the likelihood of players making a shot when they're fouled. I'm leaning towards the Adjusted Shot slider though.

Thanks, I think I'll lower the Double Team levels in my games.

I don't know how helpful this would be for realistic sliders - I know of a site that tallies statistics not officially covered by the NBA. An analysis of the data revealed some things about the various kinds of field goals that were attempted in the league in the current 2003-2004 season:

Mid-range to long-range jumpshots
- made up 67% of all attempted field goals
- had an accuracy of 36.7%
- 66% were assisted
- 4% were blocked

Close-range, non-dunk shots
- made up 26% of attempted field goals
- had an accuracy of 53.5%
- 53% were assisted
- 14% were blocked

Dunk attempts
- were 4% of attempted field goals
- had an accuracy of 90.8%
- 75% were assisted
- 3% were blocked

Tip-ins
- made up the other 2%
- had an accuracy of 49.6%
- 0% of them were assisted or blocked

Thanks for the info. (Y) When I get a little more time, I'll see if I can put it to good use with some new slider tweaks.

If you do the block slider to 2 or 3 it is the most realistic, otherwise there are too many blocks!

isn't there a set of plays called utah? I use those for the jazz and it works like a charm

and some of the rest in the list are wrong, but whatever...

If I change de Offensive PB. of the against I play and set the correct for each team, that makes the game become more realistic in stats??

Or it´s only to set the real offense??

I try play with all sliders, and is real hard to get a realistic turnovers/ game, with steals and fouls/game...........

Anybody has the solution for my problem???

somebody mentioned putting user rebounding sliders at 0 and comp's at 100

which I've had for awhile...I still kill the cpu on the boards

once you put offensive rebounding on 85 and up, the cpu will crash those with a lot more effort, you'll even get dunked on, on a put back from time to time....I like that

but if you hit the oboards relentlessly like I do...the cpu has no chance, when they box out they're very effective, but if you're already under the hoop when the shot goes up...you're getting that board 95% of the time if you time it right....regardless of who's under the hoop

this game basically comes down to me having to play down to the cpu for me to have competitive games...if I play like I would vs an equal opponent, the cpu has no shot whatsoever at doing anything to me

besides hitting retarded 3 pointers with a defender in their face of course...

Set all of your players to 'Low' defensive pressure

Effect: MID-RANGE GAME!!! Actual catch and shoot and all of the great things that make having the offensive plays in the rosters worthwhile!

Hi Millenium.

You mean all the players of YOUR team or the players of BOTH.

Thanks a lot, even for your sliders

I thought of that once...high pressure sure seems to mess things up cause they don't pass the ball to each other due to the "lack of openings"

I usually just back away from the player I'm guarding...but this may work

I'll try it

Does somebody have sliders for an uptempo, fast pace game. I run and gun and easily score over 100 in 9 minute quarters.

Realistic Sliders

Postby Sovartus on Sun Mar 21, 2004 3:13 pm

Well After months of research these are the sliders that I came up with.

Global Sliders:

Game Speed: 50
Free Throw Difficulty: 60
Boundary Force Field: 60
Injury Freq: 50
Fatigue Effect: 50
Charge/Block Freq: 25
Shooting Foul Freq: 35
Reach-In Foul Freq: 35
In-Air Collision Foul Freq: 70

User:

Steal Ability: 40
Interception Ability: 50
Shot Blocking: 10
Dunk/Layup Blocking: 20
User Freestyle: 50
Dunk vs Layup Freq: 10
Substitution: 0 for no auto subs, 50 for auto subs
On-Ball Assist:50
Offensive Rebounds: 100
Defensive Rebounds: 40
Fake Out Discipline: 100
Short Range %: 30
Medium Range %: 45
Long Range %: 40
Dunk %: 50
Layup %: 45
Adjusted Shot %: 30
On-Ball Physical Defense: 65
Poor Release %: 33
Double Team: 50

CPU:

Steal Ability: 40
Interception Ability: 50
Shot Blocking: 10
Dunk/Layup Blocking: 20
CPU Freestyle: 50
Dunk vs Layup Freq: 10
Substitution: 50
Offensive Rebounds: 100
Defensive Rebounds: 40
Fake Out Discipline: 90
Short Range %: 30
Medium Range %: 45
Long Range %: 40
Dunk %: 50
Layup %: 45
Adjusted Shot %: 30
Adjusted Shot Freq: 40
On-Ball Physical Defense: 50
Poor Release %: 33
Double Team: 50

Passing out of the double teams quickly is important to avoid those annoying turn overs. It's this way to simulate the way people double team people like Shaq and it makes Zones much more effective. So I have found that leaving it at 50 is where it should stay.

Some stats using these sliders with 12 minute quarters on superstar or all star are as follows.

Entire Game Miami(cpu) Toronto(me)

Points 109 114
Bench Scoring 31 15
Field Goals 46/106 45/101
Field Goal % .434 .446
3 Point FG 9/40 3/11
3 Point % .225 .273
Free Throws 8/11 21/24
Free Throw % .727 .875
Rebounds 54 61
Off. Rebounds 6 11
Def. Rebounds 48 50
Blocks 3 5
Steals 11 12
Assists 17 18
Turnovers 23 21
Fouls 20 7

Entire Game Orlando(me) Detroit(cpu)

Points 97 78
Bench Scoring 50 13
Field Goals 43/84 31/74
Field Goal % .512 .419
3 Point FG 2/17 9/24
3 Point % .118 .375
Free Throws 9/13 7/8
Free Throw % .692 .875
Rebounds 47 32
Off. Rebounds 16 5
Def. Rebounds 31 27
Blocks 6 3
Steals 3 7
Assists 17 15
Turnovers 10 18
Fouls 5 9

Entire Game Portland(cpu) Memphis(me)

Points 102 112
Bench Scoring 21 27
Field Goals 44/103 45/93
Field Goal % .427 .484
3 Point FG 7/27 3/16
3 Point % .259 .188
Free Throws 7/10 19/22
Free Throw % .700 .864
Rebounds 38 61
Off. Rebounds 4 14
Def. Rebounds 34 47
Blocks 6 7
Steals 10 6
Assists 26 22
Turnovers 12 17
Fouls 13 10

Entire Game Detroit(cpu) Atlanta(me)

Points 84 82
Bench Scoring 15 14
Field Goals 35/89 39/79
Field Goal % .393 .494
3 Point FG 10/38 1/14
3 Point % .263 .071
Free Throws 4/6 3/4
Free Throw % .667 .750
Rebounds 39 51
Off. Rebounds 4 4
Def. Rebounds 35 47
Blocks 12 4
Steals 6 4
Assists 19 14
Turnovers 10 12
Fouls 5 7

The Fouls are a little low but I don't foul that often anyway. Three point attempts are high but with my style of play I dare bad shooters to fire it from beyond the arch.

Use them and let me know what you think about them please.

I play with andrews sliders and there good for my type of play but with the fakeout i can go to lay up or dunk each time.
I think the game speed is a bit high too.
What do u guys think and can someone suggest any tweaks?

Raise CPU Fake awareness to 100% or stop pump faking.

Andrew, what is the slider settings that you currently play with after all the changes metioned before? I haven't updated it for a while and would like to know the latest to compare with. Thanks.

I'm inclined to think that Dunk accuracy should be 45 at the most while Layups should have a max of 40.

I was wondering, what about sliders given on this site under Realistic sliders. Has anybody tried them, and how are they. and also, what is cpu fake awareness.

so many options here i don't know what to choose. The type of game i love playing is defensive. FG% 90% of the time between 35-45, absolutely no more than 20 fast break points, not many 3's ~15.....just some damn realism for 12 min q's

Reduce the game speed to about 40. You may also want to reduce the long range and short range field goal sliders. Although I get realistic results with my sliders and others do too, they don't work perfectly for everyone. If they're not working for you, I suggest using them as a base then making your own tweaks to suit your style of play.

Hope this helps. :)
