D'Anfoni said defense would be a priority this season - HA!!!!

Is Isiah delusional or what?

But the sad thing is, Isiah will be running the Knicks again once Walsh leaves. For two years, Walsh wanted to bring in Chris Mullin, but Dolan said no. Why do you think that is?

Enjoy it while you can, Knicks fans. All of Walsh's work will be undone once Zeke comes back. F*** Dolan.

Isiah believes James (and perhaps Dwyane Wade) would be starting for the New York Knicks if Isiah had remained president of the team.

Isiah believes he can recruit James out of Miami and into Madison Square Garden in 2014.

Isiah believes that, with or without James, he will someday help the Knicks win their first NBA title since 1973.

Yeah, I'm going to say delusional too.

When I look at my GM/executive record, if I'm evaluated on that, then whoever's after Donnie, if you're not talking about some of the top people in the game, I'll put my draft evaluation record up against anyone's.

His signing/having players to a bloated contract record is good too.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

To his credit, he can boast that two years running he avoided making huge blunders in the lottery whereas other GMs did. Of course, that was because he traded those lottery picks to Chicago for Eddy Curry.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Sat Nov 06, 2010 11:54 am

I wouldn't be surprised if he used that reasoning to show how good he is.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

On a positive note, I just realized the Knicks were leading the league in shot-blocking this year.. They have been one of the worst teams in that category over the last 5 or so years. With bigs like Eddy Curry, David Lee, Zach Randolph, Channing Frye, and Jerome James during that stretch, who would expect the team to even block a shot?

Asked if he hopes to replace Donnie Walsh whenever the 69-year-old Knicks president retires, Thomas said, "Every single day of the week.

Why won't he just go away?

Edit: Just realized the same story was already posted lol my bad

Because our dumbass owner still thinks Isiah's a genius.

Bad loss yesterday. Too many damn outside shots, bad execution on offense, and defensive breakdowns. Typical Knicks. Toney Douglas not fighting through that screen and giving up the three was a killer.

Some people are just oblivious to the damage they cause and how they are perceived. Couple that with a sense of entitlement and you've got someone who just doesn't know when to move on. I'd say that goes for Dolan as well as Thomas.

EDIT: On the brighter side: NBA closing doors on Thomas’ iffy return

As the clock ticked down in the New York Knicks’ draft room in late June 2005, Isiah Thomas wanted to choose Pittsburgh’s Chris Taft over Florida’s David Lee. Sources say that all around Thomas front-office elders and scouts begged him to change his mind. No one believed Lee would become an All-Star, an $80 million man, but they knew this: Taft was terrible.

Only one of Thomas’ oldest confidants, Brendan Suhr, had a voice strong enough to sway him. Before the Knicks president finally backed down and submitted Lee’s name to be picked with the 30th selection, Thomas snapped, “You’d better be [bleeping] right.”

So much for his excellent drafting skills.

Thomas isn’t delusional, but desperate. He’s speaking to a one-man audience – Knicks owner Jim Dolan.

Only now, it appears Thomas is losing Dolan, too. Dolan has come to understand the severity of the NBA’s investigation into the Knicks after Yahoo! Sports reported apparent illegal draft workouts under Thomas’ regime, sources say. And Dolan’s been livid over it.

Beyond monetary fines and forfeiture of future draft picks for Donnie Walsh’s regime, league sources say any uncovering of Thomas’ possible complicity in potential violations could result in a suspension to be tacked onto his future return to the NBA.

I look forward to the day when Mike D'Anfoni is no longer coaching the Knicks. I've been saying it for years - this dude is a fraud of a coach with his 'sissyball' style. You live by the 3-point shot, you die by it. D'Antoni draws up a 3-point play for Amar'e? What a joke.

The fine line between innovative and ill-advised.

I look forward to the day that the Knicks are an 8 seed and beat the Heat

Re: The Knicks Thread....

I wonder if the Knicks save time and money by not having any defensive coordinators or not having to go through the trouble of watching opponent game videos to have and practice team specific defensive sets.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Sat Nov 13, 2010 4:25 pm

I'm pretty sure they don't practice any sets, offensive or defensive. All that money they save helps fund the Mike D'Antoni show.

Kevin Love had more offensive rebounds (12) than the Knicks (11). That is all I have to say about tonights game. :x

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Sun Nov 14, 2010 1:31 am

Only the Knicks could make Kevin Love look like Moses Malone. This team is so far removed from playing Knick basketball it's sickening.

If D'antoni gets fired, who'd you like to see coach the team? You think Herb Williams is ready to take over the team?

Somebody, anybody who'll teach these losers the meaning of defense. Knicks should have hired Avery. At least his team's playing with heart.

Knicks were unwatchable under Isiah, and they're the same under D'Amphony.

Amar'e putting his team on blast;

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Tue Nov 16, 2010 10:09 am

Amar'e has to share in the responsibility for the 3-7 start but someone on the team needs to stand up and say this isn't good enough. Whether or not he truly is a franchise player, he's certainly getting paid like one so hats off to him for wanting to take on that role and giving a damn instead of just collecting a paycheques.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

I can't remember the last player on the Knicks to call out a team like that. I wonder how they'll respond to it.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Amar'e for three! Last night he dropped a three against Nuggets, but not enough.

For once, Starbury is right;

He doesn’t teach defense,'' Marbury said. "He teaches offense. (Jeff) Van Gundy teaches defense. (The D'Antoni system) doesn't work in New York. Not in the East. You have to have a team that dives for balls and takes the 3 when nobody expects you to take the 3. You have to be inside the fans' minds and that's what they want. There's knowledgeable people in the arena. They're talking to you while you're shooting a jump shot.'' New York Post

Actually, Marbury sounded just like any other bitter Knicks fan disgusted by the team's 3-7 start and five-game losing streak. Marbury claims to be just that – a diehard Knicks fan — though he has fallen out of favor with most supporters. "It's just a matter of time,'' Marbury said. "That's all I got to stay about D'Antoni's situation. I don't pay attention to his coaching. It hasn't changed since he won 50 games or since all the how many games he's lost here. If he had different pieces, he's a very effective coach. But without any players that play with the realm of how he coaches the game, it will never be. "It's a matter of time,'' Marbury added. "It's a countdown now. He put a countdown on his head. Now (the fans) know we're never going to win a championship like this.'' New York Post

Tina Cervasio (sideline reporter) asked Phil Weber (asst coach) at halftime if it was "time to tell the guys to stop shooting threes and start going to the rim" and he replied to the effect of, "Well we're getting wide open threes and that's exactly what we want, we know our guys can hit them."

http://www.theknicksblog.com/2010/11/16 ... nicks-118/

Walsh needs to wake up and smell the damn coffee. Get D'Amphony's ass out of here.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Thu Nov 18, 2010 1:17 am

That's all right. The system of D'Antoni is the system that I love a lot was worked well at Phoenix. But if you look at New York, D'Antoni is still working with Amar'e - the C of this run and gun style - which is OK with this method of game. Otherwise: Nothing. Randolph and Felton were played at defensive teams as other guys are playing defense. New York is unable to do the playoffs again, if they go with this defensive roster. WALSH SUCK.
