I just got this text message:
CONGRATS YOUR MOBILE NUMBER HAS BEEN SELECTED FOR PRIZE OF 750,000 POUNDS FROM GUINNESS MOBILE AWARD 2010,FOR DETAILS CONTACT MR.JOHN ON EMAIL:
guinness21@live.comThe fact that there are words missing, at one point they use a comma instead of a period and "MR.JOHN"'s email address was obviously the 21st registered as "guinness" tells me this is all legit. I'm rich guys!!!!

Isn't it wonderful how numbers and email addresses are randomly selected for huge prizes, especially for contests you didn't even enter? What an age we live in.

My favorite teacher got riffed because he had only been in this school district for 4 years. He was easily the best teacher I'd ever had. However, my "new" Language Arts teacher is an older woman with severe ADD who couldn't be less competent. Eight days into the school year, and three of her classes have just been us playing Scrabble because she lost and/or forget to make a curriculum for the day.
Not complaining about the class being easy, but its unfortunate that a great teacher now has to teach middle school, while an incompetent (and seemingly borderline retarded) teacher gets to stay.
School has been very easy this year, but I haven't even gotten the illusion of having learned anything.

Have this printer, hadn't printed about 4 months or so. Went to print and it said that the black and cyan ink cartridges are empty. (4 individual all together) The printer was 300 EEK (~ 25 USD) and two ink cartridges are also 300 EEK (2 together). Installed them, but it said 'these are not compatible with this printer'. For god sake, it says on my printer which one's I need, like the ink number or smtg. Installed them both anyway, and now it says that my red one is out. I'm pretty sure if I buy the red one, I have to buy the yellow one too, all together twice the value of the printer. Plus I have mostly printed only documents, probably just like 1-2 pictures. With school starting, I need to print a lot. Screw Epson.

Why didn't you just buy another printer instead?
Tue Sep 21, 2010 3:49 pm
That's the way I'm leaning towards right now. But with my budget right now, it will be tough.
Tue Sep 21, 2010 4:02 pm
If the printer is cheaper than buying all the ink refills?
Tue Sep 21, 2010 10:44 pm
If that printer was still on sale, I'd buy that just for the ink. But I think I can find a good for for less then 600 EEK (~50 USD).

But it's Dare.

I find printers usually cheaper than the cartridges. I can buy one at around $20 for a decent printer while cartridges go for $35 - 50 easily. But environmental tax fee applies if you get a printer I guess at least in Canada. Still cheaper though.
Corporations keep coming out with new printers to sell and don't wanna do anything on refilling/cheaper-cartridges. Environmentally baad... but good for those companies I guess.

Congratulations dare. Welcome to the club.

Sometimes staff members in schools don't do their jobs properly. I am a "victim" of such nowadays. It's been six months since I left the school and I got most of my students' grades done.
In my case: it's a matter of having the grades input into a computerized grading system; all those who enrolled late would have their grades written on record manually -- literally writing the numbers on record. Some have incomplete grades as their requirements like projects, paperworks, unpaid tuition fees and such are not yet submitted yet some of them were able to attend during the graduation ceremonies. Then they would ask me why their grades are incomplete.

Some grades were also fixed months ago yet the people on the registrar nor in the faculty doesn't seem to have copies of it even though I've finished everything and submitted it to them before I left.

Same thing happened to me last year. They took months to work out that they should be paying me. Then I turned 18, at which point I should have earned more, but they took a month to realise that, too.
