Missing dunks wtf?

Mon Dec 16, 2002 8:44 am

I got a question about dunking, its normally ok in the first quarter but in the second and onwards if i get a steal and run the transition game up court i go in for the dunk with vince carter and he misses????!!!!! excuse me but vince never misses a dunk especially when there's not a soul on defense!! its not fatigue i've narrowed it down that far, I just can't see why i miss the dunk.

Any hints and tips on this or anything else plz tell me

vince cant even miss a dunk if theres all 5 defenders on him! happened to me to, his dunking and jumping skills are maxed out aswell.

I know what you mean. It happens to me often. Are you playing in superstar level? I think it's just harder to score in superstar. It just gets annoying when you miss easy baskets with no defenders in your vicinity.

Or VINCEsinity...
i think its to do with the momentum thing, coz i can go on a 15-0 run in the 1st and then go cold as in the 2ndand miss dunks on the break. THe game is just like that, u have a run, cpu has a run, u have a run and the ai makes it so that u miss easy shots when its the other teams turn to run

What MaD_hAND1e said is right, and has been happaning for the last like 5 years in the series, its always done that... Do you have CPU assist on? because CPU assist makes the computer hit shots everyone and makes you miss (even layout, drunks with no defenders) until they catch up.. with it off you can kick there ass like you should if they are a shit team.

Been EA's same formula as long as Live 97 that I can remember :)

well..same thing here..just worse  :D ...believe it or not...i missed 5 dunks in a row with SHAQ?!?!!!!! it looked like this:
i pass the ball to Shaq...and try to dunk it..i miss...but i got the rebound...so i try again..and i miss again..and again i got the board..so i try again :!: but nothing...then the CPU rebounds and losses the ball...and guess to who i pass the ball again..(to shaq  ) and i go for a dunk..i miss...and again i rebound the ball..and try again...i miss  ... and then i stopped passing the ball to shaq at that time until the beggining of a next quarter

nice to see i'm not the only one having this trouble, i've not had this game long and i play on keyboard (getting a wingman pad soon) so i started a franchise on rookie setting. I've now moved up to starter and i noticed that i miss less dunks on this setting because the score is tighter compared to rookie where i might be winning by 20 points. I reckon that if you are winning by 20 points or so the CPU thinks its funny to make you miss dunks, maybe i'll try with that CPU assist off cos i wasn't sure what it did so i turned it on :P .. thanx for all your replies.

Looks like you are pretty good at O Rebound, turn off your CPU assists.
By the way, it is OK to miss one or two dunks.

well if you have a good lead, lets say about 15 Pts, in the game, the computer starts cheating even if you turned CPU assists off, and you start missing layups and dunks...
