The Clippers played their last game of their first road trip today in San Antonio, Texas. This was the second meeting between the two teams in this early season. The Clippers defeated the Spurs a few weeks ago by 4 points in Los Angeles, this time the Spurs had two opportunities to win it but came up short.

The Spurs big three (Duncan, Ginobili, Parker) showed up tonight, but not at the same time. Ginobili was hot in the 1st, Duncan dominated in the 2nd, and Parker lead the way in the 3rd.

The Clippers offense had a lot of ball movement tonight, which lead to 41 assists, but all the passing did lead to 24 turnovers from tough defense by the Spurs. This was the main reason why the Clippers lost their lead and fell behind in the 3rd.

Thanks to Gordon, the Clippers came back in the fourth and took the lead on this three pointer with 3:22 remaining.
Image

Richard Jefferson would give the Spurs a 2 point lead with less that 40 seconds remaining, but Baron Davis would tie it up 5 seconds later. With about 35 seconds left the Clippers were tring to force the Spurs to miss and give them a good amount of time to win it a the buzzer. Ginobili attempted a 3 pointer, but missed. Duncan rebounded and kicked it back out to Ginobili for another attempt, but missed again. Duncan again got the rebound but no longer had anytime to get up a shot and the game goes into overtime.

In overtime, the Clippers finally have a dominating quarter as they made 5 three pointers out of their 5 total field goals made in the extra period.
Image

Eric Gordon started OT off with a 3 pointer. The Clippers would sail easily to go perfect on their road trip and get their 9th straight victory.

The Los Angeles Clippers and the Indiana Pacers are the only teams left undefeated in the NBA.

Clippers News

Postby KidJustin on Sun Sep 05, 2010 4:52 pm

Finally, Young introduced to the Clippers roster

Image
Nick Young is happy to finally wear his new Clippers jersey

Nick Young, after being with the team for a few week now, was formally introduced to the media. Since Craig Smith currently wears #1, Young will wear #0 as a member of the Clippers. This will be his first number change since playing college basketball at USC. Young is expected to play in the Clippers next home game against the Detroit Pistons.

When asked about his thoughts about the issue on the league investigation.

Young said:
It was a very unfortunate situation and something we have to put in the past now as I must help my team win games. The league made a big mistake.

I am telling you all now that the Clippers organization and Aaron Mintz were involved no wrong doing and their reputations should not be hurt because of a mistake by the league.

We just have to move on now and play the game.

Here is the official statement from the league:
Upon completing the investigation, there was not enough evidence to prove any tampering in the trade between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Washington Wizards on October 30. There will be no disciplinary actions taken and the suspensions on the players have been lifted. This is just a warning to all agents and teams that all actions will be monitored and no one should ever put themselves in a similar position of speculation.

There has been no word yet if the Clippers will file any course of action.

In other news, Rookie Willie Warren was placed on the inactive roster to make room for Nick Young. In Young and Butler's absence, Warren has really shown to be a great three point asset off the bench, which makes this a somewhat difficult roster change.

their starting 5 are all averaging double digits
Granger is almost a double-double with 22-8
Hibbert and Hansbrough seem to be an awesome front court each average 12 rebounds per game along with double digits in scoring

yea! i know!

the only reason why my team is killing it is because Eric Gordon (league's 2nd leading scorer behind LeBron James 40+ppg...who only played a few games because of injury but scored like 40+ each time..including his last game) and Blake Griffin (league's 4th leading scorer are having monster scoring games

pacers have team effort going on

Nick Young bought an entire section for his friends and family and he did not disappoint in his debut as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers; the Clippers gave him the nod to start over Ryan Gomes who had been struggling as of late.

ImageImage

Young hit back to back 3 pointers to start the quarter and his Clipper career. The energy was already intense after the first one, so right when Young hit the second in a row the crowd erupted!

The way the Clippers preformed in the first quarter, the game seemed like a blow out from the start, but Tayshuan Prince and Rip Hamilton got hot on offense to give the Pistons a fighting chance. The Clippers abused the Pistons in the first behind Young's 12 points and team defense that held them to only 20 points.

But a 12-4 run and then a 15-4 run later on by the Pistons put them ahead by as much as 10 points. Whenever the Clippers second unit was on the floor, Prince would score over them with ease. And whenever Prince was not on the floor, Hamilton was the one torching the Clippers.

Not until late in the 3rd and late in the 4th did veteran leadership by Baron Davis take over the game. He did not score much, but he came up with key steals as well gave the ball in position where Griffin had the best opportunities. The game was finally put away after Eric Gordon, all by himself, went on a 9-0 run to give the Clippers a 5 point lead with less that 2 minutes remaining.

Post game Quote:
A Detroit Pistons reporter had a small interview with the Clippers Chris Kaman, who is a native of Michigan.
Reporter: How would feel if you were traded to another team?
Kaman:
The city of Los Angeles is awesome, the Clippers are awesome, and these fans are awesome. But I know that this sport is also a business. As long as I can continue to have fun and play basketball, I'll be happy.

Reporter: Ever think of playing at home? In Michigan?
Kaman:
Haha, as a Piston? Playing back home would be fun, but I don't have a say in it. It's a business and am not a business man, I'm a basketball player. Talk to my agent.

Chris Kaman was born in Grand Rapids, Michcigan and played for Central Michigan University.

Press Conference: New Jerseys+New Players?
Image

As the media and season ticket holders began to file in as the Clippers were finishing up their last drills of the day and heading into the showers, GM Neil Olshey and Assist. GM KidJustin came out to address the crowd. Olshey welcomed the audience and talked about the success of the team thus far before handing the podium to KidJustin.

KidJustin shuffled some papers together and began:
Again, thank you all for coming and showing your support. As you have all witnessed, this years Clippers team is an absolutely new brand of its own. We are doing all we can to turn this franchise around, become relevant to the world, and finally shed away that Clippers curse. Without further ado, the first things we would like to share to you all is our new uniforms!

Music began to play as Coach Vinny Del Negro walked in to introduce Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.
Image

Del Negro spoke to the audience about the new material they used and how it will benefit the way the players play. As he spoke of the new design of the uniforms and how they arrived at it, a fan blurted out
Why are we making a change now? What's so important that it had to happen in the middle of the season?

KidJustin chimed in:
Well since you asked we might as well tell you about the second part of the meaning of this press conference. You see, we did our best to step away from our past image. In recent years we built a new training facility and acquired star power in Baron Davis, now our plan is coming full circle. We started the offseason by hiring a new coach in Vinny over there and made other changes in our coaching staff and front office such as adding in Reggie Miller, Danny Manning, and even me to this organization. Now we take an even bigger step as we have made a deal in which we had sadly departed with our long time Clipper favorite Chr....

Just then Olshey quickly rushed over and covered the microphone. He then whispered into KidJustin's ear before letting the microphone free.

KidJustin continued:
Excuse me for that. It appears that by league rules we can cannot officially disclose transaction information just yet. Everything has been approved and it is a matter of time of the league finalizing all of the necessary paper work. I promise you that the new additions will be available for our game tomorrow, they have been allowed to practice with the team and have already participated in today's. An official statement should be out before our game tomorrow against the New Jersey Nets. Again I apologize for leaving you all hanging, but I know the surprise will be well liked come tomorrow afternoon.

Olshey took over the podium to conclude the press conference. He apologized again for the abrupt change in announcements, but told the media and fans that they could stay longer and chat with Blake and DeAndre about their new uniforms.

The two were tight lipped about anything pertaining any transactions. Some of the media stayed outside of the parking lot exit, but no one was able to see anyone other than the Clipper players and staff we are currently accustomed to.

It appears the second part of the news will have to wait until tomorrow as this press conference has left some more mystery.
