Commentary is really bad....in the first vid it was ok, but this is really bad.
movements are still very robotic and stiff while dribbling
That blocked shot SOUND is still horrible and makes no sense whatsoever.....why can't they fix it?
The only thing that looked good was the Prince dirve and dunk, but that same drive and dunk were in nba live 10 too so no improvement there.
Rusel Westbrooke was alone on the fast break and Stuckey just walked in front of him and stood there and he stopped him.......no way that that would happen in real life. The speed isn't there in this game for some reason.
Hamiltons jumper is awful looking.......simply horrible. He's running to the side, then he takes a jumper jumping forward. disgusting.
@4:30 mark...........Wilcox grabbed a rebound over collison. The idea is nice. collison fell forward a little, but it just looked very bad.
only one realtime physics animation in this video...........Durant driving on 2 guys. it looked decent, but i'm afraid they aren't attacking the rim more, because the collisions look very awkward most of the time and they don't want people to see that yet.

Not good. Except ESPN integration and new commentators.
Sat Sep 04, 2010 4:05 am
Based on the two videos.
Interaction between commentators. It's like they aren't even together the same table and are in different parts of the arena.
Other than that, Mark Jackson has his signature lines.

or

considering it's Mark Jackson.
Very few off-ball movement.
No 3 second
defensive violation. Look at the shot clock.
What happened to
physics? Mid-air collision? Prince didn't even nudge from his spot.

Wow. 8 seconds at paint.
Sat Sep 04, 2010 7:24 am
Just looks like a positioning issue. He is allowed to be in the paint but he has to be within one arms length.

Am I only the person that thinks the 2nd OS video was worse than the first one?
Sat Sep 04, 2010 9:04 am
The 2nd Video looks like a "Show Off" Video, I actually liked it, cause it reminded me of the Old NBA Live games

I'm inclined to disagree but judging by some of the other posts, I'd say you're not alone.

I believe they've taken the Lockdown D system out of the game. If nothing else the Defensive Assist control is gone.
Sat Sep 04, 2010 1:34 pm
Is it? Don't think there is a button to stay with the ballhandler this year. It's up to you to play d. At the community event, there was a small assist mechanic that helped you stay with the dribbler if you guess correctly.

Novell said in the Q&A that the manual Defensive Assist control is gone but he did mention that mechanic.
New videos coming over the next couple of days:

The videos in some weird way remind me of the pc nba lives. I'll give the demo a shot. I think if i were to buy this game, Gamestop would definitely have something to say.

No i do too.
It seems clear nba elite has one play... on ball screen.
Other than that its just the same ... guy at the top over dribbling , a guy in each corner standing still , a guy in the low post and a guy waiting to come set a pick and roll.
It just looks like one on one basketball to me no teamwork what so ever.
Cant wait for the nba 2k11 video's to drop next week !

No lockdown D? It has been a while I didn't play a basketball video game without it. Funny.

From our Q&A:
Is the game balanced between offense and defense? Is the Defensive Assist control still available to help users stay with their man?
From a balance standpoint one of our goals was to make playing defense fun. We've had a lot of people say that steals feel powerful, blocks feel powerful, you can successfully stay with the ball carrier, CPU help defenders are more alert and aware of where the ball is and they will dig at the ball to knock the ball loose. So from a defensive standpoint you have the control available to you this year. We don't have defensive assist control this year but we have spent a considerable amount of time putting the player in a position that makes sense from a basketball standpoint and also from what the user is inputting on the control whether it be off-ball or on-ball.

From the videos, it does appear easier to stay in front of defender than previously without having to use an auto assist button
Sat Sep 04, 2010 10:32 pm
It always easier to stay in front of your when youre playing on the baseline camera view. Thats pretty much every nba live game.

It's cool.

I hope the game will be good. I hope "real physics" will be as effective as I expect on defense. I'm a bit anxious about that after watching the second video. It's strange to watch basketball games with no fouls.

Second video: Horrible. There are two fast-breaks that they need to be used. Can't Westbrook make a crossover and dunk? Real-life: Westbrook was a candidate for 2009 Slam Dunk Contest because of possessions like these. Look at Prince fast-break. He makes a shot and he regularly misses it. Real-life: He would make a dunk.

3rd Video. . . Side View = WAY BETTER. Gameplay Is Fluid

Broadcast game and off-cam capturing made this video look much much better overall IMO
MAJOR negative for me......the first two hornets dunks are the same animation....they really need to bump up the variety next year
Alleyoops look terrible. I remember when 2k had shitty ones and Live's looked a lot better.....what happened? looks spamable as well.
post anything looks like it will cheese very well. since it isnt a 2 man situation the offensive player can probably spin right by the D without issue.
overall this looked a lot better and a lot more playable IMO.
Sun Sep 05, 2010 9:59 am
Much better. The alley-oops didn't look terrible imo, probably because I'm used to seeing Live 10's slow-mo ones.

I think the shooting percentages are a little too high, and I'd like to see some more post moves, like sky hooks etc. (That's if they actually have them).

Thank god Live has sliders!!! Those other videos had me worried about the game, now I'm not even worried anymore!!! I think once you figure the defensive controls you'll know when to use the sticks properly and draw fouls or commit them. I think that's why there's rarely any foul calls, cause the computer doesn't commit them LOL. Also I think the speed of the game should be slowd down
Also note, Playoff Atmosphere is back, so this game is an automatic purchase!!! LOL

Quote from David Littman
"Via David Littman.
Hey guys...we will be putting out more and more videos as we drive to finish the game. Next week's videos will be direct capture, because these videos look a bit fast when just filmed with a camera in front of a TV. We will also have more gameplay that has not been seen yet...like put backs, more in-air collisions, hook shots, etc. As we get different dev guys playing the game, they each have different styles, so each set of videos will be different. We will focus on the CPU next week also. I will say that until you feel this game with your own hands (when you get the downloadable demo), it will be tough to understand how much control you truly have over the outcome of the game."

What happen at 0:13, 3:00 and 3:55 are exactly the actions I didn't want to be successful. Their Physic engine doesn't seem to work against spins. And This alley oop at 3:55

The defender didn't exist anymore.

Great to see a broadcast angle, I agree that the game looks better that way and I'm guessing that's the setting a lot of people will choose so it gives us a better idea of how it will look when we get our hands on the game or demo. I really think that should be the default camera, going back to a baseline gameplay camera is a mistake in my opinion. If nothing else, people who can't be bothered changing an option are going to jump up and down and complain that it doesn't look like a television broadcast, so I say make broadcast cam the default.
I still think some slider tweaks will be in order for sim heads but it seems we'll at least have something to work with. Nothing you could do about getting sucked into the two man animations in years past. Alley-oops did look a little easy but at least they weren't being tossed back to the three point line and going into slow motion as they were post-patch in NBA Live 10. Hopefully it'll be possible to deflect lob passes or put a body on the finisher, either blocking the shot or preventing the finish with a collision (with either a foul or no-call depending on the situation).
The videos have been getting better in my opinion, I certainly liked this better than the first two. Hopefully the fourth video continues that trend.
