SEATTLE (AP) – A week after his birthday, 40 year old Jason Kidd wound back the hands of time by dishing out a season high and career high tying 25 assists. The elder statesman struggled to contain his opposite star but was brilliant in distributing the ball and leading the Stealth to a grand total of 132 points for the game.
New Orleans’ Chris Paul’s tied season high of 38 points were not enough to carry his team as the Western Conference’s third place team fell to the first place Seattle Stealth by 40 points. The Hornets put in a woeful display that must be a confidence booster for the Stealth as the teams could meet in the playoffs.
Kevin Durant led the Stealth in scoring with 26 points and Andrew Bogut added 25. Allen Iverson chipped in 17 from off the bench, Reshawn Tyson and Aaron Karl put up 14 apiece.
“We’re looking great for the playoffs,” Head Coach Sit stated, “Jason is looking great. He is really leading our team to heights that we have never experienced together. These are exciting times and you could feel the buzz in the arena. The fans are excited and I personally cannot wait for everything to begin!”
Notes: Kidd added 4 points and 3 rebounds to his assists total… Mark Moore struggled mightily as he slogged his way to 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist. The Kiwi star backed down from his position a few weeks ago about his desire to stay in New Orleans. He said, “I think that I would like to test the (free agency) market and see what I can get offered”... Bogut said that his ankle was better and that he was bracing for an injury free postseason…
