The alternate control scheme is using X/Square for shoot again rather than the Live "norm" of B/Circle
Good thing they are doing the analog shooting which I'm already used to thanks to 2k the past 2 years.
BTW this is supposed to be 50% serious and 50% sarcastic, I've been standing on principle against Live 10 because of this change to the 2k shoot button after every single Live game before it being B/Circle (back to the SNES days) I realize it is something that I could get used to but I just dont want to since I still play Live 2004/06 nvm the NBA Street games and I dont want to mess myself up on those...it's bad enough with analog shooting vs freestyle
....NBA Live is dead

....damn realization hits me a few months late

Isn't 2k using square for shoot too?

JaoSming mentioned that Lean.

JaoSming wants Live, I mean Elite to go back with the B/circle button for shooting as opposed to the X/square button of 2K.
Patching 2k10 messed up Lean's head.

Maybe we can screw with the live controller config and aiact and emulate the elite control scheme a bit.

honestly I still like your jump shooting idea (right trigger)
do you remember how to get the axis crap working in Live configs again? its either +axis# or axis#+ but neither are working for me....and I swore that worked before

Look in main/cscripts/xgamefnc.cfg. I had to do this to the config to get the x360 triggers to work in 06.
bind -axis2 FAKE
bind +axis2 DIRECTSHOOT
so try axis1 or axis0.
EDIT - It's -axis4 There are repercussions, though. On defense it now becomes take charge instead of hands up. We can fix all the moves somehow in the ranalog.act file.

Shooting shouldn't be forced onto B/Circle either, you should be allow to configure everything in all games forever, amen.

sayith the word of the ji

I got used to the change pretty quickly in NBA Live 10 and I'll be trying to get used to the right analog controls so it doesn't bother me too much, but I definitely agree that ideally we should be able to customise those classic controls.

Primarily you use the right analog stick to shoot called "the shot button".
Thu Aug 05, 2010 10:09 am
shot button? ....shot stick man
as I stated many times last year, Live had a time proven method which changed when Wang came over (or just general 2k influence) and now not only are we getting a shot stick moreorless but still "stuck" with the 2k button alternative.
it's petty, stupid, and hypocritical of me, I know, but I'm allowed to not like the direction for principle sake.

People keep saying the Elite's controls will be the same thing of 2K's, but, in 2K, do you have control of whether your shot goes in or not?
Thu Aug 05, 2010 10:25 am
I'm not sure if there's a "dice roll" employed in 2K, but it does recognise the release of the shot stick/shoot button as early, late, good, bad, perfect, slightly early, slightly late, etc.
Thu Aug 05, 2010 10:56 am
There is always a "dice roll" in every game otherwise it is always patterned, scripted, and predictable. It just depends on how much they balance the random dice roll, the computed skill of the character, and the user's input precision/timing.
