Deng, as much as I like him, i bet hinrich could start on any team that doesnt have an all star pg in the league.
Thu Jun 24, 2010 11:11 am
who would u trade??
trade both!!!
if LBJ is coming to town, trade DENG
actually i prefer to trade DEng in almost any instances. i'd be happy to trade Deng for PIetrus & Gortat (rumor floating around since yesterday

air gordon wrote:So Maggette is some all star now because he had a great fantasy bball season? Maggette's has injury issues of his own, is on the wrong side of 30, doesn't play defense
i'm not a fan myself, just read this thread lol, but Deng is a skilled player, plays both sides of the ball, not a ballhog, and is only 24. Luol deng is viewed as shit only because he's overpaid a few million $.
The 30 year old Maggette played more games than younger 24 year old Deng in the past 3 years. Not bad for an old player with injury issues.

I'd trade both too, but I'd be surprised if PaxMan could pull that off in one offseason. If they can only move one, I too would trade Deng before Hinrich.

This will wet your taste buds than air, Deng and #17 to the Clippers for the #8 pick:
Chris Broussard wrote:For the Bulls, this would be an even greater move because they'd clear even more cap space by removing Deng's $10.3 million salary. When adding the $2.1 million they'd have to pay the eighth pick and subtracting the $1.3 million for their 17th pick, the Bulls would still be nearly $30 million under the cap. That's nearly enough to offer both LeBron James and Chris Bosh maximum contracts. To form a nucleus that would include James, Bosh, Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, you'd think James and Bosh might be willing to give up $1 or $2 million.
Thu Jun 24, 2010 12:38 pm
That's pretty tempting. I guess the Clippers are withdrawing from the free agent frenzy if they're considering that deal.
Thu Jun 24, 2010 12:46 pm
That does sound far, far too good to be true. A fairly high draft pick and a shot at a LeBron/Bosh duo. The Bulls could fill every need that they have by making that deal. A scoring big man, drafting someone like Xavier Henry (not ideal, but still useful) and then getting the best player in the world.
I will continue to breathe normally for the time being.
Thu Jun 24, 2010 1:03 pm
Indeed, it would be too perfect. Probably best not to get our hopes up right now.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 6:56 am
Hinrich and 17th to the Wizards for nothing, but this won't happen until July, because Wizards won't have cap space before (Chicago will pick for them I guess).
Source. If Chicago hits the homerun in FA, this will be a great deal, if not, then screws them.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 8:21 am
looks like the rumor isn't a rumor. it's being reported as becoming official after July 8.
the deal gives them $ for 2 Max free agents. this is crazy!! i can't see a smart business man like Jerry Reinsdorf making a risk like this without some assurances

Fingers crossed. For now I love the deal and have to admit I'm getting my hopes up a little more at this point, but needless to say I'll be profoundly disappointed if it's all for naught.

All things aside, it's disappointing to see Hinrich's tenure in Chicago come to an end. He's had his ups and downs, but he's been a loyal guy. A good mentor for Derrick Rose and a very good player in his own right. I've probably been his biggest fan here since his rookie year, and will continue to remain as such, even though he's headed to Wallington.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:00 am
Absolutely, he's definitely had his moments and he's shown a lot of character on top of that. Still, the opportunity is there to make some big acquisitions so the time to trade him has come, hopefully it will prove to be a deal for the greater good.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:06 am
Of course, I don't disagree with the move at all. It certainly had to be done, and hopefully it works out for the better.
In terms of the Wizards, I think Captain Kirk is an interesting fit. I think he works better alongside Wall than Arenas does, because he won't require the ball in the same way that Arenas will.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:13 am
So, the Bulls just picked Kevin Seraphin. Doesn't seem like a pick the Bulls would make for themselves.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:18 am
Yeah, doesnt make sense if they're drafting for themselves. Wherever he winds up, he's probably not going to be stashed overseas for a couple of years, because apparently he's already close to his ceiling.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:33 am
That pick is the one included in the Hinrich trade, it was for the Wizards.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 11:36 am
That's what we're getting at.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 6:17 pm
Chicago also gave the Wizards 3 million dollars in cash in the Hinrich deal.
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/ ... id=5326055NEW YORK -- In a different life, back when he was in charge of assembling his hometown Knicks, Ernie Grunfeld said there was only one thing more frightening in the NBA than the prospect of clearing salary cap space:
Clearing that cap space and having no worthwhile free agents willing to take it.
So thanks to Grunfeld, Knicks president Donnie Walsh should be afraid. Very, very afraid.
Grunfeld's Washington Wizards just cut a deal with the Chicago Bulls that e-mailed New York the kind of presidential message once famously sent by a Daily News headline writer posing as Gerald Ford.
Grunfeld to City: Drop Dead.
Anddddddd look at the Wizards delivering the ether to New York.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 7:15 pm
It seems that this is a big risk for the Bulls. So in my opinion, this will end up either on a Huge FA success,or into the exact opposite/If we can sign Bosh and Lebron ,or Wade and Lebron or any other great couple of FAs we can make a team which is automaticaly a Championship contender team.
We'll see then
Fri Jun 25, 2010 7:29 pm
Indeed, it's either the prelude to a free agency coup or a crushing disappointment as they give away a key player and a draft pick for nothing in return. Here's hoping it's the former, I think air gordon brings up a great point that they have a lot of confidence in their ability to land the player(s) they covet to take such a risk, so I'll quash my PaxMan pessimism...for the moment.
Fri Jun 25, 2010 8:00 pm
If the Bulls lure James, then Bosh is most likely to follow, having said that he first watches what LeBron does. A starting line-up with Noah, Bosh, James, Deng and Rose definitely makes them an instant contender.
Sat Jun 26, 2010 7:21 am
An instant contender that can possibly dominate the league for a decade.

even the pessimist in me couldn't imagine Paxson trading his golden boy, Hinrich.
my fav hinrich moments:
game 2 05 playoffs vs the Wiz. "kurt" goes bonkers, cans a bunch of 3's in the 4th qtr
in some randomn game he steals the ball midcourt, looks like he's going in for a wide open dunk, then in the last second flips it up and misses they layup
the skirmish vs Rondo in game 6 in last year's series against the Celts. After Rondo shoves him into the scorer's table, Hinrich acts like he's got a pair and comes after him. ahh what a great game/series
i don't know where this mentoring thing came from but Hinrich is a coaches wet dream. enjoy washington
Sat Jun 26, 2010 11:16 pm
Damn... Seems like the Bulls became the most desirable place for the free agents after dumping Hinrich's contract. At least the media says so.
