The second one sounds a hell lot more interesting than the first one. (Y)

Lean, dunno what kind of redress you can seek in your country but perhaps you can take the university to court for some kind of unfairness in the decision making process of awarding the payment to other members? This is of course if you cannot argue some kind of breach in contract if the terms of contract or it is traditionallu agreed that the Dean can choose who/what to pay members of the faculty on a perfomrance basis.

So what I undertsand is that it is the dean's own discretion as to who gets the money and the amount. My point is since she didn't pay you properly, seemingly in her own interests/perverse view of you, then it just seems a little unfair and unreasonable. Again, I don't know how it would work over there but over here, you could definitely take the University to court for that.

But it would costs Lean more money that may result in him being a male escort just to cover his expenses and the judge's decision may come after 10 years, 5 years tops! Yes, our judicial system rules.

Top 'speed' of our judicial system, in chronologically inverse terms.

Epic battle between good old donut eating neighborhood lawyer VS huge LAW firm layers?

Perhaps, Lean proves to be an awesome male escort, and hires a top notch lawyer.

If Lean can find a lawyer that's willing to take a case like that and devote years of their life in pursuing the case.
AFAIK, the college Lean works for has different campuses and Lean works in one of it. The school might get off the hook because the way I see it it's the dean that's doing the magic tricks. Assuming Lean wins the case and the school gets off the hook, the guilty dean won't probably have enough money to pay Lean's cost outright, so Lean and his lawyer will probably wait again for another 10 years to get their complete winnings.

All that just to get Lean's stolen $108.50 (converted).

Of course it's a different story if Lean can convince others to join him then file a class action lawsuit, in which case it'll probably be handled by the school with an out of court settlement, then Lean and the others will be bathing in their money and burning it to light their cigars.

My colleagues scrapped the "complain to the boss" idea, they -- of course -- fears the idea of having their jobs sacked next just because of helping me get my money.

And yes, our judicial system is even slower than McDwyane's brain.

I was being pretty unreasonable when I said go to court because I wouldn't go to court over such a small sum of money - not that you would find a lawyer who'd take the case.

Is there anything like a tribunal for you guys? An informal route of dispute resolution dealing with smaller amounts of money, etc? No lawyers involved but having a magistrate/judge sit in to listen... and you did say going to the board won't solve anything?

I guess you're pretty much fucked...

Yeah, so the dean screwed up an employee for a little sum of money and I believe if I push forward in reclaiming what's mine she'd just turn the tables in her favor and make me look like the real bad guy.

From the sounds of it, your best bet is just to move on and be glad you won't have to deal with her anymore.

In the meantime, you can always continue to bitch in this thread. After all, this is what it was made for!

Anyways, I will now have a whinge. I hate retail. The customers are so fucking stupid and they really are testing my patience. Back to back days of rude and retarded customers... but it won't get better once I start my real career. Shame.

No doubt, I don't miss retail at all. It's money and it's experience, but I could never make a career of it. I tip my hat to those who have the ability and the patience to stick it out and climb up the ladder in retail, but they're welcome to it.

Guess any job related to retail is out for me. I don't have such patience, I even scolded a bunch of old people for not falling in line at a hospital.

Get your shots at Sauru in now. If/when the Celtics win the championship, he'll be insufferably smug until next season.

And rightfully so.

I have respect for old man Sauru. I just hate him that's all.

Like the way I hate Kobe because he's with the Lakers but I still respect his skills that make him one of the best NBA players today.

Let's face it. We'd all rather have Sauru throwing up feces here rather than Kobe fans going rampaging all season long.
