Barbosa for Horford, I think it's ok.

A young, talented All-Star Center for a guy, who plays less then 20 mpg? Major rip-off in my mind.

Surprised you lost to the 16-26 Hawks though..

Yeah, it is a rip off. I said it's ok considering Amare will be gone for the Suns and Johnson for Atlanta, as least they have a plan B.

Fair enough, I suppose you've got to let the CPU make its own mistakes some of the time. ;) It certainly doesn't compare to Kobe, LeBron and Melo getting traded.

Oklahoma City Thunder [33-8] vs Indiana Pacers [24-22]

Thunder lose second straight on the road

Image

Oklahoma City travelled to Indiana to take on the Pacers in their 7th straight road game. All the travelling seems to be catching up with them lately.
In the last game against Atlanta they looked tired and didn't have their usual energy. This was the first meeting between these two teams this season.
The first quarter was an early example of how this game would go. Both teams found scoring easy. It would be defensive stops that would win this game.
Kevin Durant got off the a flyer, scoring 21 points in the first. Jeff Green added a three pointer on the buzzer to give the Thunder a 34-27 lead.
The Thunder's tiredness showed in the second as Indiana overran them and got out to a 62-53 lead by the half. Durant only scored 2 points in the second.
Oklahoma City rallied in the third and Durant got his shooting touch back. He lead the Thunder back into a 89-85 lead by the end of the quarter.
However, his tiredness got the better of him in the fourth and he started missing shots. Rudy Gay and Jeff Green tried to pick up the slack.
But the Thunder gave up the lead late on and Indiana held off a last minute charge to win 121-118. Thunder's 3rd loss in 4 games by less than 5 points .
Durant scored a game high 39, which makes it 12 straight games with 25 or more points. Rudy Gay found his scoring touch again and added 24.

Another loss. After such a long road trip the losses are quite realistic. Hopefully your players can rest up and find that energy again.

Wed Mar 17, 2010 3:56 pm

Yeah, I've lost my offensive rhythm in the last few games. I can't seem to get my 'big 3' guys to all fire on the same night.

3 losses in 4 games now. Not quite sure who I play next, but I hope it's at home and I can get my offense running smoothly again.

Hope you can get back on track soon, though it's hardly a major slump. On the bright side, your record's probably not going to be too unrealistic at the season's end, hopefully you can still set a new franchise record though (obviously I'm including the shared heritage with the Sonics here ;)).

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder - New City, New Challenge [33-9]

another tough loss. you definitely need some home cookin' to get things back on track

just backtracked to Horford - Barbosa; no doubt that is one strange swap... then again after KG to Boston (who had just come off a year with the league's worse record), it's hard to rule out any trade as impossible... okay, except maybe Lebron for... Speedy Claxton? :cheeky:

Quite true, though Minnesota did get Al Jefferson in that deal. The Suns got Charles Barkley for nowhere near equal value back in the day though, so these deals do go down.

Oklahoma City Thunder [33-9] vs Golden State Warriors [15-33]

Thunder unconvincing in win over Warriors

Image

Oklahoma City took on Golden State in their 8th consecutive road game. They were looking to get back on track after 3 losses in 4 games.
Things started badly though, with rookie guard Stephen Curry leading the Warriors to a 28-21 lead after the first quarter.
It didn't get much better for the Thunder in the second either. Curry was showing the leadership of a veteran and scoring with ease.
In fact, the Warriors actually built on their lead and eventually lead 55-45 at the half. Curry had 20 points and was running the game.
The Thunder showed great determination in the third and managed to reel in the Warriors and even got in front 80-79 with one to play.
The Warriors scored the first 4 points in the fourth and it looked like the Thunder were going to let another game get away from them.
They rallied and the game became a shoot-out. Curry at one end and Kevin Durant at the other. But Durant had Gay and Green helping him.
Gay had somewhat rediscovered his scoring touch in this game and helped his team get the decisive break in the fourth. Thunder won 113-104.
Oklahoma City's so called 'Big 3' combined for 85 points in the game. It wasn't their best performance, but it shows they are getting back on track.
Durant scored an equal game high 34 points and extended his streak to 13 games. Curry also scored 34 points, but didn't have much help.

Perhaps not the prettiest win, but it ended a losing streak before it could really get going and it'll do for a road weary team. Meanwhile, good to see Durant continue his streak and top the league in scoring, not surprising after his 63 point outburst.

Apparently. He will retire after the first season most likely though.

For the first half of the match I couldn't get close to them and Curry was scoring for fun. Took a big effort to get the win.

Can someone tell me how Charlotte are above Orlando, Chicago are above Indiana, Utah are above Dallas and Memphis are above the Clippers?
Aren't the standings ranked by win percentage?

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder - New City, New Challenge [34-9]

Yeah, in NBA Live 10, Mutombo is on the free agency list along with the likes of PJ Brown, Robert Horry (who I signed), Bruce Bowen and Jalen Rose.

Anyway, another great win, looks like you're well on your way to the playoffs (y)

Looks like another bug to me. The only way a team can be seeded above teams with better records is if they are leading their Division, in which case they'll be no lower than the fourth seed.

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder - New City, New Challenge [34-9]

Thu Mar 18, 2010 10:41 am

But Charlotte and Orlando are in the same division. It must be a bug.

Exactly. Chicago and Indiana are in the same Division as well and neither are the Division leader. Definitely something amiss there.

Cleveland are just ahead of those 2 and are leading the Central division and are 4th in the East.

Oklahoma City Thunder [34-9] vs Los Angeles Clippers [23-26]

Gay gets his touch back against Clippers

Image

The Thunder players must be getting homesick by now. Their trip to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers is their 9th road game in a row.
They started this game well. Leading the scoring was Russell Westbrook with 8 points and Rudy Gay with 11. They lead 34-25 after one.
In past games where they had big first quarters, the Thunder usually took their foot off the gas in the second. That wasn't the case tonight though.
They were determined to put in a strong performance. Kevin Durant had more input in the second and had 19 points at the half. Thunder lead 67-50.
Gay and Jeff Green kept the Thunder ahead in the third after the Clippers fought back a little. Thunder still lead 92-78 with one to play.
The Clippers never really looked like challenging in the fourth and the Thunder comfortably ran out 10 point winners in the end, 115-105.
Gay, Durant and Green seemed to have their offensive game working again. They shared the scoring and all contributed well at the defensive end.
They combined for 93 points. Durant's 34 extending his streak to 14 games. Gay finally seems to be getting his scoring touch back after a drought.

Definitely something amiss with the schedule too...or did you randomise it? Anyway, looks like you're getting back on track, good win over the Clippers.

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder - New City, New Challenge [35-9]

Thu Mar 18, 2010 12:52 pm

Just rejected 2 offers for Rudy Gay. Milwaukee offered Bogut. Lakers offered Artest.

I thought about Bogut for a second, but decided against it for a couple reasons..
- I'd have $6m-$7m less cap room. Bogut is on $10m, Gay is on $3.5m. (Although if I re-sign Gay I'd have to offer him a $8m-$14m contract probably.)
- I'd have 4 centers. I only really use Wallace and Mullens. Krstic only gets game time if those 2 are in foul trouble or I'm winning by a lot.
- I'd lose depth at SG. Would have to start Harden, with Sefolosha as back up.

Although it would have been nice to have Bogut in my team being Australian  And maybe I could have re-signed Gay as a FA at the end of the season.

Double header against Phoenix up next. Could determine who ends up with the best record in the West or even the entire league. :cheeky:

Andrew wrote:Definitely something amiss with the schedule too...or did you randomise it? Anyway, looks like you're getting back on track, good win over the Clippers.

Yeah, I think it's randomised. Not sure why I did that actually. Realism fail on my part there for sure :?

Azzdogs wrote:Good win over the Clips and good to see Gay scoring. Also Griffin had a big game.

It's like I forgot that Gay could score lately. I'm glad I remembered

Good to see Rudy scoring like that. Maybe if you trade a role player and a scrub and/or a pick for Bogut, so you keep Rudy.
