Conversion of stats from Live '98 to '09

Postby GANTY on Mon Nov 23, 2009 6:01 pm

Is there any conversion chart, calculator or anything like that for the stats in NBA Live '98 to '09. The other day I got the stats for the Bulls team in '98 and made D. Rodman then when I looked at his overall it was 99, I thought surely he wasnt that good and by the looks of it all stats in '98 would make high 80 or low 90 overalls no matter what.

So yeh, is thare anything that will help me change the stats so they will be a more realistic representation of a player??

NBA Live 09 rates players from 0-99 whereas NBA Live 98 used ratings that ranged from 50-99. If you take a look in the NBA Live 98 players.dbf file, you'll see that the ratings are represented as follows:

0-1=50
2-3=51
4-5=52

and so on.

Thus, if a player has a rating of 50 in NBA Live 98, assign a rating of 0 or 1 in NBA Live 09. A rating of 60 in 98 would equal 20 or 21 in 09.

Thank you so much! :D I ended up just making the 10 played rostered on to the Bulls in '98 with another players current stats changed a bit eg Dennis Rodman=Kevin Garnett

I have just adjusted the stats for the Bulls and the Jazz and it seams to be alot more realistic. Thank you very much Andrew (Y)

Just a couple more questions MJs dunk is 70 on '98 or 41 on '09. Do you think this is realistic, because every pic you see of him he is dunking or laying up and back to back wins in the slam dunk contest.

Also how do you work out the overall on '09. Do you just add all the stats together and divide by 10. eg Luc Longley=842 therefore his overall will be 84

He wasn't dunking as often in 1998 as he was in his mid 30s and while still an exceptional athlete, he was past his peak. I think 70/41 is probably a bit low all the same, you might still want to go with a rating of 80 or so in NBA Live 09.
