why did they fuck up on this so bad? like honestly look at how low the players are. grant hill 61? how the hell is rondo better than almost every PG? rose is better than rondo. i went crazy over every player rating. i aint gonna go thru every player fixing their ratings. live will b better.

dude. overall player ratings dont mean a thing.. seriously.. yeh all the suns are low.. you know why?? cos they are all offense no defense.. so that means they dont get ratings in the defense cats... making them drastically different in the overall.. overall ratings suck bad..

They have a new rating system in place as well, which allows them to lower everyone's rating.

The ratings are allright, or at least they do a decent job of differetiating the players.
One thing, releated to ratings, that sucks is that you can't assing player specific dunk packages to their respective players unless their dunk rating is 85+, which means that Yao, for example, can't have his dunk package assigned to him if you don't give him a dunk rating that he absolutely doesn't deserve.

I guess to see if the ratings are done properly, we'd have to see the stats of a simmed association season.

I don't think the ratings are bad, they are just different, and you have grown up in a gaming world where all the players are superstars in the games.
This new rating system is awesome, only the elite players are 85 or better, not just all the starting 5 players from every team lol.
But yes, tee-pane you are completely right, we will have to see how a the statistics over a season span out to comment on authenticity.
I think it will be good, for those that play 2k9, how often do you see sub par teams (chicago, Toronto, Dallas, Denver).. top the league at the end of the season, hopefully these new stats will make the teams finish with the record that they should.

I think new rating system is ok. Only stars got over 85. Good job 2k.

Well stars and Rondo, so I am very happy

Rondo put up a double-double almost every game in last season preseason. and made good plays, i can see why he has a high rating

The reason Rondo is the second highest rated PG in the game is because he is the second best PG in the NBA. I think some of the ratings are a little shaky (Dirk is way too low, Arenas way to high, etc.) but I think the new system is an overall improvement. If not, at least 2K doesn't have 100 different ratings you have to edit like Live does.

Alright, to help come to a conclusion on this issue, I have done some homework on the 2k10 ratings and the live 10 ratings of the top 10 ratings for each position. I went through and found mean averages.
Let's start with Live 10:
PG- 86 (and no Rondo??) (6 PG's over 85)
SG- 86
SF- 86
PF- 86 (very overrated PF's, 8 of them over 85)
C- 82 (7 centers over 80, only 3 in 2k10)
Ok and now for 2k10:
PG- 85 (C3P, D-ron, Rondo are top 3)
SG- 84 (But no Kevin Martin?)
SF- 84
PF- 83
C- 78 (and thank God, Yao Ming is finally rated properly, at 83, not around the 90's)
So here we can conclude that the mean average for the top 10 players of positions in Live 10 is 85, whilst in 2k10 it is 82. Live seems to be handing out ratings at will, and overrating players (still with Yao at around 88 I think. 2k10 has a few hiccups, but I would say the ratings will take a steep decline through the complete lists, and would appear to be more realistic.

Ratings will never be perfect
All that matters is whether you can win
