ok, thanks! i'll visit your blog, i love philippine basketball blogs, you may know hoPH or patay butiki too, been a regular visitor of those blogs (including IBN) for more than a year now.

btw, bout PBL. I hardly watch PBL now, because they dont telecast it regularly on Free TV, dont have BTV (poor, no cable tv, haha). Last time i watched pbl was when Norwood was still there.

@mateosingko....yep those guys are active posters,,..I enjoy their posts as well, specially their insider news.... I think the PBA is also affected by the financial crisis, Red Bull being the first casualty

Anyway......there won't be unemployment for basketball players in RP.with Liga Pilipinas at full swing, and the Asean Basketball League starting,

majority of the teams in the ABL had atleast 2 or 3 Filipino Players, just look at the lineup of Brunei BC, Don Camaso and Joey Mente would be leading that squad.....(Think of the patching possibilities)

The Singapore Slingers would be fielding Al Vergara (and maybe 2 more Filipino players)

really? my first time to hear that Slingers are part of it, very nice league in the making, another potential mod for NBA live lol

yeah.....I was thinking of the same thing, a number of our scrubs (Camaso, Mente, even Johnny A) would be playing for the league, even some of our coaches would be employed by that league...Perhaps in due time, should be successful, it would challenge the PBA for players.

Sana in the future Versions of the UPB, we could include some of the ABL teams

btw Leo Avenido would be playing for the Brunei BC Barracudas

the only issue facing the league would be the cost of a home and away format (flight expenses, hotel accomodations etc)

Kiko Adriano will play as an import too, forgot which team, but i think he and Camaso are teammates with Ramos(?) as their coach. Wainright is trying out on our Philippine Patriots team.

would you be including in your patch the PBA Legends team that faced the team of Abdul Jabbar?

...I just hope that the ABL would not suffer the same fate as the MBA,,and I hope this would increase the popularity of Basketball in the region.....
Nga pala, 5 yrs ago, Brunei attempted to create its won Pro League, majority of the Players were Filipinos or played for the MBA (Jeff Flowers, Rommel Adducul, Joel Co, Peter Naron etc) but the league folded when PBA teams started to play exhibition games in Brunei in lieu of the league..

yep, i am planning to include that team, could someone post some pics from that game? So i can start doing their jerseys and logos.

I know they will be useful to your jersey patches.. I really lack time doing what ive always wanted to do, so, for the betterment and faster progress of the UPB project, i give them to you..! BTW, those jerseys were from the ill-fated project of uchihijami 'PBA Live 03'.. im expecting that you make these jerseys great. I'm a fan of retro jerseys! Hehe!

Toyota Otis rejoins PBL

After a short rest, the Toyota Otis Sparks is back with the Philippine Basketball League (PBL).

This was confirmed by team owner Rey Oben on Thursday, saying he doesn't want the league he had helped a lot in the past years to fold up because of lack of competitors.

Oben, a shipping and transportation magnate, met with PBL Commissioner Chino Trinidad recently to assure his commitment to the league which is slated to start later this year.

With the return of the dreaded Sparks, the PBL will open its first conference with at least six teams.

The others are defending champion the Oracle Titans of the Harbour Centre Group, Pharex Bidang Generix of Pascual Laboratories, Cobra Energy Drink Warriors of Asia Brewery, Licealiz Hair Doctors of Lamoiyan Corp. and Magnolia Purewater Wizards of San Miguel Corp.

"When we are asked to reactivate the team after our short leave, we did not hesitate because we still believe in the Commissioner's programs for the league," said Oben.

Trinidad expressed his gratitude to Oben for heeding the call for his team to rejoin the league after just a year of absence.

"The Toyota Otis Sparks are truly one of the cornerstones of the PBL and without them, it was different. I am happy to welcome Atty. Oben and board representative Mr. Gil Angeles back among the active participants and look forward to working with them," Trinidad said.

The Sparks, who finished second to Habour Centre several times, first joined the league in 2004. Frank Calapre - The Manila Times
