sayang bro, for P300 more you could have gotten a 9500GT GDDR3

http://www.rsun.com.ph/catalog.php?cat=VPC

but anyway, if it works fine for you then its all good :D

To any RP based guys looking for a cheap card here is a good one, 9600GT for only P3850..
I remember buying an 8800GTS 320mb last 2007 for P17000+ and this one is about as strong and oh so cheap..damn

Yeah, my bad, I was very eager to buy a new graphic card that I forgot to check other stores. It was too late, I already purchased a 9400gt when I saw another store that sells a 9500gt for P2500. (sa katapat na tindahan lang yun bro ng binilihan ko ng 9400gt)

congrats on the new card anyway :D

can you do me a favor bro? can you run the fraps benchmark (f11) Id like to see the minimum and maximum a 9400GT can do, would also be helpful to the thread to see how each card performs

might also be a good idea for a thread eh? so those shopping for graphics cards can see which one will be good enough for their needs/budget

anyway heres mine

The Radeon 3000 series should be able to run the game, but not very well.

Can I run NBA 2k9?

I honestly don't know how well(probably not well at all) an onboard graphics chip will run the game, but the minimum ATI chip that is supported is an ATI x1300 with 128 mb of video ram. The 3000 should be supported.

If you can afford to put down some more money and buy a videocard along with that system, you will be in good shape for running the game on max settings plus eye candy if necessary.

It all depends on what your main focus is for wanting to buy a computer.

Well, the seller lets me add a 512MB nVIDIA 8400GS PCI-EX VIDEO CARD for $43. Would I be able to run it then? Also, I'm thinking of expanding the RAM to 6gb.

Or would adding a 512MB GeForce 9400GT DVI/HDCP PCI-EXPRESS VIDEO CARD for $53 be better for gameplay?

You would be able to play it ok with either of those videocards. I'm not sure how much videocard power is really needed to run the game on maximum. That is what you want, right? To run the game on maximum settings, with moving jerseys and high res crowd? If you aren't worried about playing on maximum settings, then get one of those cards you mentioned. Otherwise, look into buying a videocard separately.

If you want to be able to play other games on your computer that are new, you may have to spend $100 on the videocard alone.

I'm looking to just be able to play the game at a modest setting with good fps, so I'd say around high, very high settings. Would getting the 9400 make a big difference? I can live without max settings. I'm not really planning on playing any other games, besides 2k10 if it's any good.

no point upgrading to 6Gb, just save the money for a better videocard

a 9400GT would be ok at low resolutions (i guess) based on christian.'s post

NBA 2K9 Settings:
800x600
MSAA: Off
MSAA Quality: N/A

All in high settings
Player in Ultra High
All ON

Vsync ON
nba2k9 2009-06-04 10-56-32-48
Frames: 154
Time (ms): 5000
Min: 29
Max: 33
Avg: 30.8

Vsync OFF
nba2k9 2009-06-04 10-59-50-73
Frames: 248
Time (ms): 5000
Min: 43
Max: 63
Avg: 49.6

So yeah if you are running at that resolution then I guess youd be ok, other than that try to push the budget to at least an 8600GT/9500GT or even a 9600GT these shouldnt

I was checking newegg and the price difference between a 9400GT and a 9600GT can be less than $10 but the performance gap is HUGE making the difference well worth it..

Know what? You might as well go for a better budget card. Spend at least $100 and you will be fine.

This 3870 is a 100.

I agree with Pdub

if you are shopping for a videocard, go with at least a 9600GT/HD3870/8800GT/9800GT these are cheap nowadays and some can be had for below $100

the price difference between them and the more expensive but current gen low end cards like a 9500GT isnt much considering the huge performance difference

heres some "random" charts I found on the web and see how a big jump in performance there is from a 9500GT to a 9600GT..again this 9500GT is about the same as an 8600GT and is better than a 9400GT (dont care if 512mb or 1 or 2Gb as it wont be able to use that amount of vRAM anyway)

I think this a $20 price difference is very much justified

im getting about 45-55 fps but there are times that it suddenly goes down. it really annoys me because it is so noticeable. i believe i can get more with my system. any help is appreciated.. thanks guys..

by the way i got all my settings on high except the crowd, it is on medium.. i cannot put the players on ultra high because of the lag.. :(
