lol, it's not like Jordan never lost a playoff game...
Tue Apr 28, 2009 1:06 am
That wasn't the point; it was blowing a 24 point lead in the NBA Finals at home.
Regardless of whether that proves anything about any player - and it's admittedly a bit melodramatic to say the least - that particular loss in the Finals last year was a baffling game. Between Phil Jackson's savvy and knack for motivation and Kobe's ability to take over a game and score at will, the collapse was a weird thing to witness. If ever there was a time to say "Kobe, do your thing" and let him go out and do that, that was it. For whatever reason it didn't happen though and it was surprising because he is a great player and I think we were all waiting for the explosion to come.

But he was talking about game three of the first round, not last years NBA Finals.
Wed Apr 29, 2009 10:28 am
Game three, we were up 14 with Kobe jacking up shot after shot. However, it's not like the other Lakers were doing anything better.
And I was being a bit sarcastic in response to whoever said Game 4 made Kobe the greatest of all time.

Anyways, on topic, glad Lakers are onto the next round! Can't wait to play Houston!

My mistake, that's what I getting for skimming. In any case, what I said about the Finals game still stands, that was one of the most surprising results I've seen in recent years. If the Lakers get into a similar position in a big game this year I expect a different result though.

Yeah you're right, I am as big a Lakers and Kobe fan as there is here in Aus and I was extremely disappointed in that game last year. Couldn't understand why Kobe didn't step up...bad times indeed, lol.
I'm expecting a different result this year too.

I don't know. I didn't get to watch the game last year but perhaps Jax was trying to reiterate that it's a team effort so he didn't want Kobe to go himself despite the Lakers having the Celtics coming back at them hard?
All I can say is that the Lakers lost to the better team last season... Pau and Lamar played shit the whole Finals series as well which did not help their case!

I think you're being a bit harsh on Pau Gasol....he had only been with the team a few months & probably didn't know the triangle as well as he does now....plus his teammates now find him....no excuses for Lamar, but I think Pau's only problem was he played really soft....
Wed Apr 29, 2009 11:24 pm
Pau being soft made him not as much of a factor against the Celtics as against the other teams that the Lakers played on their way to the Finals.

As for Lamar, if that guy was at least a little bit consistent, I would just be estatic. I mean, the Lamar I saw last game with like 12 points and 8 rebounds by halftime and finishing with 25 and 14... can't remeber exactly... I wish that Lamar showed up every night!
Oh well, I guess enough of all this though. This year is a new chance for the team to win it all!

Rockets it is! I'm happy to see Yao get into the second round but am not going to be happy if the Lakers get beaten by Houston (which won't happen though).
I'm looking forward to Kobe v Artest, remember the regular season game where both of them were yapping all game? I'm ready for some pretty epic pre and post game comments from Artest, he is a character!
I'm feeling a Lakers 4-1 series win.
Fri May 01, 2009 10:33 pm
Let's go LA. Houston you have a problem
Mon May 04, 2009 9:03 pm
Houston are going to get smashed out there. No denying that.
Mon May 04, 2009 9:30 pm
Lakers will sweep the Rockets!
Kobe will score 50!
Tue May 05, 2009 10:30 am
In 50 shots?
Tue May 05, 2009 12:55 pm
Lakers are the first seed. Also, Bynum = Oden.
Tue May 05, 2009 5:47 pm
Ok, so we lost game 1. I'm not worried. Props to the Rockets but I don't see them winning anymore games.

As i've said to qBaller on facebook, I consider Houston a distant third best in the West. Lakers are the best and Nuggets are second.
Sat May 09, 2009 2:47 pm
Lakers have got this in the bag.
Fuck Houston, and Fuck Artest! Hope he gets suspended, because it looks like he is their only hope.
Sun May 10, 2009 11:50 am
Pretty much, now that Yao's done for the postseason.
Sun May 10, 2009 2:04 pm
Lakers should win comfortably considering Yao's out for the rest of the series. LA can't get lazy, they have to keep the pressure on.
Tue Jun 02, 2009 11:45 am
I was browsing online and saw an interesting line: 'Lamar: Lakers' MVP'
I have been loving some of the games Lamar has been putting up, particularly with Bynum not playing well. I think we will see Odom starting instead of Bynum in the Finals because we need him to guard either Hedo or Rashard Lewis with Ariza on the other.
And I guess I'm a bit worried that Orlando is our opponent. They have a better shot of beating us than the Cavs did. Much better team and if Nelson was not hurt, I'd be shitting myself. The Lakers don't handle the smaller and quicker PGs very well.
Tue Jun 02, 2009 12:01 pm
So Odom will guard either Hedo or Lewis with Ariza on the other. You seem to be forgetting someone:

If you say Gasol, I laugh at you Sit.
Tue Jun 02, 2009 11:04 pm
man if they put Gasol on howard they're just increasing the chances of Gasol getting injured

so Sit if you choose Gasol i'll also laugh at you
Tue Jun 02, 2009 11:46 pm
+1
I really agree. There is no way Gasol can defend Howard down the lane. He'll just hit the floor and suffer a back injury when he do that.
Wed Jun 03, 2009 2:03 am
Gasol can flop

Everygame that Lamar played well i was watching

he's my fav non-all star player

2nd overall fav on the Lakers, third being Ariza

Remember I said we had to pick our poison?
And since Kobe may win his fourth ring... if he does, how do you guys think this changes his legacy?
