The "How is your dynasty going" thread

Thu Feb 26, 2009 6:44 am

I know it's about 2 years little late, but I didn't want to start another dynasty thread, especially because it takes too much time. This will be similar to 2k forums the how is your association going thread, only here you can talk about how is your dynasty doing :P (Although I'm not sure how many people still plays 07).

Anyway, I started Chicago dynasty, with updated rosters, so far I'm 4-5, 2-4 on the road, 2-1 at home. I had a rough start against Florida teams, losing both, not by much, but still by enough. Then I got first win against Sacramento, but then came 2 devastating losses, against Milwaukee (without Redd and Bogut) by 20 and against Cavs by 45 (although there still was something to cheer about, Rose had an amazing dunk over Ben Wallace). Before going to road trip to visit Texas trio I won Indiana at home by about 10. The Texas trip turned out to be very succesful, although lost to Dallas by about 25 points, won Houston by 1 (Yao missed the buzzer) and blowed out the Spurs by 20. So far I'm little short of PO, currently ranked 9th.

Positive notes:
*Instead of shooting jump shots, Tyrus is getting to the rim (huge plus), although shooting % isn't that great
*Brad Miller has been the answer for the inside scoring for me, averages about 18 points
*I don't know if this should go for positive or negative, but I'll put it here, Ben Gordon has been streaky as usual, he started off the season quite awfully, if there would be +- points on the court stats noted, he would've been on minus side by big time, ruined many game endings, but has proven himself in the last 2 games, scored about 15 points in the last quarter against Houston, taking us back to the after being down by 11 before the last quarter and scored 6 3-pointers against the Spurs, without missing an attempt.
*Rose is 2nd in the league in assists and has been great
*Tim Thomas has turned out to be steal from the Hughes deal and is almost averaging double figured points off the bench
*Jerome James isn't injured :P , but he barely gets playing time

Negative notes:
*No rebounding, no blocking nor no stealing from us whatsoever, Luol Deng is leading us in the rebounding, about 7 and a half per game, we still really need to get better defense down low
*Although getting starting nod over Gordon, Salmons hasn't been that great. Has been shooting quite awfully, hasn't been starter material, but I'm still going to start him
*Overall shooting % is very poor, with some exceptions though
*Kirk is barely in the rotation, hasn't found a role in the team, I think I'll try to trade him in the offseason for expiring contract
*If we start going down, we go down big time, e.g. we were down by only 20 points before the last quarter against Cavs, but we quit and didn't even try to get back.
*Although Tyrus is starting, he hasn't been a very big scoring threat
*Like mentioned before, we are bad at defense, we have let our opponents average more than 110 points per game

Neutral/Random notes:
*Knicks is leading the East with 6-1 IIRC, it has turned out that Al Harrington is the answer for them
*Dirk has been absolutely amazing, before game against Memphis, he was averaging 40 points per game, including 50 against Phoenix (no Amar'e) and 40 against us, if I'm not mistaken, he averages over 10 rebounds as well
*Houston is struggling without T-Mac
*LeBron is only averaging about 19 points
*I think I'm not planning a trade until offseason, but will see

Why hasn't kirk hinrich been performing well for you? If you want to trade him, and maybe hunter if you have him for a power forward who can score insidel. Maybe make a hinrich hunter trade foor david west or a zack randolph. I can't think of any youynger inside scorers. I"m still trying to decide between miami, chicago like you did because of miller or new york, especially since that huge contract of stephon marbury is gone. I would do phoenix but shaq's huge conntract is there. I'll probably end up doing miami because i like to improve mario chalmers and have him become a great passer, the main passer instead of dwade, I like to see chalmers get it down low to jermaine oneal as well. Miami has like the perfect team, a young center and a veteran center, and other key players as well like jario moon.

Thought of going with Miami by myself too as they are my second favourite team.

I don't know what's wrong with Kirk, but he hasn't been good for me, don't know how to use him effectively. I think I'm still gonna stick with him until the end of season and then to try trading him for big man with expiring contract. David West would be great, but there are quite a few cons there, New Orleans would never do that in real life (I'm trying to be semi-realistic), especially since they already have franchise point guard in Chris and it wouldn't solve my rebounding (little help tho') and blocking problem. The incoming player doesn't have to be young, just a 1 year answer for me as I'm trying to get a big caliber free agent.

I'm in my first year with the Hornets and I'm 22 - 11.
I made two trades: I traded Butler, Daniels and Brown for Dalembert and Young.
Then I traded Ely to Cleveland for Snow.
And I signed Pargo to a 2-year contract.

I have some big contracts that come off the books in 2010. So I things are going bad by then, I can start rebuilding around Paul and hopefully another superstar

Well, recently i just started doing a heat dynasty, we're struggling right now. It just came to mind that i could probably make a trade with houston, to get yao ming. We need an inside scorer. I forgot the heat veteran center whether its samuel dalembart or jamal maglouire, but i was thinking of trading jermaine oneal and my veteran center to houston for yao ming. In this year's rookie draft i'll probably draft a point gaurd who i could easily turn into a playmaker, and maybe a power forward. Or what i was also thinking of doing is some how getting jason kapano back for some three point shooting.

So far in my cleveland dynasty, in year one we lost in the second round of the playoffs to orlando. We're playing well again in year two as well, jj hickson is almost an inside stopper. A few more blocking stats and several more defensive awareness ratings and he'll be there, he needs a few more defensive rebounding stats improved as well. So by either the end of this season or the end of next season he'll be an inside stopper. In year one we signed patrick ewing jr to a 4 year deal and have been training him as well, in offense and athletics. In year one i traded ben wallace and someone elese to denver for k-mart. We needed another offensive big man. We also made a varejo trade with boston him and another player for kendrick perkins in the offseason.
