I still don't see why there is a need to change what we have.

Maybe there is a way to make the text links take you to the first unread post when doing a search for new posts.

That's the point.
It's "little", it's barely noticeable or much less to click on it accurately. I don't want to waste my time moving my mouse cursor just to click that small thing or the small box that has the last page of the thread when I can just quickly click those bigass letters of the thread title to go to the most recent thread page.

It doesn't strike me as being that difficult or obscure and it seems to have sufficed for the past six years or so, but we'll take it under advisement. I'd prefer not to change the topic title to automatically redirect to the first new post as I don't think everyone would prefer that.

At last we agree on something!

It's simple if I break it down:
Big letters + First page = Annoying
Big letters + Recent post = Functional
Small button + Any page = Functional
Small button + Recent post = Annoying

I'll have to get used to either going to the first page of a 14 page thread or clicking on tiny ass buttons because I don't see much willingness to change that.

I understand where you're coming from but I'm not sure you appreciate my position on it. Not everyone wants to be taken to the latest post when they click the topic title, especially if they haven't read it from the beginning yet. It's the same system we've always had, I don't understand why it's suddenly an issue...unless of course you've always felt this way in which case I wish you'd said something before now. We're not all going to agree on this and I can't please everybody; if we changed things to please everyone, we'd constantly be changing everything because everyone has different tastes.

I'm happy to try and find a way to make it more aesthetically pleasing or easier but I'm not going to immediately implement something just because it's asked for. We have to consider the pros and cons and everyone's preference before we go ahead and make a change like that.

I like it the way it is, you can click the little page icon next to the title to go to the first unread post, or click the the little page icon next the username on the right to jump to the last post.

On the contrary, I don't remember having to click the little icon when searching for new posts on the phpbb2 board. Just click the title and it took me to the first unread post.

It shouldn't have done, unless we installed a mod for it that I can't remember. The topic title by default has always taken you to the first post in the thread and then there's the links for latest post and first unread post. Perhaps we can add another, clearer link in there near the page numbers.

hmmm... never noticed that button. if it's a one pager, i just click and scroll to the bottom. if it's more than one page, i just click on the highest numbered page and scroll to the bottom.

Oh, it should do it then if you search for new posts. If you're just browsing the different sections the topic title links to the first post. We'll have to try and come up with something more functional if people are overlooking those icons.

I used to always click on this Next to the last poster's username until I realized that the other one I mentioned earlier only shows up on unread posts, so, yea, then it went with that.

Something's changed, because I don't recall going to the first page of a multi-page thread as frequently as I have now. Weren't page numbers actual text links in php2 rather than tiny boxes as they are now?
