Hello community ,as the thread states, i'm going to receive soon all datas from Neon, the guy who created and applied his specific theory to this game ( please check his thread http://www.operationsports.com/forums/n ... ncies.html ) , to convert all inputs to pc format. Every tendency has been rated using his formulas based off on the real stats for each player. Once i reiceve all infos it will take less than 15-20 days to be completely developed.
please do not post request for partial spreedsheet or roster ,they will be ignored.
Sliders must be at default, so no more sliders - adjustment.
settings are included in the package..

NEW SLIDERS VERSION PROVIDED BY ORAEON FROM OPERATION SPORTS:
For those who don't know I have extensive statistics for each team in the NBA as well as an obsessive personality. The fundamental problem with NBA 2k is that the teams take to many close/layup/dunks and not enough short2 and Mid/Long2's. Since close shots average 57% going in vs 38% for short2/MId/Long2's this leads to high shooting percentages. This is worsened by the games unreasonably high success rates for layups and close shots (~80%; this number is really around 60%; confirmed with real NBA games). This leads to a very high PIP.

I watched and recorded stats on numerous NBA games and compared them to my stats from 82games.com. Then I made sliders and performed exhaustive testing in game to see if the CPU would have realistic stats (all CPU vs player games had stats manually recorded). This final set has been tested in 8 games without change with very close to published values (some variation is expected).

NOTE: If you play the game in a constant inside shooting style or other technique you may not get the desired results. If so you may need to modify the sliders. Do NOT change the tendency sliders but alter your player shot success to get the follwoing stats, the slider you may most have to alter is Commit fouls as it is most impacted by your playing style:

% going in:
Close = 57%
Short 2 = 37%
Mid range = 38%
Long 2 = 39%
3pt = 35%

# shots and % taken (varies by team this is aggregate):
FG attempts = 80.5
Close + Dunk + Layup = 28 (35%)
Layup = 17 (21%)
Med + Short 2 (shots not in the paint)= 35 (44%)
3pta = 18 (36%)

Foul sliders use my own set.
This will likely have to be individualized, I play with real world numbers of midrange and layups. These fouls sliders will not work if you drive to the basket everytime (i.e. computer will have too many fouls). Note that these sliders seem extreme but if the computer takes the correct number of midrange shots it is hard for the CPU to get the 25 Free throws a game that the NBA has (I know this seems like a lot of FT but this is realism and reduces PIP since almost all fouls are on layups--NBA strategy is no easy layups). If you drive alot you may need to reduce CPU commit fouls. If you are fouling to much (harder to do) then reduce Player commit fouls. Games will vary between 15-33 FT per game so don't make a decision on a single game.

Yup I've been reading the boards at operationsports and boy am I glad that you will be releasing the roster with Neon's Player tendency here at nba-live.com Been waiting for this for a long time but it'll be worth it!

I heard about Neon Roster from my friend who has XBOX360. He said it awesome but need some fix about slider.

Anyway, I also wait this great work and we can get it asap after trade dead-line(2/19). :wink:

no fix..everything has to be left on default. Maybe your friend played with the previous uncompleted version....

when will it be out exactly? i don't know which will be the deadline. I have a family, a social life, practice some sports.

i spent all my free time on editing more than 15,000 tendencies. have to fix minor tweaks like rotations,substitutions,shoes etc..so....

i need also to point out some questions:
do not ask me to explain any "weird" meaning of player rating tendencies..they've been created by the author so i'm not able to do that.
focus your attention to the gameplay ..it's awesome and incredibly realistic.
feel free to post your reply concerning any issue about stats,rotations,player minutes in order to improve it.

Juza You said that sliders should stay at the default values as you edited all player ratings. Sounds good BUT: I fear this won't work in association mode. The computer generates rookies for the draft with default ratings. They will be much better than your edited real NBA players. Live 2003 had the same problem. Ratings were tweaked but new cpu-generated rookies got normal ratings and were better.

Of course we could edit ALL rookies manually after each season but this does not sound like fun.

What are your thoughts on this?

Chinoy I do not want to edit all the rookies. I want to play. Moreover, "we" (the users of this patch) do not even know how players have been tweaked. We cannot bring rookies to the same level.
I'll wait for the patch to be released but maybe I will stick to 2k9's official post-patch roster and update transactions myself.

There's always a downside to all these rosters. There's never a "perfect" roster. It's up to you man.

Yeah, the generated rookies is what tipped him off to the shooting tendencies. A small handfull of generated rookies come in at 40,50,60 (usually the top 5 pick guys)...and that is the way it should be. Most of them come in with 20,30's...

But his thoery on the rookies is unless its just COMPLETELY out of scale you leave it alone. Your gonna suck the fun out of it, were being control freaks.

When LeBron entered the league we couldnt say "Hey your not allowed to run as fast as point guards because your 250-260. You know where im going? I mean Charles Barkley came into the league and was 6-4 and killed the glass, should we have turned his rebound ratings down because it wasnt "realistic"?

We should let the generated/not in the NBA people alone and let them develop into whatever they develop. If you get lucky you get lucky if you get a bust you get a bust. THAT is being realistic not changing the players into what we want them to be like.

A computer generated rookie is an entity on it's own. Supposed the CPU would have created Nate Robinson before he hit the scene. People would have been screaming bloody murder that a midget could dunk his behind off, block Yao Ming's shot and drive on dudes damn near twice his height. Whatever the CPU spits out so be it.

ON the other hand the rookies will be coming out based on default sliders so they'll always have an edge/disadvantage based on hisedits

Juza Do you only edit tendencies or also ratings? What formula do you use => how many % of the original values do you change?

eh man, i'm just repeating sthe same things on and on..i convert all tendencies and rating and qualities and player position and substitution and minutes rotation....i think it's clear now...isn't it?

how many % for each player due to hidden maths formula completely unkown to me? i'm just laughing man.

Yes but if the e.g. contest shot tendency is lowered by 20% for all players I'd know that I will have to lower this value for generated rookies by 20% as well.

Juza, thanks for all your hard work. The whole idea of the edits is awesome. You know, i was wondering, with all that neon's formulas and help from some programmer you could do a updater software, which would check the nba stats, apply neon's formula and automaticaly edit the rosters and settings. Like a "LIVE 365 and Dynamic DNA" for NBA 2K9 instead of that creapy updates of 2K insider. Is that possible??

Tested the game with your settings. The gameplay is really great. Feels really different.
The Knicks are not the worst team in the league but in the game they are.
I also do not understand some ratings. Malik Rose is better than Nate Robinson and Duhon, e.g.
PFs in general seem to be better than guards.
