ASSOCIATION SETTINGS

Game: NBA 2K11
Platform: PS3
Difficulty :: Pro
Game Style :: Simulation
Quarter Length :: 7 minutes (subject to change)
Length of Season :: 58 games

NBA D-League Games :: Off
Trade Override :: Off
Allow CPU Trades :: On
Team Chemistry :: Off
Progressive Fatigue :: Off
Player Roles :: Off
Injuries :: Off
Sim Quarter Length :: 12 minutes

Why do I have chemistry, progressive fatigue, player roles and injuries turned off? Well, sure, they great for the aspect of realism, but I find that they hinder the gameplay and that’s something I’m not really interested in for this association. The injuries option may be subject to change though, depends on how everything plays out.

The Inactive Man

G: E.Watson

A closer look ::

Image Kyle Lowry, 24 years old, 6'0" | 3 years - $27.43m :[/b] Would usually not be a starting point guard for the league's number 1 overall franchise (pre-season power rankings), but his perimeter defense is supreme and is an above average rebounder for a man of his height. Can run the floor with 3 big names to pass too, no pressure to create as they can create for themselves, very handy since Lowry isn't a great shooter.

Image Vince Carter, 33 years old, 6'6" | 5 years - $66.09m : Has tried his luck with many teams yearning for championship success, but time after time he feeds critics with more food as he fails to perform in big games. As a Shooting Guard, is a better shooter than the league average and can still create for himself, but has lost a bit of his speed due to his age. Could serve as a potential trade chip, but the contract is horrible.

Image Kevin Durant, 22 years old, 6'10" | 1 year - $21.73m : A scoring champion at the age of 21, Durant has another 5 years until he reaches his basketball and physical peak as an athlete, an extremely scary idea... If you're the opposition. Does well to handle the bulk of scoring, his height is a great advantage at the SF position so he can shoot over everybody who tries to guard him. Too tall for small forwards, too quick for power forwards, he is a match-up nightmare for the opposition. Has a tendency to start the year off slow.

Image Kevin Love, 22 years old, 6'10" | 1 year - $11.24m : The second 22 year old, 6'10" Kevin with a 1 year deal on this team, he is a rebounding machine (99's in both offensive and defensive rebounding). He has a great outside game, meaning that he has the potential to spread the floor very well, legitimately a threat from the 3 point arc. A physically strong player, but not a strong finisher around the rim. Unfortunately, Love is also known for his below average defending.

Image Brendan Haywood, 30 years old, 7'0" | 4 years - $15.20m : Very good at blocking shots and has a nice rim game, very good at defending in the low post as well. Incredible offensive rebounder when asked to crash the boards, being stronger than most other centers helps with that. Plays a more defensive role on a team as opposed to offensive.

Since you were doing a fantasy draft, I reckon you should have rolled with Boston. :P

Looking good man. I remember you asking me about this a year ago re: whether a fantasy draft association story would work. Let's see if it does!

I couldn't play with Boston if I didn't have their current starting 5, I love them all too much. If I let go and play with a different team who's colours I like (Orlando) then it's easier. :P

I also remember you giving me the advice to give an insight on the rest of the league so that people knew where everyone was, so that's what I'm going with. :D Thanks for the support.

Cheers guys.

Agent420: Wasn't really an in depth analysis, just a brief look at what the players bring to the team. Thank you anyway, I appreciate the kind words. :)
cdog: They certainly are, I've already played a few games and loving it.

I write dot points on my laptops during the time-outs and quarter breaks/dead ball time, very brief ones, but easy enough for me to elaborate on when I want to do the match review. Not sure when the divisional teams rosters will be posted, probably on the weekend (It's slightly more work than it seems).

It's better than the people who just post pictures of their roster is what I was implying.

If injuries were turned on he would definitely get some burn as the teams starting center considering Haywood is prone to injury. Depending on how Haywood performs during the season will be the biggest determining factor as to if Gortat will get a chance at the starting C.

Thanks!

Pick 1 [#5]: Kevin Durant
Pick 2 [#55]: Kevin Love
Pick 3 [#65]: Vince Carter

First 2 picks solidified my core for this franchise, I can really develop these guys into bigger superstars than they already are.

It's a really balanced fantasy draft, glad you didn't go overboard like half the guys at OS do. I'm a reader.

Good to see you back in the forums. I'm not down with a fantasy draft with the Magic though. Would have loved to see you using your Cs instead. Nevertheless I'll follow.

Thanks everyone for the comments so far. :) I'm thinking of ways for everyone to get involved in this association too, so if anyone has ideas just shoot them at me. I'm thinking of making a prediction game where the winner will get to act as a GM for any team for a single trade, and make a move to help a team that they're favouring, or dismantle a team that is clicking together. I'll of course limit the flexibility of this rule, probably making it so that you can trade anyone except for any of the leagues 29 other teams 2 core players. Reply back on what you guys think.

Thanks, I think I did go overboard though, as NBA.com ranked my team 1st overall in the power rankings. I'm happy with my core and I'm happy with my bench, those are the main things.

How come you would have preferred to see the C's?

Cheers Valor, glad to be back. Just going for something different, I know it won't float everybody's boat but whatever, it's fun. :)

SOUTHWEST DIVISION

PG: J.Nelson | SG: R.Allen | SF: T.Williams | PF: J.Smith | C: B.Lopez

ESPN.com wrote:A strange team make-up, Nelson is an undersized point who can serve as a slight liability on defence, but is a great shooter, as is Ray Allen. T.Williams is a solid swingman, Smith is powerful around the rim and a merciless shot-swatter and Lopez has a nice back-to-the-basket game. A dabble of everything, it will be interesting how this team establishes itself.

PG: J.Holiday | SG: L.Fields | SF: G.Wallace | PF: P.Gasol | C: J.Foster

ESPN.com wrote:A very young backcourt that have already proven that they can hang with the more experienced players in the NBA, it helps that Gerald Wallace and Pau Gasol will be there to back up their defensive inefficiencies. They could really upgrade at the center position though.

PG: R.Westbrook | SG: J.Johnson | SF: M.Beasley | PF: E.Brand | C: Z.Ilgauskas

ESPN.com wrote:A young and talented backcourt that will have no problem on the offensive side of the court, who are also solid defenders. Brand is a great fit for hybrid forward Beasley allowing him to play a faster small forward role. Another team that could use a nice upgrade at the center position, Ilgauskas was the worst selection possible for this team which will most likely play an up-tempo style of play.

Image

PG: K.Hinrich | SG: J.Richardson | SF: T.Ariza | PF: D.Favors | C: J.Noah

ESPN.com wrote:A very solid small court which can rain from the perimeter while on the frontline you have a young prospect who could develop into an explosive powerhouse and another who is a defensive anchor. This team will be very successful if it figures out how to work together, using their strengths and limiting their weaknesses.

Image Image Image Image Image
PG: C.Billups | SG: B.Roy | SF: D.Gallinari | PF: J.Thompson | C: J.O'Neal

ESPN.com wrote:Aging vets at the 1 & 5 with jumpshot-happy players at the other 3 positions. With Billups directing this team, they could be raining mid-range on you all game, and it might just work.

Actually I really like the post 2007 Cs. I have a green-black alternate of KG in my closet. It's a cool team. And since you're a fan, it would have been a cool story.

Good to see Gasol being a top tier franchise player on his team. Those are some really balanced teams. I think the Mavs have the best roster. Playmaker, shooter, allrounder, highflying swat machine and a post presence. That's tough to beat.
