Praise Clutch for the epic banner!

Game: NBA 2K11
System: Playstation 3
Team: Houston Rockets
Season Length: 82 games
Play D-League Games: Off
Injuries: On
Team Chemistry: On
Player Roles: On
CPU Trades: Off
Quarter Length/Sim Quarter Length: 12/12
Difficulty: All-Star
Sliders: Sim, with added adjustments
NLSC Draftees: Yes, with real draft classes

Since the real life Rockets are playing like crap this season, I'm doing this to create my own world in which the Rockets are good and (hopefully, fingers crossed, or legs crossed, in Yao's case) the injury bug doesn't plague us.

For those of you just beginning to read, the season doesn't start until the second page. The first page just has a season preview, replies from followers, and an introduction to what's known as the prediction game, for those who submit an NLSC Draftee (application is two posts below I believe).

So yeah, those of you barely beginning to read, enjoy, and feel free to post a reply here or PM me for any comments, feedback, or suggestions. :) Again, enjoy!

NLSC Draftee Information

Interested in being a part of this association? Fill out the following application, and you're in. Depending on how many people sign up, 5-12 NLSCers will be in each draft. If you give me an in-depth application, you'll get an in-depth player that resembles what you want him to look. If you're too shallow, well, you know what you'll get.

Copy and paste the following code, fill it out, and PM the application to me:
Code: Select all
Name (first and last) and Age:
College:
Jersey Number:
Dominant Hand:
Position/Secondary Position:
Play-Style:
NBA Comparison:
Height/Weight:
Personality: (Laid Back, Neutral, Expressive, Unpredictable)
Skin Tone (6 lightest, 1 darkest) and Body Type (buff or ripped):
Appearance (hair style, face, facial hair, tattoos, accessories, shoes, etc.):
5 Strengths:
5 Weaknesses:
Other Stuff (background info, shooting style, hotspots, etc.):

Feel free to go as in-depth as possible; remember the more in-depth you go, the easier it is for me to create your player. I'm thinking on doing some previews to introduce the draftees, and come March (in this association), I will be doing some made up recaps on how your draftee's doing in college/March Madness. The highest you'll be drafted is lottery pick, latest is early second round. :)

2011 Draft Class

Liam Washburn (Lamrock) - Drafted 41st overall by the Portland TrailBlazers
Willie Lewis (Houndy) - Drafted 23rd overall by the Utah Jazz

2013 Draft Class

Anpoco Meteowannabe (pudnheadwilson)
Joey Hall (shabba_93)
Wallace Smithson (King Dee)
Mark Moore (Mark.)
Patrick Freeman (Psychedelic™)
David Haye (Radioman)

Also note: This is a first come, first serve kinda thing. If you're on the 2012 draft class, don't feel that you've been snubbed; it just means those in the 2011 draft class sent their applications before you. :)

Also, I am doing 2-on-2 tournaments with the NLSC Draftees. I have a list of players you can choose from, and with that player, you will face off against other draftees and their teammate. Seven games will be played, and first, second, and third place will be awarded Dream Points.

Cool team to go with. I really like what the Rockets have. Yao and Scola under the basket, Martin and Brooks can score from the outside and one of the coolest benches with Lowry, Budinger, Battier, Courtney Lee, Jordan Hill. Good luck (Y)

Yeah, I love the talent this team has, too bad injuries have prevented us from putting it all together for the past few years. :(

The Rockets have a lot of talent. I'm giving Lee big minutes, playing him alongside Shane Battier when we're up against the best of the best in the NBA. :) He'll definitely give us the defensive presence that Kevin Martin lacks.

A Not So Turrible Season Ahead

Houston, TX - For the 2009-10 season, or last season, the Houston Rockets went 42-40 without their star big man, Yao Ming. If you look at their record season before last, that's an 11-win decrease, and you would think that it could've been much worse. Yao Ming went down in the 2009 NBA Playoffs in Game 3 against the Los Angeles Lakers (ugh), and it turned out to be a season-ending injury, which carried over to the next season. They were eventually eliminated from the playoffs in seven games, and, much to my deep disgust and dismay, the Lakers went on to win the championship.

Without Yao Ming, the Rockets maintained themselves at .500 for the majority of the season, and actually had a shot at the 2010 NBA Playoffs, but faded away from the 50-win team and eventually eight-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder near the end of the season.

During the season, Daryl Morey, one of the best general managers in the league right now, came through with a trade. It was a three-team trade. The Rockets sent Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey to Sacramento, and received Kevin Martin and Hilton Armstrong in return. They also shipped injury-prone Tracy McGrady to New York in exchange for Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries. Since this is a Rockets blog, it doesn't matter who the Knicks and Kings exchanged, go google it or something.

Many people criticized Morey for sending fan favorite Carl Landry away; some were beginning to call him the best Rocket of the decade. Despite that trade, the Rockets did not make the playoffs. This season however, they have plenty of talent to work with, and with Yao Ming returning, the Rockets could become a contender if Yao comes back strong and stays healthy. They can maybe take it to the evil that is the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, all celebrations of Yao's comeback aside, Daryl Morey and Rick Adelman have decided to limit his minutes this season. He will average no more than 24 minutes per game this season, and will not play on back-to-backs. A very safe decision; this prevents the likelihood of injuries from happening to him. It is better to have Yao for half a game than to not have him at all. If he can at least average 10 points per game, six or seven rebounds per game, and a block per game, that would be acceptable.

Houston's the best place to be in if you're a center; Brad Miller and Chuck Hayes will get plenty of minutes when Yao Ming is resting. With plenty of scorers in Kevin Martin, Aaron Brooks, Courtney Lee, Luis Scola and many more, the Rockets will have no problem scoring this season. Defense can be a concern however, Shane Battier is slowing down, Yao Ming's injury aftermath will limit the amount of shots he can block, and our best shot blocker is Jordan Hill, who comes off the bench. Courtney Lee, an excellent wing defender, will be heavily depended upon to defend players out on the perimeter.

A not so turrible, or terrible, season is in store for the Rockets. A championship is overrating them, but no playoffs is underrating them (if injuries don't plague them). My prediction is they get into the playoffs with a 4th to 8th seed, 50-win season at best.

Are you gonna keep realism and limit Yao's minutes, or you're gonna kill everyone with him in 40 mpg?

Valor, I hope so too. :)

Waferstick, they won't three-peat here, not if I can help it.

Thierry •, didn't you read the article? It's right there. 2K11 probably has his durability and stamina low, so 40 MPG would be a huge overkill. I don't think I'll give anyone that many minutes, especially since this is a Blazers-potential team.

5 spots left in the 2012 draft class. It's a long wait I know, but it's best to send in your applications now than to be left at the 2013 draft class (if I even get THAT far). :)

Lol yeah I read the article, but that's in real life... there's players who don't care about real life injuries and play with the whole roster, that's why I asked

Houndy, like you said in the Rockets Thread, he's a waste of talent that's sitting on the bench. Nah, I'll probably send him down to the D-League until (hoping not) one of my big men gets injured.

Thierry •, fair enough. I don't want Yao getting injured here, so I'll limit him to 24 mpg, just like in real life.

Badger, thanks Badger. You didn't have to write in caps lock though, I assume you're yelling at me.

Hakeem Olajuwon has given the Rockets roster a challenge this season. They must complete them to earn cookies from him, (yum)lol. Below are challenges that I have not just for Yao Ming, but for any player on the roster to complete.

Player Challenges:
Speedy Stat Master I- Accumulate 10+ points and 10+ rebounds with Yao Ming in under 24 minutes.
Speedy Stat Master II- Accumulate 20+ points and 10+ rebounds with Yao Ming in under 24 minutes.
Chinese Block Party- Get 5+ blocked shots with Yao Ming in under 24 minutes.
The Great Wall of Durability- Have Yao Ming play over 55 games this season.
Magic Yao- Get a triple-double with Yao Ming.
Scoring Master- Score 30+ points with any player.
Scoring Champion- Win the scoring title with any player.
Bench Rescue- Have a player score 20 points off the bench.
Houston, We Have a Problem- Have a 20-10 game with any player.
Better Than Calvin- Break Calvin Murphy's franchise record of 57 points scored in a game.
Dreams Come True- Surpass Hakeem's career highs with any player(s) in all five main stat categories.(52 points, 25 rebounds, 12 assists, 8 steals, 12 blocks)
Free Throw Line Diet- Have any player average over six free throw attempts per game.

Team Challenges:
Dream Achieved- Win the NBA Championship.
Play-offs: Play-on!- Make the NBA Playoffs.
50 Dreams- Achieve a 50-win season

Prediction Game:

There will be a prediction game as well. Before each month, I will post the monthly schedule. You as the NLSC Draftee will predict the overall record for the month, which games I'll win or lose, and who will be the top scorer, top rebounder, and top assists leader for the month. If you predict the overall record correct, that's 5 points. Every game predicted correct, that's 1 point each. If you guess the leader for a stat category correct, that's 2 points, and an extra point for predicting the average for the month correct. For the averages, just predict a whole number, 24.5 rounds up to 25, 24.4 rounds down to 24, etc. This is a lot, and can be very confusing, so here's an example:

Overall Record for the Month: 9-6
Top Scorer- Kevin Martin- 24 ppg
Top Rebounder- Luis Scola- 10 rpg
Assists Leader- Aaron Brooks- 7 apg

@ Lakers- L
@ Warriors- W
vs. Nuggets- W
etc., etc.

These points that you accumulate you will use for your NLSC Draftee, in order to improve your draft stock. If you'd like to participate and you're still not included on the NLSC Draft List send me your info via PM. Even those in the 2012 Draft Class can participate; which gives you more time to improve your stock. It will be limited though, to be fair to those in the 2011 Draft Class. As of now, everyone's ratings are edited for them to be early second rounders, but with the points you accumulate, you can move up to as high as a lottery pick. Also, once you're drafted, you're still in the contest, you will use your points to upgrade your ratings as usual, but I will upgrade them as the NBA season goes on. That way, you improve as a player. :)

Now that that's cleared. Once you submit your prediction, you can't go back and edit it. I will be the points police for this, so don't worry about keeping track of your points. Good luck to all the readers. :)

So Deron Williams is the only one getting points? Meh, fine by me, less points to count. I'll post the schedule for October-November sometime this week. :)

EDIT: On second thought, I'll just make the Dream Challenge my goals for the year, nothing for points earned. De8, you'll still get your points for the completed challenges, as you're the only one who took the time to do this. :)

Oh yeah, forgot to add to predict their averages for the month as well. If you guys would take the time to edit your posts for that, that'd be good. :)

And Houndy, if you're trying to be funny with those nicknames, it's apparently not working.
